This year we were pressed for time when we passed the San Leonardo Restaurant 'Sandwirt', but had the pleasure of eating here five years ago. We had a lunch which was regional in flavour, presented by smiling staff. We chose to sit on the terrace in front of the house in which the regional hero Andreas Hofer, the 'Sandwirt' (innkeeper) was born in 1767. He became a freedom fighter against Napoleon, for his home land South Tyrol, then part of Austria. Inside the house and the adjoining museum his memory is kept alive by many exhibits dating to his time. The dishes we had chosen were like home cooking unmistakably also indebted to Austrian cuisine and very tasty. I loved my choice of 'Pflaumenknödel' a kind of cooked dessert-like main dish, dumplings filled with plums. If you like regional and Austrian as well as Italian food, in casual setting at an historical place, visit the 'Sandwirt' restaurant in San Leonardo, a bilingual place in the north of Italy

Wonderful lunch in the sun just above the Hohe Mut mid-station.Huge variety of food (both traditional or otherwise - the ribs were great!) and drinks at reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and efficient. A great place to relax and spend an afternoon out in the sun if warm, or tucked up inside at a cosy booth when the snow sets in. Thoroughly recommended.

Auf dem Weg zum Eisjöchl kann man sich hier gut stärken und etwas verweilen. Die Aussicht auf die Berge ist schön, das Essen sowie die Preise waren in Ordnung.

Have been having lunch and dinners in the Brauhaus. Enjoyed very much the Maerzen fresh beer from their own micro brewery. Recommend their jumbo sized and thin pizzas. Tonight I tried their freshly prepared chestnut pasta with walnut sauce - what a great taste - very recommendable for gourmets that like to try out new food creations.

The Top Mountain Star in the Oetztal Valley is a high point in every sense of the word.
A restaurant overlooking the top of the mountain. They have excellent soups at reasonable prices and there is warmth.

We have been going to the Pizzeria Bruckenwirt 2-3 times every summer since 1995 during our holidays to South Tyrol.Since then the seating and fittings have improved (the inside was all redone in 2003 in comfy wooden style) but since the very beginning the food has always been great, the service lightning-fast, and portions very generous (don't even dream of finishing one of the spaghetti dishes on your own).Apart from the great selection of Pizzas (see the link to their website), there are many pasta dishes as well as northern Italian dishes such as Tagliata with wickedly garlicky bread. To top it all off, the homemade Tiramisu is out of this world (nice and thick and not too sweet). The Pizzeria also brews its own beer (one of the fermentation stills is inside the dining hall). The view from inside and from the terrace is nice and dogs are welcome. It's "only" a pizzeria, thus the 4* and not 5*, but it is one of the best, if not the best pizzeria I have ever been to, consistently for the last 16 years.

An improvised hike brought us to the village of San Marino, where we had a delightful lunch at Gasthaus Lamm. Not the ordinary off the shelf standard Südtirol dishes, but a surprising alternate approach to the local cuisine. With alternatives for vegetarians as well. Varied wine selection of good quality as well. In a nutshell: excellent restaurant!
