Reviews on European food in Nazare, Central Portugal, Portugal. Nazare, named after the Biblical “Nazareth” in the 4th century, is Portugal’s most famous fishing village, now becoming important as well in the world of big wave, tow-in surfing. The tallest wave ever recorded being surfed – by a Hawaiian big-wave surfer – was off Nazare.

We were so relieved to find not only an Italian restaurant, but one with pleasant, tasty and well priced food. Lovely fresh salads beautifully presented. Yummy lasagna with plenty of sauce and simple but delicious penne with a cream based sauce. My ice cream was more sorbet and my partnerâs a creamy treat topped with a chocolate cookie. Our waiter was a gem, courteous, attentive without intruding. And, this was the only establishment in weeks of travel around Portugal without a television!Only sounds were people softly chatting and enjoying the experience of dining.

Two spicy chefs
Great looking venue in a beautiful setting for anytime of day (best book or go at off peak times as busy busy place). Well designed menu, food impeccably presented and taste to match. Service even better considering how many tables each of the two servers had to look after & he even made time to give our baby a cuddle & make us all smile! Another reason to return to Nazare!!!

Had a tapas lunch here today food was A1 lovely little place very busy I did not like the beer it was a wheat beer not to my taste but food was great. Service slow but the quality of the food made up for it. Highly recommended as long as you are not in a rush.

Days off Wednesday Thursday at lunch time
We hoped this restaurant would live up to expectations after reading so many good reviews .... and it really did. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and tasty. The shrimp Diablo was lovely and the pork tenderloin was delicious (I had it in mushroom sauce and our daughter had the garlic and herd option). Salads and potatoes were great too. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We liked it so much we have booked to go again.

The service, the owner and the food were amazing in this little Taverna. We fell in love with this family run restaurant. The fish was very tasty and if you are there, the deserts are a must-eat!

Vinha d 'Alhos is an open and very nice place. It presents a rustic but sober decoration and attentive to the details, with a service of excellence and a warm atmosphere, because these are requirements that its owners do not hesitate to provide to those w
After spending a morning in busy Nazare, we elected to drive 4 KM to this restaurant in the sleepy village of Valado. It was a good decision. Behind a colorful street-side façade lies a light, attractive and well-appointed dining room. We selected salmon which was baked in the oven and served piping hot. It was delicious, and the portions were generous. (See the picture of the half that I took away for another lunch!) We munched on olives and freshly baked bread before the salmon arrived and washed the meal down with a half bottle of very tasty white wine. The total bill was 29 Euro before we added a generous tip for the excellent service. The menu was in Portuguese but that wasn't a problem because our server explained everything. After lunch we explored the train station close to the restaurant which serves as the station for Nazare.

This is a decent, average restaurant catering to masses of tourists. Nothing really wrong., but not much to rave about. We had three fabulous mixed salads, a steal at 2.5 euros each. One very well done hamburger, one plate of clams, and one âhot saladâ ( six or seven clams and six or seven very good shrimp in a soy sauce. One had chicken breasts that were tasty but too much to eat. One bottle of full bodied reserve white wine. I also had fish soup that did not taste of fish â rather bland, which is typical of Portuguese soups. Nice waiters, but not the type to engage customers. Overall: not at all bad, but nothing to write home about. Average across the board.

After reading reviews we knew we had to eat here and we were not disappointed. We got there early, just before 7pm which meant we could choose where to sit, it got busy quickly and when we left there was a queue! We chose a fish to share, it was cooked quickly and perfectly. The waiter expertly removed the bones, whilst telling us about the fish - the different flavours and textures of different parts. Absolutely delicious! The only thing to note, is that they only take cash!Sr thomastravelsworldFicámos muito felizes que tenham gostado do nosso espaço foi um gosto tê-los conhecido. Where to eat Steakhouse food in Nazare: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We found this restaurant on trip advisor and went as a table of six for a family Birthday celebration, the place is done out beautifully, and the menu looked good, the waiter was very polite but very slow and seemed to be in a world of his own, we asked for water and wine to begin with and had to ask after 15 mins of looking at the wine sat on the bar if he could open it (we were the only people in the restaurant at this time) he replied âoh do you want to have it nowâ yes we replied slightly confused at his question, we then had to ask three times for the water, we decided on the sharing plates (three different types) between us for starters which were lovely although along time coming, then the mains came, all seemed well until one of the steaks was rare (very) and we asked if it could go back on for a little longer as we had asked for it to be medium, after waiting 25 mins and all other people at the table had finished the meal we called the waiter over and said that it had been too long and that we no longer wished to have the steak as the person had already been eating their side dishes and didnât want to sit and eat alone at this point as everyone else was done, the waiter said ok and apologized, 10 mins later a man came over with a tight t-shirt on and muscles and veins bulging and said here is your steak, he was extremely angry and rude, we explained that we had cancelled the steak and why, he picked the steak up and walked off not happy, we felt that he had come over to try and intimidate us, he then proceeded for the next 20 mins to talk to all other staff and point continuously over at us, he then lent on the bar and started angrily staring over at us until we left, we asked another man who looked like the owner a question and he completely ignored us, it is such a shame that they reacted so badly to something they had done wrong in the first place, my advise would be to get rid of the rude muscle man and listen to your customers orders and cook the food to the way theyâve asked in the first place and then your restaurant might succeed, it was a BIRTHDAY MEAL RUINED as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant like this beforeHello,We apologize for this situation. There was definitely lack of communication between our two waiters which originated this situation. We are sure that our waiter didn't want to intimidate you and this was a very punctual situation, due to the lack of communication. We care a lot with our costumers and we are really sorry for your bad experience. However, we would like to have you back in order to give you a better experience than the previous one.
