We had breakfast twice here while visiting Cuenca. Friendly waiter, good selection of items, we chose ham, egg on toast and thinly sliced pork and ham on toast - delicious, good sized portions and very reasonably priced. Recommended!

I have never visited Cuenca before, but it is really beautiful. The Parador, which is an old monastery, is surrounded by nature. The restaurant was originally a chapel. It is stunning and relaxing. The food was amazing! We tried some seasonal vegetables and "Morteruelo" (Cuenca's most famous dish), a sort of purée made out of bushmeat, topped with a few pinions. Then we tried the "Ajoarriero" cod. I love "ajoarriero", but this is probably the BEST I have never tried. A must in Cuenca! Excellent service, excellent wine... a bit pricey but definitely it is worth! Totally recommended!

We decided to eat here because of the local dishes that they had on offer and we were not disappointed. Everything we had was freshly prepared deliciously tasty and very satisfying. What really made it though was our table on the terrace overlooking the river with a superb vista of the beautiful old town of cuenca.Lovely staff to, friendly interactive and knowledgeable.

Located in this building S. XVII, in our restaurant we offer big a variety of dishes with one of the most iconic views of the Hoz del Huecar. Among them we can find are a variety of home-made tapas and rations (Croquettes, Mushrooms "Spring Rolls",...) Fo
We arrived in the morning of a busy holiday weekend and asked for a table for lunch that day. We appreciated the owner's effort to accommodate us on the small terrace. The local cuisine dishes were ably executed though some of the flavours need 'acquiring'. The salad was fresh and tasty.Altogether a very pleasant afternoon.

Great fresh food and service with a smile, just down there road from the Plaza Mayor. We had the salad with octopus and shrimp, which was quite generous in serving, and delicious. The meatball stuffed with cheese was excellent too. The two dips (one was a game meat pate, warm) were tasty, but I think the serving for two people was a little too much of the same texture. It would be nice to have the option of a half serving for two people - probably the serving is meant for a whole table to share. Finally, we had the cod, which was well cooked and tasty, but the olive paste plus the well seasoned cod was a little too salty - it probably could use a little less of the olive tapenade on the side. However, overall, with excellent service from both the server and (we thought), the owner, this was probably our best experience dining in Cuenca. Certainly worth a visit, and I would certainly return.

We stopped for a light lunch. Got the house wine which was very good and only cost 1.10 euro a glass. Came with tapas of olives and pickled sardines which were very good. Ordered a lamb burger which was grilled perfectly and excellent. What a surprise. We sat at the bar to eat. May well be coming back for dinner.

We pre-booked so got a window table. The Posada is lovely and the restaurant is full of character. Two of us had three courses, wine and water and the bill was around 50 Euros. Great service too.

The Recreo is a bit swanky and the perfect family Sunday Lunch restaurant, right on the river in a shady spot with plenty of parking. The location is good for anyone wanting to cycle or otherwise take advantage of the great leisure opportunities in Cuenca, before or after their meal, and it's full of well-off Spanish families taking Maman out to lunch. We had a lobster paella that was generous but expensive (of course.) But the staff were particulalry snobby. I'd go back but probably stick to the set menu - and I'd want to arrive in the Mercedes.

We fortunately got the last table. When we mentioned we always pick different dishes and share, they offered to bring them one at a time, which they did without us ever being rushed. The waitress was charming. The kitchen ran like clockwork. Interesting wine selection without being overpriced. And the food was excellent. So much so that we are going to try the Tartar of red tuna and the brisket lasagna at home. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
