This is our third visit with friends and family and the champagne cocktails are excellent so you must try, we eat in the restaurant it has a wide and interesting menu for all tastes, of excellent quality an cooking. the surroundings are very cool, cute lighting with a pianist playing in the background.The staff are very friendly and attentive to guests, so a big thank you and we will see you again soon.This is a great place to chillout after work.

We stopped in Senlis for our last night in France prior to flying home the next day from Charles de Gaulle airport. This is a beautiful historic town and the Les Barbares restaurant typifies the attractive town architecture, located in an underground cave with fascinating medieval arched ceilings (5 star ambience). Unlike many of the restaurants in France and in Senlis, this restaurant offered an extensive, varied menu. The portions they serve are extremely generous and the food is very tasty. I had the scallops served with sides of baked potato and ratatouille. They served me 2 skewers with 5 scallops each â much more than I am used to eating! My wife had the grilled salmon with cream sauce. You can choose from a variety of sauces for your main dish. Their desserts were also quite good; my wife had the crème brulee and I had the apple pie, served with flaming calavados and vanilla ice cream. My only complaint is that the edges of the apple pie were slightly burnt due to overbaking. Otherwise, both of our meals were excellent.

Busy at lunchtime, a favourite for local business-people. Good food and the salads especially satisfying for a change from normal French fare. Recommended for entertaining in particular. Plenty of parking along the road outside.

We found this tea shop and restaurant in lovely Senlis, off one of the cobbled streets in the old town, whilst looking around on Saturday. The main interior is an elegant wood-panelled Salon de The and shop (selling coffee beans and a dazzling array of loose teas), but beyond is a delightful sunny terrace where lunch is served. We were warmly welcomed and quickly seated, ordering the iced tea du jour. A nice touch is that it comes 'au naturel' with a little pot of sugar to add according to your own taste. To start we had tartare au concombre (chopped cucumber and mint in fromage frais) with a little salad, then Salades Paysanne (grilled goat's cheese on toast, smoked ham, boiled egg, tomatoes, walnuts and lots of lettuce). Both dishes were superb and really fresh, perfect for the hungry on a hot day. Ignoring the fact a substantial meal had already been dispatched, we ploughed on with delicious home-made ice cream (vanilla, pistachio and violet) and then espresso with cute tiny pink meringues. Service is promptly and pleasantly delivered by smiling and accommodating staff who have a sense of humour. The presentation of food was excellent and everything clean and at your fingertips. Although we didn't have wine, a small but thoughtfully-chosen list of French fare is available at reasonable prices (this bottle of Bandol rose looked ravishing at â¬22).This is a terrific place for a simple, elegant lunch in very private but informal surroundings. Our chatty fellow diners were mostly French, likely locals, in couples, pairs or small family groups. In charge of dining at the next table was a platinum blond Chihuahua who convinced his owner to surrender most of her lunch and was brought a water bowl that could easily have doubled as a bath.Highly recommended and good value at about â¬55 for three courses and mocktails. Clean (unisex) loo. English is spoken. We tried an appetizer, plate, cheese, and desserts here. But first, they serve an amuse-bouche and little crunchy appetizers before your meal. The langoustine and crab cakes were fantastic. The cabuilloud with mushrooms was great. The cheeses were traditional styles but had unique flavors (one was marinated in cider and one had linen seeds in it!) We ended with the mint ice cream dessert covered in a layer of cream and topped with merengue, and chunks and crumbs of chocolate. Plus, they serve a mini ganache with coffee. Overall - fantastic!

This restaurant, now run once again by a previous owner (Jacques Campion), continues to turn out excellent food, accompanied by an excellent service. French in the traditional style, it would be difficult to be disappointed by a visit here, although its proximity to Paris and the wealthy areas surrounding Senlis and Chantilly rare reflected in the prices. A well thought out menu, always reflecting locally sourced produce in season, provides ample choice. Recommended from our latest visit - a starter of scallops with foie gras (mouthwateringly delicious!) and some perfectly prepared local deer. Seating available in the delightful garden for those long, summer evenings. A piece of advice - this is not a restaurant to visit for a long, leisurely lunch; the staff will make it quite clear when the clock approaches 2.30 and it's time to leave.....

One set menu for the evening and that's it - no choice save for how many courses you choose. We were told by locals this is the place to eat in Senlis so we had high expectations. Well... all a bit stodgy and uninspiring. Husband in the kitchen; partner front of house. The cooking tried hard to be inventive but we felt it failed. Sweetbreds with fish cream and the poisson ruined by hugely sharp plums. Cheese was a lump on a plate with nothing else. Dessert was a fig on mascarpone dusted with crushed biscuit. Would we go back - No. Would we send our best friends - No. Would we send those we don't like much - Yes!

We knew about this restaurant via internet and although we stayed nearly 1 hr away from them, we gave it a shot and had dinner at this restaurant, our experience was superb from the moment we entered till the moment we left, the waiters were very kind, we were welcomed and felt like home immediately upon arrival, the service was impeccable , they were very attentive and efficient, the food was great and the presentation was really beautiful. The chef came over and talked to us.
