Situated in the centre of town this bar restaurant is easy to find. Sitting outside in the sun with people passing by and the sound of a fountain in the background where could you be but France. Portions are plentiful and tasty and the prices are very reasonableas well as being clearly posted. Well worth a visit.

Never usually post reviews but pudding and welcome was exceptional. We arrived at 8.30 pm with three children under 10 including baby, 22 m. Welcomed, baby and children no trouble and food was really very good especially for the price. Have eaten in very finest of places in UK, IT, Paris, ES, US, JP and AU but the mille feuille fraise really was one of the best desserts I have had - pastry was paper thin and light but with enough structure to hold the dish together, deep rich strawberry, and no usual cloying cream going on. The cote de boeuf with marrow was also proper old school, no-nonsense high quality ingredients prepared perfectly and the boss loved the brochette de boeuf minervois. Lids loved theirs too especioally the mini roast taters instead of formula frites. The cassoulet looked pretty good too. Shame we found only on our last night here.

Everything is fresh and nothing is frozen. The ambiance is friendly and relaxed. The service is fast and accommodating. There is a terrace in the summer. Chez modeste is just a walk from the canal de midi.
A short stroll from the Canal du Midi along a picturesque country road fringed with vineyards. We could choose to sit outdoors in a spacious courtyard or inside the invitint fresh white restaurant, light, cheerful, comfortable, modern. Such a contrast to the very old village where it is situated. Service was smiling and helpful, the menu of the day great value offering two choice of three courses. We each ordered alternate dishes and shared each course. A great way to savour regional dishes. We were not disappointed. Each dish was superb. Our waitress helped us to choose a local wine to match the food. Perfect too. We left with a small take home pack of tarte tartin which was delicious but such a generous slice that we could enjoy it the next day. Some extra wine too. It was a memorable evening. LOvely outdoor area ayrds. Many thanks for your kind words. We are so pleased you all had a good time and enjoyed the food.I made the tarte tatin that morning so Iâm really glad you enjoyed that!We hope you can come back again one day.Regards Paula, Chez Modeste

We had our evening meal here, being fortunate to get a table for two on a walk-in basis. The retaurant is in a very pleasant, secluded and peaceful location on the bank on the canal du midi. The drawback of this location is the risk of biting insects, so my advice would be to cover your arms and legs. There are a limited number of menu options, but what options there are are creative, thoughtful and beautifully presented. Not cheap, but not over-priced either, considering the quality. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu options and very polite.Atmosphere and ambience is excellent.

Seemingly the only restaurant in town (apart from a bar that closes early) offering a sit down meal in the evenings, though they also offer a take away service. It's small and popular with locals, so booking is essential. We ate here twice in the 4 days we were in town. Pizzas are realistically priced and are huge, with a range of toppings divided into veggie, seafood, meat / chicken and various combinations of cheese. Really good value, and the wine is reasonable. The restaurant also has aircon.

Restaurant was recommended to us, so we were looking forward to eating there.Quite big but would book in high season as it's the only one in Trausse.Food was fresh with plenty of choices. Two menu choices (3 courses) one 20â¬, the other 32â¬.Food was good but very salty - bit of a pity as one of our party couldn't eat theirs as a result.

An amazingly friendly place. Although the opening times are are shown be prepared for a slight delay sometimes. Prices are clearly marked outside the restaurant for meals taken inside while take-away prices are cheaper. All in all a very good place for pizzas.

The owner opened up especially for a lunch group we attend on occasion and we all enjoyed ourselves greatly. Villeneuve is another cute Minervois village and this is a popular spot amongst friends although this was the first time we had been. On a hot day, being outside was a bonus, sheltered by large umbrellas.A bonus for those with little or no French is that the owner speaks English. Beyond this, the food is good and a cross between rustic/country and elegant. We also had excellent bottled local wine - red and white - which kept coming. Parking may be challenging in the immediate vicinity of the restaurant although there are spaces off the narrow street. However, there is a large parking area coming into the village from the direction of Caunes-Minervois and public toilets and the restaurant is barely a five minute walk away. All up, well worth trying!
