Been to Osteria Donada under the previous management, which honestly was great and it's great to been able to say, the new management is event better. Friendly and welcoming, as the previous owner and food is delicious. Had seasonal meats today, outstanding! Prices: today definitely fair for what we ate and drink. We'll be back.

Grotto a Caslano posto ai margini del bosco da cui soffia sempre una leggera brezza perfetta per rinfrescare le calde serate estive che vi permettera di degustare i nostri piatti in assoluta tranquillita.
My wife and I went out to dinner for our anniversary. Being now time for ribs, and it was a wonderful evening, we opted for the Grotto Valle where we had a rich mixed barbecue. Great service, great food, great wine, perhaps a bit salty the bill, but still in line with other places in the region. Definitely worth a visit.

Ristorante sul lungolago di Lavena Ponte Tresa in magnifica posizione. Cucina mediterranea con specialità di pesce e pizzeria. Siamo a 20 minuti da Varese e a ridosso del confine con la Svizzera.

On my way back to Holland I stayed for 1 night in Ponte Tresa and had dinner at Ristorante San Michel. We arrived quite late. First impression was not good. Many guests were already enjoying their deserts and they looked like cheap ice scoped on a plate. The restauarant looks outdated, somewhere stuck in the '80's, pffff I guess we'll survive.Boy were we wrong. We took a salad, how exciting can it get? This one was really good. Full taste and lots of variety.Main course was risotto with Ossobuco. Amazing. Wonderful and realy tasty. They had excellent wine which suited our courses perfectly. We had a wonderful time and can recommend this place to everybody. When I am in the area, I know exactly where to go.thanks for a great evening.

Nuova gestione dal 01/06/2018. Grotto affacciato sul lago Ceresio, cucina tradizionale con prodotti nostrani e ottimi dolci casalinghi
it is not easy to find hidden above Caslano everything is fresh and the service is fantastic I had imalfatti and you would think it would be pasta but no fresh spinach and cheese with à sage sauce and for the main course braised beef and polenta the beef was melt in your mouth and the sauce to die for a must if you are in the area a must.

My husband booked us a table at this charming grotto for a Sunday lunch whilst we were staying in the Induna Olona area. Although we have travelled in the area a number of times, we hadn't experienced a genuine 'grotto' - and what a delightful experience it turned out to be. We were seated at the end of a large, communal dining bench, under a pergola heavy with vines. An olive wood board of exquisitely rustic charcuterie arrived - and rapidly disappeared... as did a bottle of the local red wine, which we drank from small pottery cups, grotto-style. Mains were perfectly grilled cuts of pork and lamb from the barbecue. Grotto del Cavic was packed with families enjoying their Sunday lunches - it was a wonderful atmosphere in a very pretty setting and the food was superb. It also made a welcome change from some of the region's more formal, finer dining restaurants.

If you're looking for good food, this is not the place to go. However, it has a romantic setting on the lake where you can watch the sun go down and enjoy the wonderful view as day turns to night. We were delighted to find it within walking distance of our hotel. They have a good list of both Italian and Ticinese wines, albeit on the pricier side. Their dishes are featured on blackboards in Italian, many a little over the top price-wise. Stick to their rustic dishes including polenta, or settle for a plate of local cheese, or their 'soused' trout (a speciality of the region) and you will find it enjoyable and inexpensive. Lunch in the sun is also a treat, with sailors coming by in their boats, mooring alongside the restaurant. We enjoyed excellent, attentive service when necessary, otherwise we were left to contemplate the idyllic scenery.

Excellent steak served on a hot stone so you can cook it to your liking. Right on the lake with a grassy area where kids can run around a bit before or after your meal.
