We had driven into Pontarlier and chosen the restaurant by chance. Restaurant was nicely located by the river. Beautiful little house restaurant run by a middle age couple. The food choices were on the blackboard outside the restaurant (we didn't know that). Food was great. The appetizers were delicious and remarkably made and very presentable. Our main course was a quiche. We enjoyed it tremendously - tasty and just the right amount. Coffee was good and well presented as well. The owners do not speak any English so communicating with them was a slight challenge with my limited french.

My son and I stopped here on our trip from Interlacken, Switzerland to Beaune, France. We stopped around 3:30pm, clearly an off hour, but the owner Theo Loisel, came out to our table and said "The kitchen is closed, but I can cook you a 'fish' dish with some vegetables". We both forget what fish it was. We enjoyed a split of wine and one of the most enjoyable meals we had in France! Thank you!

I had booked a place for my family for motherâs day. When we arrived we were almost immediately seated and had, despite the short-term reservation, a fairly nice place. The service was very pleasant and also the food is definitely worth going there. The wonderful thing of this restaurant is that it can be used as a starting or ending point for a visit of the nearby stalactite caves of Grotte de Vallorbe. After having taken our order the waiter served us a nice small appetiser to our aperitif. Two of us had ordered the classic Tartare which is actually prepared manually and prior to be served the waiter serves you a small sample to see if the tartar is as you would like it. One person had the Croute Morille, a Swiss dish served in a ceramic pan which is baked bread with several ingredients over it (a little bit like a heavy hot breakfast), and in this case served with morels â excellent, for sure. The dessert we had, a moelleux au chocolat, is a warm, inside still liquid, chocolate cake â was of excellent taste as well. Definitely worth a visit, and donât forget to do the stalactite caves.

To tripadvisor: your search engine didnt recognize the city name (les hopitaux neufs) so I put it under metabief. On the tripadvisor map we can see the restaurant, however. Bug in the system. Look into it.Also on the form for the new review I didnt find the choice to add photos. ----This is a great family restaurant with welcoming staff, simple menu and nice decor. We have been here now twice when visiting Metabief ski resort. The decor is wooden and gives a warm "chalet" feel. The other customers were both time old locals. This restaurant is very calm and welcoming compared to Metabief tourist traps. The menu is short and only has local products and recipes. We usually take a heavy cheese and potato mix. Great taste and good value. The staff is very helpful and kind, and service quick enough. There is good place and we were here with our daughter (toddler).

Stopped here enroute to Switzerland and so glad we did. Welcomed inside and lunch just about to start service we were offered a seat and a coffee whilst we waited. The restaurant is clean with lovely tablecloths. Old fashioned yes but classy. Theervice was faultless and the food tremendous quality. Salmon fabulous and lamb just perfect. We will definitely make it a plan to stop next trip

Simple fish restaurant on the Saint Point lakeside with a terrace offering beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. When we were there in February the lake was completely frozen which was stunning. A relaxed and laidback atmosphere. Food is quite good in the traditional local style. Friendly service. Not very fancy but overall an enjoyable experience.

We were staying at the neighbouring hotel and their restaurant was fully booked, so the receptionist kindly booked us in at the cheese restaurant next door. We weren't sure what to expect and were really pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The restaurant is very pleasing to look at with loads of carved wood, even on the ornate ceiling. The waiter was so kind and helpful. We had never had fondue before and were delighted by it-so tasty and soooo packed with cheese. I was too full for a dessert but him indoors managed to have one! The wine was excellent and the ambience of the place was terrific.

I often go to Le Lac restaurant in Malbuisson, the eponymous restaurant of the family run eponymous Hotel Le Lac. They have different Menus, very priceworthy, and an excellent wine selection. The point, as said in other review, is the inconsistency of service. Eventhough, I always return, because of the cuisine. You really have to concentrate on food and wine. If sou're lucky enough, you'll get as much cheese as you want from the "chariot de fromage", if it's not your lucky day, the waiter will advise you that choice is limited.Same for the dessert. On a unlucky day, selection is limited to a choice of three dessert, but yesterday, the young waiter let us choose as much as we wanted! What is wonderful with the dessert, is that they all are homemade. Tarts, mousse, try the most excellent Baba au rhum, with aditional rhum topped as they serve it! We got the explanation that one of the family brother's was a dessert expert, as the other brother was more into Menus. There was a group staying at the hotel overnight, and one of the waitress had an accordion and played Musette songs in the lounge after dinner. We joined the group and danced with them, what a lovely evening! So, let the service gain on consistency, and I'll give tis restaurant a five next time! From the restaurant, ther is no view over the lake. But you're not here for the lakeview, are you?

Faultless cooking from this Michelin starred restaurant. We chose the 36 Euro menu and it was the best meal I had on my 3 week trip, many costing far more. The trout was so perfectly cooked, moist and tender. The menu was all based around regional cuisine and the quality was very high. Don't miss the vin de paille dessert wine.
