With over 30 years of history, Il Giardino is an Italian restaurant that serves good honest food, sourced from local suppliers. Throw in the virtues of traditional service, and these are the values which underpin this family-run restaurant's ethos.
Whenever we dine at this family run restaurant we are greeted like old friends by the father and son double act. To avoid disappointment we recommend booking a table, taking your apperative in the glazed lobby overlooking the pier, and then settling down to a delicious lunch or dinner.

Our aim is simple, to use local seasonal produce to create stunning small plates to be enjoyed in a relaxed environment!
We enjoyed the best Sunday lunch weâve had in ages, today - at the Birch.Roast beef was locally sourced, tender and tasted delicious.Accompanying veg were interesting and the roast potatoes perfection. Our plates were finished with a very tasty gravy and home made Yorkshire puddings. We chose a chocolate fondant and treacle tart for dessert, followed by a small shared plate of Cornish yarg cheese and biscuits served with onion chutney and a glass of superb dessert wine.Coffee had a strong rich flavour and rounded off a very good dining experience, nicely.Tom as always was simply the best host, and nothing was too much trouble for him or his brother, who ensured everyone in this beautiful bijou restaurant had the best time.Great ambience as always.

Seasonal modern British cooking in a pair of shipping containers with just 14 seats and a further four at our 'kitchen table' where we serve a tasting menu.
Chose this based on TA reviews. Tiny and quirky but fabulous meal and attentive and knowledgeable table service. Can recommend the leek soup and plaice starters and the hake and lamb rump mains. The "House" pinot noir is a delight. We don't visit Bristol often but this will be our dining spot of choice.

Just spent the weekend in Bristol and found TARE restaurant by chance on the internet. Many nice things said so thought we should give it a try. Two choices, meat or veggie, £44 for your complete menu. Very reasonably priced bottle of wine, attentive knowledgeable staff. Best meal that we have had in ages, lovely flavours and combinations. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, I think we will be back.

We were staying at the hotel next door so decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed. We had prawns and Parmesan fries to start. Lasagne and bolognese to follow. Food was delicious. Not too much. Just good portions. Staff helpful and friendly. We would return. Was a very nice meal.

Had a family meal here for a birthday get together. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Most of us had the set Sunday menu though could have something from the main menu due to food intolerances/vegetatian. Good size portions and plenty of accompanying veggies. The smorgsboard as a starter is a great idea. Wine was lovely. Definitely would come back. Dear mayolite99,Thank you for taking the time out to leave us such lovely feedback! My Mum was recommended this restaurant and thought sheâd take us along on a Sunday to try out their Sunday lunch. The main menu is available to order from, along with a special 3 course Sunday lunch menu. The restaurant is nicely modern inside with a beautiful glass ceiling allowing plenty of light to flood into the main seating area. The flooring is flat, no steps on the way in or in the area we were seated so Mum was fine using her walker and walking sticks to move about the restaurant space. Tables arenât crammed in either so she was able to keep the walker by her side at the table. 3 of us ordered from the Sunday lunch menu and 1 from the main menu.Lovely starters of pork terrine, soup and goats cheese bureks were enjoyed by all. When the main dishes came out, we couldnât believe the size of the Sunday lunch portions. Plenty on the plates, each with a Yorkshire and yummy vegetables. I enjoyed my Sunday lunch roast lamb and my husband had the slow roasted lamb shank served with roasted vegetables and couscous. Desserts of Crema Catalana and Lemon Cheescake disappeared quickly too, even though we all thought we had no room to eat them. Coffees all round at the end of the meal. I canât speak to value for money as it was Mumâs treat but, we loved the food and atmosphere and will go back again. The restaurant was busy but didnât feel overcrowded although it can get a little noisy under the glass ceiling section. There was a table of 14 amongst the other tables but no noticeable hiatus in service. We are delighted you enjoyed your dining experience with us and look forward to seeing you again. Thank you
