Stylish restaurant in the center of Pienza
This is a professional, elegant, modern-Tuscan restaurant, but I am not sure it justifies the price. We had here our most expensive meal in a 12-day trip in central Tuscany. Now, it was indeed a very good meal: delicious antipasti (zucchini carpaccio, burrata, mixed salad), terrific lamb chops, very good pasta amatriciana and gnocchi, two yummy desserts and a good bottle of white wine. But at more than 50 Euros per person (excluding tip), you can probably do better here. Also, there was an irritating incident with the wine. At the beginning of the evening, I asked for - and was promptly given - a taste of two white wines, both offered at 20 Euros a bottle. I chose one of them, and we were served a bottle of what was presumably the wine I chose. The bill included a bottle of another white wine altogether, at 30 Euros. I commented on this and was told by the waiter: but this is the wine you just drank! I insisted it was not the wine I chose, and (to their credit) they changed the bill accordingly with no further argument. But it did leave a somewhat bitter taste. Still, a very good dinner.

I eat here quite often, it's just outside the town's front gate. Lovely food, very well cooked and presented. The pizza isn't outstanding but it's more than competent. But why bother with pizza when there are so many other interesting dishes? Very friendly staff and exceptionally reasonable prices. Probably the best value in the town.

I promised to come again when in the region ... so we did . As it was a Friday evening we made a reservation for an early start . The chef is passionated by his profession and and passes this on to the customer . When it is a full house you need some patience but it is worth it . We had the first oil of the season yummy , could not be fresher and tastier . The chef explains in English or Italian what he proposes and it is goooood . We try to go for the plates that are from the region and unknown to us and never disappointed . C U next time Gianluca .

We had dinner for 14 including small children. They could not have been nicer. It is very quiet, and the waiters were super attentive. The presentation of the dishes was fun and original . The fixed price menu had at least 6 courses. Pigeon, amuse bouche, great pate and lots of wine. It was long and leisurely. Admittedly, some of the kids got a little wiggly and one or two of us has a bit too much to drink, but the staff was tolerant and super professional at all times. They made our one big fancy dinner out as a family on our last night together very special indeed. Grazie!

Wonderful dining experience with lovely, warm and friendly staff. Rabbit mousse appetiser was excellent. Lovely ricotta cake with pear. A bold and bitter pici pasta dish. Excellent homage to mushrooms. Well cooked pigeon with cacao nibs. Diverse and wonderful cheese course. A show-stopping pear and ginger sorbet. Pistachio cannoli with passion fruit sorbet. Excellent wine and vin Santo. Truly great night.

We have been coming to Cortona for 20 years and decided to try a place other than our old favorites. We were sorely disappointed in the flavorless food and chaotic service Perhaps it is to your old favorites that our excellence is annoying, not being of the place and having had many consents.It is clear and evident, the Cortona Bistrot is under media attack. Too many negative reviews have been made in such a short time. Yet since we opened 5 years ago, nothing has changed. I'm in the room talking and serving customers and my wife in the kitchen preparing everything we serve. We are the only local in the area that has a fully-open kitchen and customers love to watch Anita prepare everything beforehand and cook when they order later. With the restaurant always full of customers and with a varied menu like ours, she manages to make everything come out perfectly and with perfect times.With us it is impossible that the food, so-called then in a too general way, has no taste. And all prepared from "0", fresh pasta, jams, sauces, desserts, sauces ... ..The service may be a bit chaotic maybe only when the place is completely full of customers.Hiring 45 seats in two people in the dining room, with excellent service and attention to the smallest details like ours, is sometimes not easy at all. But everyone can understand it.Unfortunately, many of our colleagues emotionally involve some customers in order to do reviews like that. Purtroppo molti nostri colleghi coinvolgono emotivamente alcuni clienti al fine di fare recensioni del genere. Nuova strategia per salire di classifica e ricevere più clienti possibili. Questo accade a chi non brilla di luce propria e deve necessariamente danneggiare gli altri per tentare di emergere. Siamo sempre più delusi della falsità di molti clienti che durante la cena sorridono, mangiano tutto quello che serviamo fino a fare la scarpetta nel piatto per poi ringraziare di cuore e fare invece nei giorno seguenti, recensioni negative, completamente opposte da come invece si sono comportati nel locale. Siamo sempre più delusi del fatto che TripAdvisor non tutela in questo caso noi ristoratori a certi attacchi premeditati. Non è possibile che chiunque possa scrivere qualcosa solo perché loro controllano lâID di provenienza. Malgrado tutto, noi saremo sempre pieni di clienti perché ormai ci conoscono non solo in zona. Il nostro successo è stato determinato da un potente, costante ed irrefrenabile âpassaparolaâ che ora ha raggiunto anche le grandi città limitrofe, dalle quali provengono sempre più numerosi clienti. Vengono a Cortona per mangiare da noi, non vengono da noi perché si trovano a Cortona. Queste recensioni non faranno altro che aumentare la nostra notorietà , al di là di una stupida classifica facilmente modificabile per interessi propri da chiunque. Grazie a tutti.

We have been here 2 years ago and this time, several dishes seemed even better. The interesting salads are still very good and very unique for a Tuscan restaurant. The pici with sausage, cheese, and dried fruit was the best I have ever had. My wife's gnocchi with zucchini flower pesto was also excellent and again different to anywhere else we eat. Their idea for tiramisu was really good. We went back a second time and everything was excellent. We met a wondrous part of the "team" Beatrice and also met the new owner, who assured us the restaurant would not change. Good wine list with correct prices. Must reserve via phone as they can be packed at night, not so much for lunch.

We ate here twice whilst staying in the hotel, the first night with 4 friends who also really enjoyed the experience.During our two visits we tasted the risotto with peaches & ham (sublime), melon & proscuitto, fillet steak & sliced steak as well as the potato & mushroom starter & pasta with tomato & chilli sauce. All were very good & the cheese cake (pina colada I think) was outstanding.Specials stayed the same both nights which was a shame but the variety is pretty good on the a la carte & prices were very reasonable. Wine & prosecco at 15 euros a bottle is very good VFM.Service was slow on night 1 but very efficient on night 2. We ate here for lunch and dinner during our stay, and loved every minute. This team provides a level of attentive service that is both excellent and genuinely warm. We were certainly impressed with the kitchen (and the wine cellar is full of treasures) but it was the funny, engaging, delightful staff that put our experience over the top. Such a find!
