We went for lunch on a Saturday and had the 30euros set lunch. It's so good you feel you're cheating the restaurant. It's amazing value and wonderful quality. We started with some amuse bouche. Then came there take on vichysoisse. Hard to describe. You can only make ummh noises. One of use had local mushrooms and chestnut soup which was the highlight of the whole meal. Then limousine beef (possibly the blade cut) with a brilliant unctuous reduction and a tiny pastie stuffed with minced meat and a bowl of vegetables I guess cooked in stock and finished with butter and herbs. Heavenly. Then a lime sorbet for predessert! Then a take on New Orleans beignet with Chantilly cream and sorbet. Then a post dessert mini tirimasu, and a lime iced/sorbet.Great wine by the glass. So get on the plane. Fly to limoges and have lunch. Live life.

The Cheverny is a place where you can relax and get away by being guided. It combines traditional cuisine and innovation with a refined and warm. Always in search of new flavors to surprise and, above all, the watchword of the house "to make you happy."
We went here for our anniversary in arrival everything was lovely, polite staff, lovely setting, we ordered aperitifs which came with the amuse bouche, normally expect some nibbles then the amuse, we placed are order, the starters came out and were lovely, but no wine had been poured or tasted at this point, strangely. We had to ask for our wine, we then noticed husbands wine glass was covered in lipstick marks, which we asked to ge changed. After the starters mains came, which were nice. Then came the cheese course, which was difficult as the cheese trolley couldn't get to the table due to how the tables were laid out, so ended up with not viewing just quickly saying a goats, blue and brebis. The deserts dame, not impressed, mine has a rice crispie base test had gone soggy, and husbands care gourmand ok, but not upto gastronomic standards. The owner went round asking how the meal was but ignored the only English table. And when paying didn't ask how the meals was just handed bill, took money and didn't say good evening.

On a day trip to Limoges, stopped at this restaurant because it looked nice from the outside. The inside was full so we decided to brave the elements (and potential smokers) and sit outside. The service was excellent. Our drinks were with us instantly and our waiter translated some of the trickier items into English for us. Since it was a Friday there was an abundance of fish on the menu which was great as we don't eat meat. The food was delicious. Well recommended!!

Make sure you sit at the right table so you can see the menu written on the blackboard. Otherwise take a photo and try to decipher the various menu options. The food is pretty basic, all the starters came straight out of the fridge. The terrine was delicious and the salads pretty solid.Mains were good, especially the onglet steak.Dessert was again solid. So all in all a good choice for a quick lunch as service is super efficient.

A chance finding which greatly pleased. A fine dining room and lovely attentive service.A good wine list not too expensive [well not compared to some places!].tThe cheapest menu of 23⬠was our choice and it was indeed good. The main course was a nice merlu. I doubt you could do better!

I booked this restaurant, based on trip advisor reviews, for a birthday meal. I imagine booking is essential too as it got very busy over the course of the evening. We arrived over half an hour early but this was not a problem. The waitress was very pleasant and indulged my desire to speak poor french. We had one starter; beef carpaccio, which was melt in the mouth, three mains, and two desserts. three glasses of wine, which were really nice, an orange juice, a local beer and a bottle of San Pellegrino and the whole lot came to 112 euros. Bargain!! I didn't have a dessert because I was so full after a starter and a dessert but the waitress still brought me a little cannelle with a candle in it and sang happy birthday, a nice touch especially when they were so busy. The front of the shop is a butchers which is a bit weird but the whole thing works very well. I imagine the shop is as busy as the restaurant. I will definitely be coming here again.

The magnificence of a former XIIth Century Convent In that historic place, discover or rediscover the simple though highly famous grilled Limousin beef cooked in the indoor fireplace, some traditionnal pots bubbling on the stove or homemade Limousin cherr
There are some real positives. The building is extremely attractive and the meat is without doubt great quality and at a fair price. My stake was cooked well and as ordered although served with no garnish to make it look attractive on the plate. However, the welcome by front of house was bordering on frosty, It would have been good to have received an explanation of items on the menu but the waiter seemed disinterested when asked There seemed to be an absence of front of house management which meant things could and did go wrong during service. Maybe working on a Sunday makes one miserable but the guests should not suffer. I also detected a surliness between some chefs and waiters as they disagreed in public or shoulted from one dining room to the other. What a shame all of the open kitchen activity isnt in one room.. The open chimney is in a separate room and the vegetables prepared and served from the other. it wasn't smooth service ensuring meat and vegetables arrived together. Our table was surprisingly ample. One place looked into the room but placed close to an untidy service counter my own view was of a printer its wires and untidy piles of papers and other restaurant supplies. Unfortunately the real turnoff for me was on the way to the cloakroom to see the proximity of a huge pile of used plates with leftover food piled on the end of the vegetable/starters/pud service counter. BIts of raw chicken in a plastic bag and other detritus were left visible in a sink used by the chefs to rince cooking utensils. Frankly if I had not have eaten I would not have ordered. So I was conflicted with the rating. I would have given 5* for the quality of the meat and sheer style of the building but the 3* reflects the chilly reception and somewhat chaotic management of our order.

Back again to this divine little bistro. Today the menu midi offered a crunchy parcel of goats cheese in filo, pork tenderloin in an exquisite light jeu followed by tarte tatin with salted caramel butter sauce.......I love this place. The welcome is always warm, cheerful and prompt. The talented chef is also busy around the tables greeting regulars and newcomers alike. I have eaten here many times and the menu changes every time taking the best local produce and producing a masterpiece. The talented chef has a light touch and the food looks as good as it tastes. Book at least one day in advance to be sure of a table. Snuggled behind the Market Hall at Place Carnot, you could pass by and miss it. Once found though you will be wondering why you did not try it before !

I had dinner with my family and was pleasantly surprised with the creativity and flavor of each dish. The swordfish was particularly delicious. Very good service too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

The Sherrif's Lady and I picked this out from Tripadvisor reviews while on a weekend visit to Limoges. It is in the opposite direction to all the obvious tourist spots and in a rather unpromising part of town. Nevertheless it is still only about 10 minutes walk from the Place de la Republique. The food and wine were truly excellent and the service was outstandingly friendly. As other reviewers have commented, there isn't much English spoken and this is really a neighbourhood brasserie. However, the staff are so keen to welcome guests that communication is not a big problem as long as you can manage some fairly basic menu French. It is a small place and got quite full on a midweek night when we were there so it is probably worth phoning to book ahead.
