Things to do in Drobeta-Turnu Severin
Every time I am passing through Drobeta Turnu Severin, Romania, I stop for lunch at Restaurant Vaporul Mehedinti, located on river Danube. If you like fresh fish that is the place. Enjoy it!Thank you for the review. We are looking forward to seeing you in the future!
Location is very good, just in the heart of the city. Staff is friendly and helpful although they forgot about one of the meals we ordered. Tortiglioni arabiata good, but a bit too mild for a real arabiata. Risotto pollo also ok, with rice well prepared. Pizzza diavola very good. Prices as for Romania not cheap but OK.
The restaurant is on a proper boat on the Danube wich makes the view amazing. The design of the place is indeed original and sets a nice atmosphere, eventhough it's not very clean. The food is average at most- we ordered fried Salau file with scotish potatoes and garlic dressing and Ciuleandra with cabbage salad. The fish was deep fried (not mentioned by the server) and the potatoes were a bit boiled and also deep fried. Both lacked any kind of seasoning. The garlic dressing was very nice. The Ciuleandra was a kind of porc snitzel with some overfried pieces of chicken on top and some melted cheese - nothing impressive. We waited for some time for the order to be taken and the polenta was missing from the table eventhough we ordered it.The service was basic and the check was told to us by the server - the amount being incorrect at first.Overall - the view was amazing - the food not so much- maybe other dishes ar better.
Brutaria Mariuca is a great bakery and coffee shop. I ate and Mariuca cheese cake with an excellent cup of coffee. Delicious. I highly recommend Brutaria Mariuca. The service was great and the people that work there were very nice. They earned their five star rating.
We had breakfast on the pavement here for a couple of mornings, and when the staff remembered that we were there, it was a pleasant place to watch the town come to life, with views of the walnut trees in the little park opposite. Got to know the local street cats. Excellent coffee; food was variable but in generous portions. A "Croque Monsieur" comprised a pancake-stack like of circular pieces of toast, interwoven with ham and completely coated with sticky orange melted cheese. It filled you up, anyway.
Wiener Haus is the key destination for high class culinary delicacies served in a very familiar environment.
You wouldn't expect to find such a beautiful place in this small town in Romania . Wonderful food, service, staff and ambient. They even have a chimney in the middle of the salon, which made it more cozy and welcoming. You feel like you stepped in a 19th century movie. And all this at a very good price.

We generally go to this chain in Romania mainly the one in Bucharest. But as we were in the area we decided to go there as the food is usually very good. The view from this location is very nice as it overlooks the Danube river and we had a beautiful sunset however the service was really disappointing, it took over 20min for someone to get a menu, the lady who showed us to our table was miserable. The food was good as usual but we waited nearly 50 min for our food and even the starters all came with the food which was disappointing. So still great food very let down by the service.

Had dinner in this restaurant having italian name but not seen any italian person among the staff.Menu based mainly on italian dishes.Likely they had also some rumenian wine to taste and I have to say the cabernet sauvignon was great.Had a cold starter, that was big enaugh for all the meal, accompanied by pizza bread. Then mix grilled meat with potatoes.Enjoyed the dinner...
