Find out what European restaurants to try in Donegal Town. Donegal Town is a fairytale of a place, featuring a charming harbor, serene beaches and stoic stone remains of centuries past, like those of 15th-century Donegal Abbey. Stern-looking Donegal Castle, recently restored to its one-time Gaelic glory, is the crown jewel of the area. If you’re looking for souvenirs, snag a hand-woven tweed or carpet, the signature goods of the area. For a good craic, the pubs of The Diamond area are a sure bet.

Right across the street from Donegal Castle. So after hiking the stairs in the castle we were hungry and thirsty. It was around 2:30 pm, but they were still crowded. Waitress was a bit gruff (maybe she was having a bad day), but food and drink came quickly and was very good. I liked the fish and chips, and the drinks were cold. It is a charming place, the decor is interesting. Good spot for lunch

Italian Restaurant
This place can get very busy, but we are always lucky enough to get a table with a short wà it. Vegetarian Pizzas are yummy and good sparkling wine. Service is friendly, but they are always rushed of their feet. Recommended.

Took the Mrs and Parents for a meal here over Christmas. After 5 weeks at home and eating out most nights, this was easily one if not the best meal of the trip.Between us all we had, hake, salmon, chowder, goat cheese salad.etc Salmon tasted amazing, very wild tasting.Even the hake was excellent which Iâve never had much luck with in the past, always a bland tasting fish.Looking forward to the summer visit now, so can sit outside n enjoy the surroundings.Pretty good Guinness too.Certain non Irish members of staff could use a little Donegal friendliness

cafe / bistro on the edge of Donegal Town, located 500m from the Diamond on the killybegs road R925. Set in a beautiful house from the 1800's,that has been tastefully renovated, serving delicious home cooked food and baked goods daily.
Lovely eatery anytime of day. Loads of space now as I hadn't been in since the renovation. Lovely kids breakfast menu. Plenty of choice. The food was top quality and plentiful. I ordered the small breakfast but got the big one. Didn't bother saying anything as my hubby ate the extras. Coffee was fab. Definitely worth a visit. Staff were extremely helpful and this place is a gem. Bacon could be a little crisper but this is personal preference. Overall excellent experience

Top quality food offering in a warm cosy, relaxed pub environment.
I was here for Easter 2019 and I would not suggest this place to anyone. We were served 30mins after we arrived (it was quite for breakfast), the all day menu was not all day, the staff were not nice at all. We received the complete wrong order which took almost an hour to come. When I said it was incorrect the waitress actually argued with me and said it would take just as long to get out what we originally wanted. No apology nothing. Then when it came it was cold, and probably the most awful thing I have eaten in a long time. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Stay away. You'll find more authentic Irish cuisine in other places in Donegal town.

Situated opposite Donegal Pier and just over 100 metres from the town centre, this award winning, vibrant and contemporary restaurant offers stunning views of Donegal Bay. The emphasis is on championing local produce, the menu features Chargrilled Aubrac
Quay West is one of the best meals that I've had, full stop. There is nothing critical that I can say about the experience. The restaurant is beautiful, clean and well-decorated. The food was delicious with really fresh seafood - make sure to try their unique ice cream sundaes as well! The best part of the experience, though, was the staff. We had the opportunity to chat with one of the co-owners, Jo, who was welcoming, kind and generous and made us feel right at home. Plus, she knows a good bottle of poitin!
