Fantastic seafood and service at this quayside restaurant. Enjoy the comings and goings of the fishing fleet while you dine on a top-class seafood dish served by friendly English speaking staff with a backdrop of authentic blues music. Follow up with a tasty dessert. Take some beating this. 13.50⬠menu of the day (2 courses)/3 courses and a drink for two people â¬35. Excellent!

Great place to sit on a sunny afternoon, overlooking the fishing huts and small waterway. The food was excellent. Not only our main fish dishes but also the children's food (mussels) were really very good. The wine was nice too. Service could have been a touch friendlier but I guess they were very busy. I had to prove I was eating there to use the toilet!

May look at little like a beach bar from the outside but this place has it all - authentic french cuisine, great service and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Menu predominately seafood /fish based, we were a party of six each with adventurous palettes and adored every dish put in front of us. Amazing experience and what a find! Highly recommend the beetroot & goats cheese starter and obviously, the Marennes oysters or course!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in this area. I have been eating here for over 20 years. It has developed from a âshackâ by the harbour to a âsophisticatedâ and well established restaurant. You can eat inside o on the veranda by the creek. There is ample shade outside and you can watch the fishing boats as they go out or come back ladder with mussels. It is a very pleasant location and very popular. The food is very good - it is more varied than simple sea food which sets it apart from other eateries by the port. All the food is very fresh and well presented. The service is very good - helpful and attentive. It is worth the struggle if you do not speak French. It is a little more expensive than other nearby restaurants but you get what you pay for. I recommend it without hesitation.

Stopped here with grandchildren who wanted pizza after day on beach. Pizzas and service were good.but for the life of me couldnt pay my bill.despite asking three different members of staff, no addicion, was about to leave (had been sitting on my own for over 15 mins) family went shopping, waving debit card.when 8.00pm sitting arrived, table cleared debit card machine arrived.merci and au revoir. France still needs to up its game with customer service. Would go back as best pizza encountered in Charente.

We dined twice in this seaview restaurant during our 5-night stay in Marennes. The décor is clean and modern and the friendly staff give good service. We started our meals with wonderful selection of oysters. On the first evening I had fish of the day which was good but I found the accompanying baby veggies rather greasy. The second evening I had the grilled giant prawns (from La Tremblade) which were flamed with brandy. The prawns were excellent but I failed to detect the brandy. The dish was accompanied by French-style risotto (a bit like Ambrosia rice pudding). Their cheeses are absolutely excellent. Good wine in carafe.

It was November, so just pleased to find somewhere open and populated. A friendly welcome was garnished by some interesting (fish) specials. We went for one each and they did not disappoint. Tasty, superbly presented, and the type of dish which would have not been out of place in a top English restaurant. The owner was friendly and welcoming, the ambience relaxing, and sufficient customers to give the place life, without being crowded (unlikely to happen, I know, at the fag end of the season). We'll return - probably quite often.

Have been visiting this restaurant for many years and it gets better and better. The food, wine, and general ambience is superb. The same family have also run it for many years and the service and general welcome could not be bettered. My family, who come from other parts of Europe, consider it a major part of their visit.

a cut above the usual and nearby restaurants and not that much more expensive but well worth it.Good value on the 24.5 euro plat de jour with a very inventive chef and menu.Four of us had dinner without anything to fault. The gambas and ,salmon starters were superb, as was the pork cheek and fish for mains. . The chocolate and framboise deserts were pleasantly filling.Excellent service and atmosphere.
