Tucked away in the old quarter of Penzance, The Cornish Barn is a rustic restaurant, bar and smokehouse in Penzance serving a wholesome menu with a focus on fresh Cornish produce â all helped along by craft beers and wines from local independent vineyards
We had drinks here one night, and came back the next night for dinner. We loved the warm, cosy decor, good choice of drinks and pretty good food. The only thing that wasnât great was the service; a lot of errors both times, the staff were friendly but lacked professionalism. They forgot to bring menus and to seat us in the restaurant until well after the reservation time, and every drinks order was messed up. All in all, however, we forgave the slapdash service because the ambiance and food made up for it. We would go again if we were in the area.Good evening honeyHenleyonThames,Thank you for your time writing this review.I am happy to hear that you loved the atmosphere of the Restaurant, and I will be sure to pass on your comments about the food on to the kitchen.I am sorry that the service was not to the standards that you wanted. The Old Lifeboat House has great character and they have used it well to create a really nice dining experience. They offer great service and welcomed our dog to sit quietly under the table. The menu is good with plenty of fish options. The quality, flavours and presentation were fantastic and the Chocolate Affogato to finish - superb. Thoroughly recommend.

Firstly they allow dogs.Secondly though busy they provide good service and try and stagger the sittings to give the kitchens a chance. Thirdly the menu is decent, the food is tasty and well presented and in huge portion sizes.Thoroughly recommended.

We ate here on a Saturday lunchtime. The welcome was friendly, the service great and the food was fresh, tasty and enjoyed by all the family. The crab risotto was delicious, washed down with a lovely jug of Pimms!

Stopped and watched a lunch time film here at midday. Viewing experience is very good with plenty of legroom and comfy seats.Had lunch afterwards in their spacious cafe area. Menu is fairly straightforward although the food does have a touch of class. Pork belly tacos were a very nice light bite as were the freshly prepared cakes. Price is also reasonable for food although drinks are at the slightly higher end but are probably what's expected for this type of venue. Hi Paul, thank you for taking the time to review! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your experience in the cinema and restaurant, and are looking forward to your next visit. Kind regards, Newlyn Filmhouse.

Polish restaurant and cafe. Lunches and evening dinners. Homemade traditional Polish cuisine. Delicious homemade desserts.
Me and my partner came here to celebrate our anniversary on August 22nd; we have been semi-regular customers to this restaurant and they fail to ever let us down! We had the goulash for a starter, where everything was flavourful and the pork was succulent and cooked to perfection! This was also a lovely portion size which came with some nice bread on the side. For our main, we had the pierogi as we are both big fans of this dish (I discovered it in Poland and these guys get it spot on!). The pierogi was once again, amazing and I felt that the side salad was a great compliment. Finally, we both had a slice of the roulade each; this is my first time trying cake here and Iâll be sure to try again. The roulade wasnât entirely to my taste (Iâve never tried it before today) but it was still good! The luxury hot chocolate was also great, but maybe a bit too hot. This is a very minor detail though.Overall, we had great customer service from an attentive and friendly waitress, as well as a relaxed atmosphere and top quality food. Thank you for finishing off our special day so perfectly!

Online Bookings only, no walk-ins. Bookings close at 1pm for the current day. Set menu (fish/seafood) only, no a la carte. Booking is essential as we buy fresh produce daily and refuse walk-ins due to stock levels. A small family run seafood restaurant. R
Exquisite seafood-focused tasting menu with interesting Japanese influences, but not being gimmicky or fusion-y. It's more than just a "one-man" show now as the chef has staff to handle the front of the house, but Bruce also likes to chat with diners after their meal, which is awesome experience. He's a charming, enthusiastic host, and his energy manifests in all of his dishes.

Called on spec, not visited for a year or two. We were not disappointed. We had grandchildren aged 5 and 1 with us and the children's menu.was excellent. We had Jake and braised lamb, both perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Their attitude and personality were amazing and a lovely young team they were. The desserts were superb too.
