Lovely setting and attentative staff.Our starter of homus, pitta and olives could have come straight from the Co-op. The calamari was lovely £7 for 6 rings !!!Our seafood sharing platter was tasty especially the homemade fishcake.a homemade seafood sauce would have been better(note it does not come with any bread)The cheese board was a) tiny and b) fridge temperature - who does that to cheese ? Thus rendering all but the mature waxed morsel tastelessAll in all a big dissapointment

Had a wonderful lunch at lanes with friends. Lovely building, a sympathetically converted chapel with tables on different levels so that you never felt crowded or overheard. We were made so welcome and service was exceptional.It was difficult to choose from the tempting options on the menu . I had a very tasty stuffed mushroom starter , delicious and perfectly cooked smoked haddock with a butter sauce and veg main and a creme brûlée dessert . A plate of petit fours to share with happy birthday written in chocolate arrived with our coffee . Which was a lovely surprise and a very generous gesture from the restaurant .Really special lunch , we all enjoyed our meals and the friendly ambience. We will be back !

We visited this restaurant on Saturday evening and were left stunned by the lack of knowledge or care taken by kitchen and waiting staff. We chose mussells as a starter which were served with homemade bread. This was 'slopped' on to the table with the bread piled on top of the mussels. The bread was brown with lots of dark pieces about the size of a 5 pence in the mix, when I asked what it was the waiter said I don't know, so I asked if he could find out, he came back proudly that the bread contained walnuts. I explained I was alergic and couldn't eat this. He offered to take the bread off the dish, then thought again and offered to take the whole dish away! When we were paying at the end of the meal the restaurant manager apoligised for the fact that the bread had nuts in but said the chef decides what to make so they don't make it clear on the menu as he decides what bread he wants to make! Not being clear about food labelling is not about choices its about life threatening affects, I was shocked at the blaise attitude of the staff and their lack of awareness, please train your staff and make your food labelling clear. The rest of the meal was nothing to write home about and the service was without any care. Eating out is supposed to be a pleasant experience, from the way you are greated through the moment you leave. The only two members of staff who made a positive impression were the barman who served us in the little bar and the new bar maid who made us feel welcome apart from that there is nothing positive to say about our evening. I'm giving one rating as I don't know if its possible to give a reveiw without a mark but if I could I would give a minus.CCB27,Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Allergies and intolerences are something that we deal with each and every day, and all of our team are trained on how to handle allergies.Having spoke in depth with all of the team that were involved with the service of your food on Saturday evening, it is apparent that nobody was made aware of any nut allergies until the food arrived at your table. Although our menu does not list each allergen in each dish, our menus do state that allergenic ingrdients are used throughout our kitchen and we request that you make our staff aware should you suffer from any allergies/intolereances. We went for lunch on Sunday to celebrate a birthday. We arrived early but the team were completely unfazed. Food was excellent; service was exemplary and prices fair (not cheap: fair). Everything was superb with the exception of parking which is always a bit tricky here.............

We had a short break stay at the South lawns Hotel . Our second visit . This time we dined at the restaurant. The menu was varied but we opted for the set menu options . We both had a fish starter. Presentation was excellent , the portion size was just right and it tasted fresh. I had the ham pie and my husband the whole sea bass. Again , tasty and excellent value. We couldn't resist the whiskey sponge pudding ! All in all we would thoroughly recommend the dinning experience.Not that we had a dog but they had a separate area for dinners with dogs. Inclusive of wine and a beer together with the 3 courses it came to a total of £52.00 for two. Staff were attentive and service was prompt. Superb!We are pleased to read you enjoyed your dining with us and thank you for your review. We hope to see you again soon.

We stayed in the hotel and looked forward to have a beautiful dinner at the Dining Room. Food is nice but way too expensive for what it is. It's a typical example where the prices are so high that your expectations are very high and you get fuzzy. My husband a fillet and had to send it back because it was undercooked, when it came back it was chewy.I had the vegetarian Thai curry which was not as half as good as the same curry from my local Thai in Sydney which costs a third.For Breakfast the Dining Room is GREAT though. Dear 383karinj, Thank you for taking the time to leave such balanced feedback. I am very sorry to learn that you didn't find value for money and I have shared you feedback with Luke Matthews, our Executive Head Chef. We do review our pricing quite regularly and whilst I personally do understand your point of view, we are competitively priced alongside our direct competitors. Googled best Sunday Roast in Dorset and Lord Bute came highly recommended. Can certainly endorse this recommendation! 15 of us celebrating my Mums 90th Birthday - she will not forget the experience - restaurant ambiance very nice, a lovely welcome on arrival, very attentive staff and amazing four course lunch all served at a relaxed pace. A nice lunch with an old family friend who is a local resident and has eat at Pebble beach many times before. Great atmosphere, nice decor and attentive service. My wife and our friend shared a smoked duck which was beautifully presented and plenty for two. I had the tempura prawns with home made chutney and a spicy tomato sauce. The sauce was superfluous but the prawns and chutney were delicious. I had fish and chips which was nice but the batter a touch under done, my wife and our friend had filet steak which was perfectly cooked and very nice and for pud we had two tiramisu and a choux pastry and ice cream desert which was very nice. Overall nice meal and for that reason I would recommend the Pebble beach for lunch and for dinner too!)
