Reviews on European food in Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo Province, Caribbean. Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic and a UNESCO world heritage site, is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas and one of the most populous cities in the Caribbean. The city is a mix of old world charm and modern Latin flair. Its medieval palaces and fortresses mix with nightlife and shopping to rival any modern city in the world. You'll find pristine beaches and hidden gems like a salsa/merengue club set inside a huge underground cave.

I am a foodie. I love eating. I love going to new restaurants. But I come back to Mil's time and time again. The service is fantastic. Friendly and professional. And the food is exquisite. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Everything is good. Some favorites are the short ribs risotto (my mouth is watering just thinking about it), the tuna tartare, and the wood oven baked fonduta which we've ordered almost every time we go. I've described that melted cheese dish as tasting like Christmas. The truffle fries aren't on the menu but order them. And the gin and tonics with spices are served in a goblet and rounds out the whole delicious meal. My husband and I have weekly date nights. Don't be surprised to see us spending it at Mila's. We've tried other places and literally always end up back here. If you're in Santo Domingo - do not miss this place.

I write this review as a first for me, but feel itâs warranted We were highly recommended this restaurant by lots of friends and business colleagues Itâs in a great neighborhood and upon entering the decor is spectacular The dining room is beautiful the waiters very professional and capable The menu is huge and we had already decided weâre going the tapas route and order three or floor tapas then go from there. Now understand this, I have travelled all over the world and lived in Spain so I know what tapas are and what to expect Tapas should be small plates of delicious food and usually I order three or four then maybe a couple more etc Also please remember my girlfriend is Dominican a hotel manager and we both know our way around any menu etc With the waiters assistance ( I wanted to order the Serrano ham but he said it was huge and came with potatoes) this shouldâve been a warning as it was listed as a tapa. We ordered four what we thought were small plates of tapas. What came was hard to fathom. The croquettes came out first a huge portion on a dinner plate bland and honestly tasteless then after 15 mins the tuna tartar came this was fabulous very tasty but had an odd twist with yuca and avocado not sure yuca works but good dish again very large for a tapas next again after at least 15 mins the next dish came ( we had specifically told the waiter we were ordering them all together) this dish looked super on the menu lamb wrapped in peppers grilled. When it came it was a huge dish and actually looked like lasagne at first glance once you pulled back an enormous layer of cheese the pepper were swimming in a cheese sauce the lamb was horrible the dish was a total disappointment and so miss represented on the menu it baffled me I even asked for the menu in Spanish and english and re read the description. No mention of cheese at all or sauce this was very weird. The waiter removed it immediately very polite we then ordered on his recommendation the cheese sticks something of a house specialty they came over cooked some literally exploded bland and tasteless and agin a huge portion I really struggled writing this as I donât like to be negative but feel this is a honest representation. With only two days in the city this dinner was a bust and ruined our last night it was also too late to go elsewhere They removed the dish from the bill but at no time did a manager approach our table and offer any explanation again for a restaurant of this quality I was very surprised The decor is ultra high end and very welcoming but on our visit the food was a total failure

Since it opened it has been the best offer quality-price for an Italian restaurant in the city. Michelle, the chef-owner, is on top of his game everyday. Appetizers like vitello tonnato, Mozarella e prosciutto, mushrooms cacerola are simply my favorites.Pastas al dente, branzino, salmón shrimp arrabiata to die for. Most important what started with a very limited wine list has developed on an excellent one with Chianti, brunello and else.Be patient with the service but you will eat simply great.

While Santo Domingo has many new great restaitants, El Meson de la Cava is perhaps one of the oldest that has evolved and improved over decades. It is actually situated in a natural cave, now accessible with an elevator. Good Service from pleasant waiters and good local and international food is on the menu. Above the cave they have built a beaurifil grill with live musiv and dancing floor. I prefer dining in the cave.

Business lunch today, second time I come here and it is one of the old traditional Spanish places in town. Old fashioned menu, good riojas and ribera del duero, all as it should be.We had a classic manchego cheese and Ibérico ham starter, followed by pulpo a la gallega, bacalao and chillo a la plancha, all prepared to perfection and served by the very attentive waiters, canât get any better.Brilliant place and more economic than another places in town.

Just back from our last meal on the island and...wow. perfect in so many ways. Read some reviews that were not good--mainly service and price. Our service was awesome-Gracias Manuel (Larry!). Dinner was expensive by DR standards but well worth it. We had drinks, apple/shrimp app, theee dinners and a dessert for $6000 DP. Could not eat this well in the US for that amount! Steak was perfect for son and I. Wife had curry shrimp. All was great! Totally recommend for special dinner!

I have been staying at the intercon in Santo Domingo. Don Pepe is two blocks away. I balked at the idea of dressing up; the hotel concierge politely suggested I should and she was probably right. The service was excellent. The crab croquette was ok but the whole snapper with garlic was excellent. I took the waiterâs recommendation of a local corn creme brûlée and Barcelo rum: he was right.A thoroughly good evening. Iâm coming back.
