A Small Restaurant With A Traditional French Home Cooking, With A Great Wine Selection 400 On The Wine List, And A Selection Of 15 Wines By The Glass On The Blacboard. Eric The Wine Waiter Can Help You To Offer The Best Wine As You Wish With Your Meal.
We were attracted to this restaurant by its impressive choice of wines, many available by the glass. On the Saturday lunchtime that we visited there was only one other English couple in the restaurant, the rest were all locals who appeared to be regular customers. This proved to be a good sign.We both had a chicken dish which was beautifully cooked and presented with an excellent sauce and plenty of vegetables. As expected the wine was excellent. The service was very good it was a very enjoyable lunch time.

In the main street of Sangatte (famous for its previous 'jungle' campsite) we came across this very lovely and welcoming restaurant. I tried the Moules in a cream sauce with tarragon 14,50 euros, my friend the Skate fish at 15,00 euros, both really good. A carafe of wine 500ml was ten euros. Recommended !Next time I'll make space for the incredible Fruits de Mer, it was on the next table and looked awesome!

Au Cote d'Argent restaurant right on the water at Calais faces the seawall with fascinating views of the watery parade of sea ferries churning in and out. The dining room puts you in the mood for excellent seafood, with varnished wood-panelled walls, mari
Not as good as was expected, the place is very cafeteria like with little presence and certainly no finesse the exception being the wife of the chef. Overall the food was good but service average, Interesting wine card. Whilst we travel often to Calais this for us does not merit a revisit.Hello,I am very very surprised by your comment...Very cafeteria ???Do you eat every day at Buckingham palace. But the food was good....I am reassured Kind regards.

It was our last evening in France and we chose to eat our dinner in the Channel Restaurant. The prices were much the same as elsewhere and there was inside and outside seating. We ordered the food, having had to prompt the waiter, and the starter of âfruit de merâ came quite promptly. It was good. The main course, part of the 28⬠menu, was delivered after quite a long wait. The restaurant was getting quite busy and there were only two staff waiting on tables. One group decided to walk out after about ten minutes and we watched them cross the road to another restaurant. The âplatâ was good.We then sat for quite some time before we were offered a dessert menu. This was confusing as the dessert selection had been made with the original order. Apparently, the waiter didnât know that weâd ordered the three course menu.We eventually decided that we had to leave as we needed to pick up our car from a car park and check in for our ferry crossing. It was then that the missing dessert arrived. We declined, explaining that it was too late.On paying the bill, I queried the cost, feeling that a gesture could have been made to ameliorate the situation but was told that it was not their problem. We had been sat at the table for 90 minutes which, if there had been no time restraints, might not have been bad at all. The rudeness of the response to my polite request was upsetting and spoiled our evening, leaving the proverbial âsour tasteâ in our mouths. In the UK I would have remonstrated further but my French is not up to the standard required for subtle debate!Poor customer service and a real wolf in sheepâs clothing: I did wonder if his name might be Uriah Heap!HelloI am sorry for all what happened to you....but in Restaurant Le Channel we don t have outside seating.. and we don t have a 28 euros menu.... Best regardsThe Chef

This must be the tenth/eleventh visit or so to the HA and it hasn't disappointed yet - far from it! The atmosphere is good - cosy in the winter/spring seasons - service attentive and cordial and the food excellent. The menu options offer a fair bit, including value for money too, and the dishes themselves often feature a cullinary twist to an old favourite that is usually very rewarding.Patrick and the team at HA know what they're doing and the results are very good indeed.Dear BillijFreeman,Thank you so much for your visit in our restaurant and thank you for your loyalty, kindly regards Claire COMTE

This modern brew-pub is a good place for large groups for informal dining. The menu is quite extensive with plenty to choose from and it is available in both English or French. They brew their own beers so there is also an interesting and original beer menu. We had a mixed meat platter to start and then I had the BBQ Ribs. Not the best ribs I've ever had (those were in the USA) but certainly tasty and filling. Service was good and prices were reasonable. Stopped here for lunch on day trip to Calais. Food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and well-presented. The three prix fixe menus offered limited but good choice of food. The little extras were provided by the things that were not on the menus, the mises en bouche, the bread, the little extras with coffee, etc. Service was attentive and good. I wish we could eat like this in the UK without paying silly money and being pretentious.
