Passed a number of times when it's not been open, lucky this W/E. Coffee is very good and the scones were still warm served with plenty of butter and lovely blackcurrant jam, which is a nice change. Service was efficient and friendly, price was very reasonable. It is quite small and narrow so may not be super accessible.

We were staying at Nanny Brow in Ambleside and Susan the proprietor suggest we try Steam and even made the booking for us. She really âsoldâ it as a place to eat and she was so right, it was lovely. This bistro is only small but itâs perfectly formed. Really nice staff, pretty surroundings and great food. The sticky beef was delicious and the beef blade was melt in the mouth delicious. I have no doubt that we will return on our next trip to the Lakes!

We hadn't decided where to eat and early on a Friday evening, downstairs was booked up. Fortunately they are very accommodating and there's a good space upstairs.Excellent service and we all enjoyed our food, it's tasty, homely food not fine dining. I had the Fettuccine with Chicken and Mushrooms in a cream sauce, it's something you could probably knock up yourself but it was well cooked and delicious.2 litre bottles of house Red, around £20, you'll pay a lot more for less in the area. We'll no doubt be back next year.

Our last visit to Jackson's was in April 2018. We were amazed when we were seated at our table on this visit and the waiter looked at us and said "you've been here before, haven't you?" Great memory!Jackson's is a small place situated in the centre of Bowness. The restaurant is located over two levels - a ground floor and a basement - and the menu was unchanged from our last visit. We started with some bread and olive oil and it was a good start, the different types of bread served warm on a platter. For our main courses my wife had the supreme of chicken and I had the lamb Henry. Both dishes were well presented and absolutely delicious, and we cleaned our plates. I couldn't resist a dessert and the chocolate orange cheesecake tempted me and left me completely stuffed.Divine food and friendly staff make this a place you really should seek out. Look forward to going again hopefully before too long.

Lovely cosy restaurant although allowing lots of space for dinners between tables, it was a relaxed and almost casual feel. Tempting menu choices - do NOT miss the snacks pre starter. We have the Comte puffs and Truffle pudding - oh my goodness me. They were amazing. Superb staff - so knowledgeable, friendly, professional and accommodating. We also had breakfast here both mornings - incredible experience itself. Beautifully and thoughtfully presented - memorable for breakfast alone! Highly recommended.

Ate at the estuary last night. The food was excellent. I had mushroom bruschetta which was really tasty. I then had the risotto which was cooked well and full of flavour. No room for dessert. We dined here in October 2019. Everything about this restaurant is absolutely spot-on - the relaxed, warm welcome and similarly relaxed atmosphere are in contrast to the technical quality of the food and the well-balanced service, which was attentive without being in your face. The accompanying wine flight was expensive for what it was, but I'm not going to begrudge that because it's all part of the experience of dining in a remarkable restaurant such as this. Definitely coming again.
