Really Really too fast! I was still eating aperitif and the starter arrived. lied down the forket and main meal was on my table! I want to have dinner not to make a eating race! Food was good enough but tuna tartare with avocado was full of onion tomato and other things that didnt were declared on the menu :(

Read about this place on TA so decided to give it a go. Although the opening time is shown as 13:00 it does not in fact open until 13:30 so we sat on the seafront for 30 minutes. We chose to sit in the outdoor bit and a very pleasant waiter greeted us and was very helpful when we asked for advice on the wine and the snapper. His wine choice was excellent and at a reasonable price - a Muga white rioja. I had the turbot and my wife had the snapper. Both were excellent served with buttered potatoes. Very large fish portions cooked to perfection. Prior to this we had complimentary olives and calamari and we also had bread. We had desserts and coffee and the bill came to just under 100 euros. It was worth every penny. The waiter, who was not the owner, was brilliant and between my very poor Spanish and his slightly better English we communicated satisfactorily. menu had an English translation.

Another trip advisor tip off. Down a back street off the main drag of Puerto Chico. Menu de dia changes everyday and Sam was so helpful explaining the menu and accommodating some dietary requirements we had. The place is well deservedly popular with locals and on the Easter Sunday that we ate there it was lovely to see families of multiple generations celebrating the holiday there. We had booked but you can probably walk in if you don't leave it till late. In the great tradition of long Spanish lunch our meal wasn't rushed and the staff were attentive to our every request. Food was very good and would recommend.

[Cerrado hasta el 29/11/2018] La Nueva Gaviota es un restaurante marisquerÃa de Santander que recoge la herencia hostelera de más de 50 años en uno de los mejores barrios de Santander, el Barrio Pesquero.
We flew into Bilbao on Sunday 29th July and were driven to Santander, arriving at a large restaurant area at 15.00 hrs. All the restaurants in the area were extremely popular, but La Gaviota found us a table for 7, including our three grandchildren. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was prompt and efficient. The seafood was of high quality, and my only criticism was that the paella was rather too salt. The atmosphere was relaxed and the meal reasonably priced. A very pleasant first stop on our tour of Northern Spain

Italian food and PizzerÃa. Homemade food cooked at the moment and refresh everyday. Meal in here is good and decently priced. Testy pizza and pasta. The menu is not extensive but fine. No English menu right now, but the stuff can help you with big smile.
Visited this late on a Friday evening. It was busy. Appearances can be deceptive because this place did not look much from the outside but once inside the friendly staff did the necessary and we were soon seated amongst what appeared all locals and very few tourists. In fact we were it. Fantastic service and really lovely tasting pizzas washed down with the house wines. Great wee night and exceptional value for money. Two tasty chocolate fondants to conclude and we were away to happy bunnies. If you are in Santander check this place out, well worth it

After being treated unprofessionally by the waiters from the moment we arrived, we waited ages to order and we were rushed while ordering.. Everyones food arrived at different times and furthermore after having been advertised a 'vegetarian' paella i found fish in it.. Not even any apologies..Such a surprise to find it as second on santanders restaurants seen as so many others are of much higher level..

Looking for a seafood restaurant in the fishing district of Santander? Look no further, you have arrived and you will hit! Specialties of seafood and fresh fish direct from the market prepared in a delicious way while maintaining the flavor of our sea.
Yes, this is not a romantic place. Unlike stated in other reviews, they do have table cloth and tissues, but the setting is far from romantic or cosy.Go there to have seafood and leave when you are done - but people are friendly and the 75⬠marisquerÃa (âtourist platterâ) we shared (2 of us) was fresh, honest and abundant.Thank you for your opinion, we thank you for valuing our products, which indeed are always abundant, and above all fresh and of good quality. With regard to your comment on the romantic atmosphere, we think that love and romanticism goes beyond where the couple is, and has more to do with the moment :-)In any case it's just an opinion. Thank you for visiting us. See you again, or so we hope! :-)

We had dinner at this restaurant, which fully deserves its ranking. The location is quite central, public parking is available nearby (Plaza Numancia). The restaurant has a sober and very tasteful decoration in white and blue tones. The welcoming of the staff and the eagerness of the waiter to explain the whole menu card (there is no english version available) was overwhelming. The food was excellent (warm salad and cold partridge for starters, sirloin with foie gras and roasted pigeon for mains). Appetizers and a glass of Rioja were offered. We wish we could come again...

We found this place through the Lonely Planet guide. The restaurant is run by a charming and welcoming lady, who makes the whole experience a delight. The restaurant itself is cute, cosy and very relaxed. The food was sublime, with a chocolate dessert that nearly had me in tears (of happiness...). One of the best meals Iâve had in years. If itâs the only thing you do in Santander, you wonât have wasted your trip!!

Super friendly staff in a cosy restaurant.Good atmosphere.Great beer, freeze and very well crafted. Croquettes were the only small portion, but perfect for sharing between 2 people.Lasagna was out of Menu, but it was an advice from the staff, snd it was just delicious! Cheesecake, the best moment of the dinner, it was a BLAST!! Make a reservation if you are in the area, because it is quiet busy!I will return soon.
