We came here on a Saturday afternoon and found it underwhelming. The food is above average but the beef dish we ordered was a little tough. The wine menu is very nice though and I liked how it provided descriptions to help you narrow down what you'd like. The service was probably the part we found less appealing -- it felt like they were very understaffed. There were probably about 10-12 tables but only two servers for all of them. As a result, it was nearly impossible to flag one down to take your order or ask for anything. We probably sat for a good 25-30 min before we finally had someone take down our order. It was like they tried to avoid making eye contact with you until the end of your meal so you wouldn't request them to do anything extra. I think the service could have been so much better had they had another 1-2 servers on hand to accommodate for the restaurant patrons. At least the chocolate dessert in the prix fixe menu was pretty good. Location is excellent as it's right in the town square of Sancerre.

Most of the ingredients are local products. The chef has a high reputation of making home made terrines and many other local specialties.Interesting wine menu wich offers a range of local Sancerre wines both in red and white, all at the same price. There is possibility for outdoor seating. The setting is near the very center of Sancerre, almost on top of the hill.

We travel to Sancerre at least once, usually twice, a year, and a trip to this restaurant (ideally, more than one) is always a highlight for me. The staff are immensely welcoming and friendly. (I honestly do not recognise the stories from people saying they are not - I am sorry to hear them, but in all the years I have gone it has never been my experience.) The food is very good - not earthshattering, but delicious, and my daughter would go for the gougeres alone. It is very seasonal, and local, and delicious. The wine list is excellent, and very reasonably priced. It is essential to book in summer, as they can sometimes get full (and there is only ever one seating); there is more flexibility in the winter, but even then it is best to book.

Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. We were lucky to find it, and to get in without a booking! Situated in the centre of the town, itâs aged charm is the first thing you notice. Everything was done in a charming and professional manner and we were made to feel extremely welcome and weâre jot rushed, even though it was a busy lunch time at the height of the summer season. The food was amazing! You could order from a 3 or 4 course menu or the a la Carte. They served lots of little dishes that were complimentary which added to the meal. The veal was so delicious and tender and beautifully presented. The fish was brought to the table and the waiter expertly filleted it on a little side table as we watched. Then he served it in the plate.....it was a very big portion and was simply mouthwatering. This is a top class restaurant and I recommend it to anyone visiting this town or the surrounding area. You would be well advised to book in advance. Congratulations on a stunning restaurant and an incredible dining experience.

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. It is located in the heart of Sancerre so very walk-able if you are staying in the city itself. Interior is bright and attractive. The staff/waitress were very friendly. The do have an English menu but speak little English themselves. We had a very nice salad. We split it and were happy we did so. We each ordered a pizza. If you are really hungry this is the way to go. It was very good. (I can't call it "Best pizza ever.") We probably could have split one of these as well. They have beer, wine and other drinks. I think we will return before we depart the area.

We booked in on the off-chance to stay two nights in the area and, arriving in the late afternoon, we decided to eat in the restaurant. We could not have made a wiser choice as the cuisine was superb and the service was very professional. We booked immediately to eat on our second night too and were not disappointed by the choice available and the style and panache displayed in the cooking and presentation. We were able to talk to the Chef/Proprietor and heard about the history of the Hotel and their continued insistence on the use of local and often home grown produce. Our room for the stay was traditionally decorated, well in keeping with the age of the property. The bed was comfortable and we slept well, rising to enjoy our breakfast which again included home made produce, jams and yogurt. When we visit the area again, this will be our Hotel and Restaurant of choice.

Fine dining. Lovely ambience in the restaurant. Food was beautifully presented with flair and creativity. Just a short walk from our boat mooring in the St Thibault embranchement. We had a great night and would certainly return.(The patisserie on the corner is also excellent and well worth visiting for breakfast croissants and pastries. One of the best we found).

We had diner in this restaurant near the river Loire. The quality of the food is more than average, but so are the prices. Unfortunately the restaurant is not very cosy. It looks like a clean hotel restaurant without any nice lighting, flowers, music etc.The service is professional, but not very personal or friendly. Many items of the menu nor available, but without any warning before.
