The hotel is located conveniently near the cross country skiing courses of the valley. The room is clean and the food is very good. The restaurant is also recommended for casual lunch and dinner.

We hiked in the region and stayed here overnight. Lovely rooms (the shared bathrooms were spotlessly clean), very hospitable family running the restaurant/accommocation who we enjoyed talking with (English is no problem!), and we had a great dinner and breakfast. We also highly recommend the hike from here to S-charl which we did after breakfast!Dear Emily, Thank you very much for your voting!

This restaurant is a good lunch/dining option for people visiting St. John cloister (Unesco site) or just having a stroll in Mustair. It is in close proximity to the cloister and to the bus line connecting Italy and Switzerland. Outdoor terrace available, and reasonable selection of cold/warm dishes. Good food (try the local food!) and average price, for being Switzerland. Clean restrooms and nicely decorated interior. Service friendly enough (but not all of them speak English).

The restaurant is attractive inside, with amazing furniture (including a table that seats 12, with a stone oval in the centre and a wooden edge decorated with wooden insets) and decorations. The smells from the kitchen add to the welcome atmosphere. There is a Duplo table in the next room, as well as another box of Duplo in the covered outdoor dining area. The menu also caters for children, with several standard options (eg, spaghetti, nuggets, small schnitzel). There is a range of schnitzels available, all prepared freshly in their kitchen (we heard the meat being tenderised from our table), including schnitzel "Balcun At" which I highly recommend - pork schnitzel filled with smoked ham, onion, cheese and a touch of mustard. The price was also good! Will definitely be going back.

We found this restaurant by accident - passing through Santa Maria at lunch time on our way to the Mustair monastery. We were happily surprised by the interesting menu, relaxed garden seating and the refreshing white wine made by the Guesthouse/Hotel. The restaurant specialises in dishes slow cooked in copper pans, sourcing excellent local ingredients, interestingly put together. For Switzerland's standards, the prices were very reasonable for the calibre of the food. The Ritterhaus building itself goes back around a 1000 years with quite a dramatic history which has led to it being recommended as a place to eat or stay by the My Switzerland website http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/ritterhaus-chasa-de-capol.htmlThe cellar (where the rest rooms are) has an exhibition of fabulous coaches and other paraphernalia the resident family used in the last century. Highly recommended as an interesting place to stop for great food, friendly service and masses of historical ambience.

This is an amazing place ! Check my other tests in the valley but this is the true historic place with outstanding friendliness and service. Thanks a lot for a stunning evening !The owner welcomed us when we reserved the table in the afternoon introducing his house and the kitchen. Returning for dinner we were guided to his favorite ( family ) table and offered the daily specials. We - of course - trusted this warm 70somewhat host and were really happy with his recommendation. Not only his own wine simply put on the table but said from the garden, fruits from the garden and other ingredients from the neighbors. He joined us to tel the story of this 16th century location etc. etc. you can't describe all but this is the place. We will return. Guaranteed. Soon. My excitement is true representation of honest service and being welcome as a guest for a realistic price. You see my typical review being much more critical. Btw. - this is local home kitchen, not star decorated or even trying to. But well prepared, delicious and fresh.

Great food , great ambience, one unique experience. The food here was so good that we soon forgot about the rest of our gastronomic journey around the other parts of Switzerland. The home made apple pies here are to die for. Prices are reasonable for the quality you receive. Am really looking forward to our next return to Crusch Alba.
10 Things to Do in Santa Maria Val Mustair That You Shouldn't Miss
Should you be staying in the hotel to which this restaurant is attached but somehow separate, then good luck and beware of the wood-bugs that come out of the bedroom walls at night to pester you. But dont look to the management to help you out, even if you manage to find someone in the middle of the night! The restaurant lacked warmth or atmosphere, the meat needed a sharp knife and the wheat beer was the same brand that's on sale in UK supermarkets at less than half the price. I know Swiss hospitality can be so much better than this.

Just a few dishes, mixed from local specialities - as well fresh - served in gourmet class quality with excellent wine recommendations. Never saw service thankful like this for every order. Tried the Gemsfilet, Eschforelle and local cheese. Just excellent in combination of the wines and the ambience.
