Hotel Strandhalle is a lovely hotel with a top- notch restaurant. I would say the restaurant is the hotel's best feature. It has wonderful food and a lovely view over the water. And the rooms were comfortable enough. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of elevator. I traveled with family members, and we are all in our 60's. We are traveling for a few weeks, so we had one large suit case and one small suitcase each, as well as a couple little articles (camera cases, etc.). Our rooms were on the third floor. With no elevator, and absolutely no one to help with the luggage, it was a struggle to get everything upstairs. Since the hotel is new, not built into an old building as so many are, I can't see any reason why there couldn't be an elevator. And there are steps everywhere on the ground floor. That was no problem for us, but for the elderly or wheelchair-bound, this hotel is impossible. I also found it a bit pricey. And there was one misunderstanding on my part. Perhaps I did not read or understand the hotel's website, but I reserved a garage for 9 euros a night because I thought that was the only way to obtain parking at the hotel. But the hotel has a free parking lot, the fee was for an actual garage, which we didn't need. The staff was courteous but "distant" - this was not a place to get a lot of personal attention.

fantastic Restaurant with a view over the Northsea
We took the long, windswept walk up through the rolling dunes to the Seekrug to see what all the rave reviews were about, and we weren't disappointed. Up a flight of stairs (bit of an accessibility issue but we along with several others left our stroller downstairs, confident that it would still be there upon our return...) is an expansive, tastefully decorated dining room with an absolutely glorious view of the beach far below. Anticipating this, we had called ahead and secured a table at the window. Service was attentive and professional and at least one server broke out his English for me which was very kind. All the food here seamed to be locally sourced right down to the Tide beer (which was delicious). The meal was attractively presented and very satisfying. I would describe the food offerings as upscale, country fare. We would have stayed for what looked like some very tempting desserts, but the place was filling up fast and our child was done with sitting silently. Maybe next time! Once again, I cannot over emphasize the beauty of this view. Definitely reserve WAY ahead and ask for a window seat and enjoy the sunset with a glass off the expertly chosen wine-list. Cheers!

We went there twice, once for coffee and cake and another time for dinner. Food was excellent on both occassions and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is also very nice. Servings are huge. The young lady who served us on both occassions was obviously lacking training. Both times she forgot orders and misunderstood things. When we pointed it out to her, she reacted in a kind of snippy way. However, dining was pleasant and we would go there again. Their cakes are particularly good, really worth a coffee stop.

Really cozy inside, the outdoor part is, well outdoors and on the most busy pedestrian zone of the island. Nice service albeit somewhat fresh at times and they often really have a lot to do!All the afternoon stuff is just great (cakes and pastries, but also very good soups). The main dishes at night are indeed sometimes not quite what you wanted, and I've also had half-done potatoes once. Usually the various dishes were quite tasty though.

Here you enjoy friendly staff as well as your table neighbors. With my wife together, we each tasted a different fish for supper. The decorations of the restaurant give you the feeling of âin the old daysâ. Definitely a place to go and eat again.Thank you for your stay in our restaurant and we are happy that you enjoy the athmosphäre and our food & drinks.Hope to see you.
