this isnot a standard "Landgasthof" as you might still find in next to busy streets - it's in a small village just outside the city borders of Wangen. The short drive is worth to do!10 years ago the cook's family bought the former simple eatery for local farmers and converted it to renewed glory. The 2 guestrooms have a wonderful atmosphere, the terrace offers quiet sittings in summer. The proof of good cuisine are several awards presented in the lobby and front door - menu prices are steep (starters above 13â¬, mains 22-35⬠etc.) and I had high expectations making a reservation for a business lunch.Cuisine is modern paired with some Asian and experimental touches but mainly with local fresh ingredients (except the shirmp)- my seafood salad were some king prawns and shrimp mixed with shreddered cocumber etc. - I expected some more mediteranian touch. The fish with spinach and potatoes was a bit micro-food and tasteless. Other's of our group were happy even not excited about their choices. The big surprise was at check-out: they don't accept creditcards - when I said "that's a pitty" the lady waiter reacted in a very rude way: she told me that it isn't needed - all their guests are happy with cash or German debitcards. When I replied that this belongs 2013 to service standard and their steep prices would definetly allow to accept in some cases (e.g. business lunch, forgeigners) she asked her husband to be involved. He told me they cannot afford the 3,5% fees - they cannot add the 3,5% to the prices as then everybody needs to pay and they'd loose customers...WTH? This is Germany real countryside, they haven't yet arrived in global world - and service culture in Germany means that "customer is guilty"....

Family owned hotel and restaurant. They make and serve themselves. Food is excellent and people are very friendly. Has a nice local atmosphere. The location is in the middle of the a very well kept medieval town of Wangen im Allgaeu with a lot of house paintings.Parking at the hotel is very limited but there are parking lots in short walking distance.

In Wangen, there is a lot of cuteness on offer. There are even some bright modern places that serve global dishes that are pre-prepared or re-heated. Then there is this place, which is a little less twee and a little less modern than the competition, but which offers food that IS SERIOUS. So if you want to actually eat something that is actually prepared by an actual chef, this place is (as far as i can surmise) your only option. He has specialized in cooking game and he does an excellent job for a very fair price. I can say that the Venison Maultaschen were the best of these German little stuffed pastries that I have had with any filling. The secret was that the ingredients were mixed enough to create a delicately seasoned whole and delivered as a roulade as opposed to a simple ravioli. The venison steak was similarly excellent. - pink tender and perfect. Looking at the dishes of other diners, I knew that this chef (who appears to be the proprietor) knew his way around the kitchen. The beer (local) was very good, the wine list a little sparse , but I would surely go again.

Der Weg ins Lamm sich immer lohnt, auch wenn man ganz wo anderst wohnt. Schmeck den Süden Baden Württemberg Gastronom mit zwei Löwen.Frische regionale Produkte immer dann wenn Saison dafür ist.
This seems to be more of a local place where groups might meet up or local card games played out. The atmosphere is simple, but very clean and tidy and welcoming. The waitresses have traditional tops on and are authentically perky. The chef makes a very good impression is a real foodie. The menu offers traditional German food, has vegetarian selections and even will offer vegan options open request. The restuarant is just off the main strip, but the prices are an excellent value for what you are receiving for your palate. Many people choose places to people watch or to be seen in the in seen. This is more of a secret gem tucked in between stores and should not be overlooked...even though it is easy to overlook.
We were set to eat at the Bio alder restaurant in Vogt but the menu was all in German and very pricey. We stumble over that family run restaurant who gave us a menu in English, explained everything we wanted to know about the food and we had an excellent dinner. Not pricey at all. Everything fresh and tasty. We had a breaded chicken breast with salad and home-made pasta and veal which has been cooked with pepper in the oven. Both dishes were served with different creamy sauces on the side. Meat was Very tender. Beer was good too. If you just want to have a nice hearty meal right for your pocket, skip the fancy bio restaurant and go straight to this place.

I was just ordering a "Schweizer Wurstsalat" - "Swiss Sausage Salad", which is a speciality in southern Germany, Swiss and Austria. I had a perfect dark beer with it - and I was so happy with this experience. Love to come more often!

We did have a reasonably good meal here which we enjoyed. Worth while to consider when in the area, even though the general atmosphere of the restaurant is not quite replicated in the excitement of the food
