Combination of German cousine, Danish open faced sandwiches and almost-Inn-type-food made poorly. It is fine but lacks finesse and taste. We had the schnitzel which did not taste of anything. The cook must have forgotten to use the salt. The waitress was the best waitress we have ever experienced and the sole carrier of one of the stars
Unique location on the sea-side. - in summer time you can enjoy our cafe food, ice beer and drinks outside and the beautiful view. - in winter our indoor restaurant - The Boathouse - opens, here we serve traditional classic Danish food, based on old recip
Went there with a friend. Ordered a tea, fish sandwhich, two glass of tap water. We asked how much the tea was and was told 25 kr. It wasn't on the price list. We asked for a chai tea then the price jumped to 45 kr. The tap water became 10 kr. and also not on the price list! I told the lady that the prices weren't on the list but she couldn't care less. And paying for tap water without telling in advance was very bad service I told the lady. But the cafe had to pay for the water to the municipality so 10 kr. should be a fair price she said! The fried fish sandwhich costing 60 kr. was of mediocre quality and small. All in all a very bad experience and very unfriendly service.

We were here for a private party of 40 people and had an amazingly prepared 3-course meal. Started with a plate of mixed antipasti, tasty, fresh, beautifully prepared. Then beef fillet with a slightly truffle-tasting sauce, crispy and fresh veggies, and lively mashed potatoes. The meat was tender and perfect. Tiramisu for dessert. This is a cosy place, where locals eat but also pick up a pizza to go. Try it!

Sincerely I expected delicious food with good portions. The restaurant pretends to be fine cuisine, but in fact I was disappointed, small portions, moderate taste. In the same time the service was perfect. The waiter was professional and nice.

Homemade Italian food with delicacies from Parma and Emilia Romagna. Famous for Parmigiano Reggiano (the one and only Parmesan cheese) and Prosciutto di Parma (Parma ham). Parma is now ambassador of the Food Valley worldwide: the city has been declared th
I can't really compare with other Italian restaurants as my experience is quite limited, but based on my one visit so far I was very happy with the pasta dish I ordered. The dishes are made as per original recipe, e.g. the bolognese is not made with tomato as we are used to here, however this is how it has been done for centuries in Bologna. The pasta is fresh and the portions are generous. I came mid-afternoon at the weekend, where the place was packed and was worried that I would have to spend hours to get served. That was not the case, although it looked a bit messy behind the bar the staff were efficient and friendly, and I heard many customers thanking the chefs for their excellent food. Will definitely be coming back.

We decided on a dinner menu that sounded good: Chicken wrapped in ham, pan fried potatoes, fresh vegetables of many kinds. So far, so good. The meal arrived quickly enough, everything looked fine. But but, good things do not last at Cafe Alex. The potatoes had clearly been reheated, the chicken was bone dry. So was the ham. The only part of the dinner which lived up to standard turned out to be the vegetables, crisp, fresh, perfect. We left in an irritable mood. We paid as much as you would in any other restaurant in the medium price range but got a bad meal for the money paid.We have tried this place a couple of times before. The restaurant is good looking, service is OK and it is quite popular with many guests. But it is basically a burger place and this they can do. Do not go there for anything else.

This is basically an Itlalan/pizza restaurant. The basic pizza (only one size offered} is too big for one person but too small for two !! The other meals are good portion sizes and can be recommended.`the place is very popular particularly on weekend evening and you must book for, if you take pot luck, you will either be politely turned away or gave a long, long wait.

My friend suggested this restaurant as being the best in the local area and within walking distance of her house.Apparently this used to be the canteen of the former factory, and some of the art deco style is still evident, although the tiles on floors and walls mean it can be a bit noisy. They did have an English menu for my benefit, but the waitress (and my friend, of course) had excellent English. The menu, however, is very Scandinavian, with the emphasis of fresh, top quality local produce prepared simply. I started with beautifully cooked scallops, just seared, presented on a bed of pea puree, with tomato, a parmesan tuille and a watercress garnish. Not just very tasty but also pretty to look at. My friend's main course was fried plaice served with in a light sauce with new potatoes, and she enjoyed it very much. I chose from the day's specials: very tender filet of veal, the flavour was wonderful, probably organic, in a very nice light chanterelle sauce. Again, in the Danish way, served with new potatoes, and there was also some celeriac. We both finished with a lime mousse, nice, although personally I would have preferred a slightly sharper, more zesty flavour - the mousse was served with some fresh berries on the side. All in all, very good Danish cooking - wholesome, flavoursome but restrained. We tried both a white and a red wine from their moderate selection of house wines, and both were pretty good and excellent value for money.Service from our waitress was exemplary, relaxed and friendly, but always professional which is not always the case in Denmark (especially in Copenhagen). Prices were more than acceptable, our bill was DKR1025 before tip (but my friend did not eat a starter). I would certainly go back the next time I visit my friend.

We went there on a cool summer day in the evening to celebrate a family occasion. Had it not been so cool, we probably would have chosen to sit outside. The restaurant is situated next to a beautiful and large lake and there is outdoor seating among old trees on the shore of the lake. The outdoor furniture is rustic but of top quality and comfortable too. However, it was too cool to sit outside, so we went inside where you still have an amazing view of the lake through the big windows in the building. We were 9 grown-ups and two small kids. We had a full dinner with starters, main course and desert accompanied by white as well as red wine. It would have been nice, had there been a play corner for small kids, but there is not. The lack of a play corner did not bother us unduly - the two kids in our group were too tired to play anyway. There are special menus for kids.We had reserved the table beforehand. We knew this was necessary. It is a very popular restaurant and sure enough - even on a Monday night it was full.We had not decided what we were going to have so each guest ordered separately. That makes life more difficult for the waiters, but our two waiters managed without a single mistake. Kind and attentive they were as well. The meal was very well prepared and everybody was happy, those who had meat as well as those who had fish.A special word about the wine card: For a restaurant in the mid price range it has an amazing and very full wine card with many high quality wines. Of course the latter are expensive, but even the wines in the mid range are good. However, do not expect any wines that are really cheap here. They do not carry those. We left happy and contented feeling that the visit was worth every cent we paid.
