We came upon this restaurant while looking for somewhere to have lunch without any firm ideas of where to go. It proved to be a real treat. We were greeted by a very young Maitre d' who had all the skills and savoir faire of someone of the old school. The menu was extensive and everything looked delicious although we restricted ourselves to a couple of excellent salads. We were made to feel that we were welcome and important clients which in this day and age is sadly not always the case. Although next to the main road, traffic noise was not intrusive, perhaps because of the nearby roundabout. We were sorry that we were moving on otherwise we would certainly have returned for dinner. Be sure to ask why the restaurant has such a curious name - I doubt if you would guess.

This trendy restaurant proposes typical local food. Sitting in the street, you watch cars (few !) passing and one feels like in south Italy, really âon vacationâ. The tables placed on asphalt are light and not really stable... be careful to not have your wine on the trousers. Service was very friendly and efficient; the food is served rather rapidly. That day we decided to go for duck breast. We would suggest the waiter stresses it is typically served very (but very) raw and asks if some guest would not prefer it less raw... For the rest, the preparations were very tasty and we are convinced, made from fresh products. Attention, payment only in cash. This deserves to be changed.

Improvised lunch with my wife during a 3-day trip in the beautiful region of Anduze.L'O Ã la bouche was recommended to us by a local shop-owner who said they were only using fresh ingredients from the market. The restaurant is located in the centre of the town, in a predominantly pedestrian area, scattered with many tourist shops. The layout and the decoration are pretty simple but the overall impression was good and clean. We were there on a very hot day and several fans were put around the tables, desperately trying to cool down an overheated atmosphere.Service was very friendly and efficient, despite the fact that the place was packed at lunch time. The daily menu was short (3 starters/3 main courses/3 desserts) but diversified and really appetizing. We indeed found the food not only very fresh and tasty but pretty innovative and surprisingly refined considering the listed price of the menu (around 25EUR for 3 courses). My wife had fish and I had meat and both were perfectly cooked and served with several tasty side dishes in small portions. My dessert (chocolate "fondant" with "piment d'espelette" and cream was truly original and very pleasant). We did congratulate the Chef for the quality of his offering.I do recommend this restaurant if you happen to visit Anduze. Value for money is very far above usual standards.

Fairly recent restaurant, young owners/ managers/ chef; Comfortable and cosy inside, warm and efficient welcome and service. The terrace is splendid, but too cold for when we were there. A little expensive though, especially the chicory salad with nuts and roquefort, though it was delicious. I had roast veal which was fantastic. And the choice of deserts was huge, and every desert that arrived on our four person table was outstanding. Good wine list, good coffee. No rush, no hassle.

Valestaliere had set a gourmet, 5 course, dinner up, together with winewaker Samuel Delafont and it was marvellous:)From the foie gras, over the scallops, to the lamb, followed by excellent cheeses and a delicious dessert, all accompagnied by very good wines. It was a joy.Bravo Marlene, Benoit and your perfect staff

All dishes looked picture perfect and for the most part tasted equally good. The fried part of my starter was certainly the least dish on the day. The rest was just great. All in all easily the best of 7 restaurants I visited in Anduze ( and the others weren't bad at all ! ). The cafe gourmand was a true delight, will gladly return.

This restaurant was recommended to us as we love good fish but it is not easy to find. The restaurant does not look very appealing from outside but it has a modern and trendy interior with an open kitchen. They have a lunch menu starting at just 16⬠for the main course, 19⬠for main + dessert or starter + main or 22⬠for a 3 meal course. This is worth every Euro. The quality of the food is excellent and served in a very nice way. They give you time to enjoy lunch and are very friendly. They also have main course from the menu and the bouillabaisse is just awesome. They serve an excellent rosé wine at just 20⬠a bottle.I will definitely go back when around and would recommend this to everybody to do also!Dear DavyDS, We are glad to read your review and recommandation about Le Petit Phare! Our entire team do his best every day to satisfy the guests, cooking the best products at your view, with the opened kitchen area.We really appreciate to know that we will serve you back in the future!Best regards,The Managers

Ate here with two friends and we enjoyed a good meal from the fairly limited menu. We have eaten here many times and keep coming back. This is not a gourmet restaurant(there aren't any in St Jean du Gard) but they serve straightforward wholesome food well. I particularly like the Gateaux de Cepes as a starter and also the tagliatelli with a cream and smoke salmon sauce. One of our friends had a veal casserole and said it was very tasty. The young lady who has served us the last two or three times we have eaten here was as enchanting as ever. A ready smile and a helpful and friendly manner make such a difference to the enjoyment of an evening in a restaurant and this young lady has it all. If she has the ambition she could do very well in the business.

Went here with my mum, brother, sister in law and their three kids (2, 4, and 6). It was a great restaurant experience, and *all* the staff (including manager) looked after us amazingly. Very professional but not formal, flexible, and full of genuinely helpful suggestions. The best service I've ever had. The food was a bit underwhelming, I'll confess, but fine. The setting and overall experience were so good that it still means five stars in my book...

We ate here twice. The first night was the best - huge perfectly cooked swordfish steak, and beautiful chicken with a mushroom sauce. The price fixe is excellent value at 13.90 for three generous portions. The second evening service was equally fantastic but both our duck and steak were rather overcooked, served with a divine pepper sauce nevertheless. We would definitely go again.
