Reviews on European food in Sintra, Central Portugal, Portugal. Long the home of Portugal’s monarchs, Sintra is a magnificent town of marvelous historic mansions, all set against the backdrop of lush hills. Sintra’s many castles include the Palácio Nacional de Sintra (a main abode of Portuguese royalty until the early 20th century), the hilltop and storybook Palácio da Pena, Quinta de Regaleira (incorporating several architectural styles and with gorgeous surrounding gardens), the Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle), and the Palácio de Monserrate.

Good restaurant, good food at a good price in a family environment.
Was recommended Metamorphosis by our guest house, which was just up the road. Arrived fairly late, restaurant was very busy, warmly welcomed and shown a table by the manager. Service was excellent throughout. Manager spoke very good English and so did some of the waiters. I had the pork and clams, my wife veal scallops with a mushroom sauce, both very good and generous portions. Prices very good, both food and wine. Our best value dinner in three weeks of travels in Portugal

Great Little Place & They Do Live Music On Weekends.
We happened upon this restaurant when we couldn't get into the one that was recommended to us. Lovely small dining room with good service. The menu is limited though all the dishes we ordered (4 of us) were excellent. The Iberian pork dish with curry was outstanding! Also, the house wines both red and wine were excellent and a great price. If the menu has choices you think you would like, it's a great option!

A cosy restaurant that focuses mostly on meat. Good service and tasty food in abbundant portions. Nothing fancy but well prepared, honest food. I had grilled pork (secretos de porco), which my toddler loved as well, and a typical Portuguese dessert from the Alentejo called "sericaia", which was presented as it should be with a preserved plum ("ameixa de Elvas"). I will no doubt add this restaurant to my list of safe choices and can't wait to go back! Not very easy to park in the area.Hello, BeyondLisbonThanks for your amaizing Review!we´'re located in Sintra surrondings off the touristy area , focused on meat, proud with our STEAK ON THE STONE we serv honest food with fair prices and not fancy cusine but awsome produts quality.hope you had a remarkable Holidays!Kind Regards Mário Lavrador

Very simple and cozy interior, super outdoor seating area (with heaters for cold weather). The service is friendly and very attentive! And the FOOD. Itâs typical local dishes, but theyâre made with lots of love! Their fresh baked bread is awesome, octopus is to die for, etc, etc.

We were looking for a lunch place in the bustling historic centre of Sintra, a rabbit warren of winding laneways full of cafes and restaurants, when a pictorial menu caught our eye. Not your usual Portuguese and tourist fare. A few minutes later our group of 8 was seated on the tiny outdoor terrace ordering salads of salmon tartare with quinoa, fresh tuna or salmon, goats cheese, gorgeous platters of cheeses and meats, and toasted steak or tuna steak sandwiches. Fabulous, we all agreed it was the best lunch we had had in 2 weeks in Portugal. Great value, highly recommended.

I had passed at their door many times and finally decided to get in for lunch. It did not disapoint at all! We had traditional Portuguese pastéis de bacalhau (codfish fritters), which were fried to perfection, and chicken thigh stuffed with chestnust and grapes, with a side of creamed spinach and oven potatoes. Absolutely delicious! The portions were generous, too. For dessert we had tiramisu and red fruit pavlova, both amazing as well. The restaurant has a nice cosy atmosphere, making the whole experience a mix of traditional and modern, without letting you feeling to old to be hip! We loved it and can't wait to go back!

Imagine yourself on a warm summer afternoon, having a delicious pizza made with super fresh ingredients after a great day at the beach, along with someone you love, on a cozy esplanada with the most caring/smiling service. The Roulotte da Gigi has (almost) it all. You must bring your own dearest, I took mine with me.

We randomly came across this restaurant for lunch and were we lucky!! The starter mains and dessert were so good, so well cooked and presented. We had salads to start, fresh curd cheese, thin slices of apple and much more, perfectly dressed. We had swordfish with a tomato ragu, simply delicious and desserts of mango, chocolate with caramel crumb and two great espressos.plus two glasses of a very drinkable white wine. Cost â¬14 pp I'll come back to Sintra just to eat here.

Went here for breakfast for our last morning in sintra! Food was amazing and staff were really welcoming! The decor inside is really cute and has great artworks on the wall/quotes like 'no WiFi talk to each other' which was really nice and also sported the traditional yellow colours of sintra/Portugal! If you're a fan on steaks, then Santo Bife is the place to visit in Sintra's historic centre. It's very easy to make your plate unique: you choose the steak, the sauce and the garnish. Et voilà ! Even if you don't eat meat, there's always fish steaks and e
We had the pork dish this evening . Fantastic! Best we have had in Portugal for sure. Great house wine. The food, ambiance and service made this a terrific meal. It was like being invited to friends home for a special dinner. If you want to feel like you are appreciated as a guest come to Santo Bife. We are so sorry tomorrow is Sunday and they will be closed. Well deserving of the 5 out of 5 rating. Everyone who eats here says the same.
