Having read all the reviews, we went there for lunch, having been to some other restaurants in the region, we believed this would be the best so far, this couldnât have been farther from the truth, the service was decent, but the food was absolutely horrible, the traditional maranhos was horrifying, it felt like eating rubber, completely dry and rubbery, nothing like what weâve had at other restaurants in the region... the desert too was dry and tasted old... I really canât understand how this restaurant has such high reviews, it baffles me! Itâs nothing but a tourist trap, avoid at all costs.

You find this âCafé â Restaurantâ on your way to Dornes about 500 meters before the entrance of the village on the left hand side of the road, a place to park the car is almost in front of it on the right hand side of the street. It has a very simple look from the outside, this because it is a typical âPortugueseâ restaurant, so do not be afraid to enter a do not expect a luxurious restaurant, this is more the place where the locals are going and where you find the good Portuguese kitchen. The restaurant has place for 40 persons to sit down. It works like this, everything they put on the table is counted on your bill in separate like bread and cheese and wine etc. when you do not eat it, and it will be not on your bill at the end.So for the two of us we had: bread - âCesto de pãoâ= 1.20⬠+ 1 âqueijo fresco â fresh cheeseâ = 1.80⬠+ ½ l âred house wineâ = 1.20⬠+ 2 âfresh vegetable soups of the dayâ = 3.00⬠+ 1 âdose Carne de porco alentejana â porc meat at the Alentejo wayâ = 10.00⬠+ 1 âfresh Melon pieceâ = 0.80⬠+ 1 âchocolate Mouseâ = 1.50 ⬠+ 2 coffees = 1.20 ⬠which brings our bill on a total of 20.70 â¬.The food price has a VAT of 13% and the wine a VAT from 23 %.We can say that everything was fresh prepared and tasted very good, when we arrived the restaurant was empty, but after about ½ hour later we were with 16 persons and this at noon on the ned of August. We can recommend this local restaurant to everybody.

Came here ''a l'improviste '' and was charmed by this small restaurant with only around 20 couverts. The waitress was very kind and helpful for those who can not speak Portuguese. It's a small menu but you can always find something you will love!!! Lots of fresh local products. And fresh fruit juices. The meal was very refined. Tasteful. Perfect. This small place is something really different! Cozy and cute!!! Nice place to spend some lovely evenings!!!

Typical Portuguese food restaurant, family style, with outdoor seating with a great view over the river and ancient bridge.
This little restaurant is clearly very popular with the local people. It was busy, and full. I am not sure what we ate but we accepted a local dish of meat and it was delicious!!Do go there if you are staying in Serta.

A beautiful dining room with linen tablecloths and napkins. We were served by young attentive professional staff. The menu offered a nice variety of local seafood and meats all cooked simply in Portuguese style. The pork and lamb were delicious. The fish was also simply grilled and excellent. They have an extensive wine list and the staffs suggestions were good. Prices were quite reasonable. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day.

This restaurant offers good, traditional food (including local specialities). Good service. Portions are large and a half-portion is perfectly adequate for all but the heartiest of appetites. The restaurant feels very unchanged from probably the late 1970s or 1980s, but in a good way. There is also a café/snack bar adjacent to the restaurant.

Don't miss it- however, be sure to check hours- if you miss the lunch hour, it may be slow/closed, given the rush is really at lunch/dinner time. Lovely folks!

We came to this restaurant on the recommendation of some locals. We had spent the day walking around the convent in Tomar and were starving. We ordered 3 mixed grills between 4 of us in the famaily and we couldn't finish it!The staff were attentive and efficient. If you want an authentic Portuguese grill - this is the place: thank you Grelha 3.
