I've always thought Red Earth was overrated and could never see what the fuss was about. I've been at different times for different occasions and again this visit did nothing to change my opinion. The place itself was very busy, too hot and the majority of tables were full, it was hard to find a free one with space for a baby chair. Tables are on top of each other and unfortunately the chance for conversation is limited due to the noise levels of neighbouring tables! The ordering system is a little confusing and food was slow to arrive. I feel there are nicer places to eat in Mullingar that are better value for money.

The Charles Brinsley Restaurant at historic Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar is named after Charles Brinsley Marlay who bought the property in 1866. It is a well-appointed dining room with window tables offering fabulous views over the grounds and lake.
I first visited Charles Brinsley coming up to my recent wedding in The Bloomfield House Hotel and have only gotten around to reviewing it now. The service, food and atmosphere were all above and beyond what is expected. The staff in particular were fantastic, very chatty with clear and simple understanding of the whole menu! Thanks again to the restaurant for the fantastic meal! Highly recommend

First time here today. Food was really good(had pad Thai). Slightly on the expensive side but in saying that I would eat there again. The main shop was lovely with loads of lovely household items. Staff were very friendly. Will be back!

The food was superb. My daughter is vegan and the vegan dinner she ordered looked good to even this old carnivore. I had the duck. It was absolutely wonderful but my ordering it did lead to a painful and swift kick in my shin by one certain vegan daughter whose initials are Paad. Subtle is not to be found in that girl. But my duck had more than enough subtle flavors to please my palate.

Popped in to the Church Restaurant for lunch recently and cannot fault it.Food was delicious reasonably priced and served nice and hot . Staff were very helpful and courteous. Special mention to Pat the manager who could not do enough for our small party and treated us to a complimentary dessert for the occasion we were celebrating. Will be back for sure !!

Visited here yesterday. When we walked in, we were completely overwhelmed by the smell of cleaning fluid/detergent. We should have left then, but we were so hungry! Starter was goats cheese with blackberry/currant coulis - this looked lovely but did not taste good. I ate the bread underneath but not the cheese itself as it tasted a tad "off." The main of cod with mango salsa looked beautiful. The fish was cooked really well but the salsa lacked flavour and I strongly think the dish could be improved with a sauce. The vegetables were lovely and, with the rice, were very nice. The overall feeling from myself and my husband was disillusionment - added to the feeling that it's overpriced. Maybe we got it on a bad day? Not sure, probably won't be back...I'd like to add in here too that I did not raise any complaint about the goat's cheese with the server and probably should have...so that's on me. :-)

Italian and Mediterranean Cuisine, cooked freshly , with mixture of all local ingredients and Italian Mediterranean
My two friends and I marked a birthday here recently on a busy Saturday night. We had made a reservation in advance. I had the Penne Arrabiata, â¬6.95, pasta in Red Sauce with Garlic & Chilli for starters which was delicious & packed a punch & for mains I had the tagliatelle di frutti mara in a creamy sauce for â¬16.45. It had plenty of fish & was very good. We were well looked after & I would recommend here for a special occasion. I thought it was well priced. Keep doing what you're doing! Thanks a million Emily for your lovely comments, hope to see you again soon
