Known as the City of Palms, scenic seaside Bordighera is the proud supplier of fronds to the Vatican every Palm Sunday. Just a few miles from the borders of both Monaco and France, floral Bordighera has been a favorite resort destination for British visitors since the 19th century, when Queen Victoria herself was a guest. The town has many lovely gardens (like Pallanca and Winter), an archaeological museum (the Bicknell) and a lovely old town, but most come for the beach and seafront promenade.

Fish & seafood
We were driving from Milan to Monaco, it was lunch time and we stopped in Bordighera. Immediately after the Highway exit we were hit by the surrounding beauty of this place. We stopped at Bordighera Alta, the ancient high village, few people, nice views, nice Church and several bars and restaurants. We stop at this restaurant, as on the board the daily dishes were very interesting. We went for a starter called panissa, it is fried focaccia made with chickpeas floor and black pepper, then my wife selected the bavette, sort of linguine, with local asparagus, cherry tomatoes and small shrimps, delicious, I went for locally catches tuna and grilled vegetables, gorgeous. We drunk house sparkling wine that was fresh and goodLocation nice and charming. If you are in Monaco or Mentone and are looking for a true tasteful Italian dinner or lunch. This is a 20 minutes trip worth to make

Both our visits here were very enjoyable. Great food - both the pasta and the pizza - servings extremely generous, well-cooked and promptly presented. On our first visit we both had pasta first course and then swordfish steaks and were presented with accompanying servings of warm flatbread. Both home-made and shop-bought desserts. The friendly staff were eager to please and a decent bottle of Pinot rounded off two relaxed and pleasant evenings.

We visited for an aperitivo. Service was a bit distracted. We werenât really made to feel welcome even though the bar was quite empty. This was of course in February and it was COLD. It must be a very different place in the summer. Loud music was put on and we had to raise our voices to be heard - other customers too. This must have been obvious to the staff. We drank up and left. Shame - as we thought this bar looked good fun. Maybe itâs for younger people? We were surprised that the music could be heard right the way up Corso Italia which seemed unfair on neighbours and other owners of premises as well as those just wanting a quiet stroll. Bit selfish in my opinion and although we are staying in Bordighera for over 3 weeks we havenât been back.

Beach Restaurant & Lounge Bar. Only the best for the guests. Restaurant, Lounge Bar and Beach in one package.
The Lungomare, or seaside walkway, in Bordighera is very well-known in Northern Italy. Bordighera is near the French border and is one of the most charming places you would ever want to be. A big part of the charm is the Lungomare, almost 2 kilometers long and full of bars restaurants and beachside suntan businesses with cabanas for your street clothes. In the center is the Bordighera train station. To the west of the station is a restaurant/beach enterprise called Garroccio. It is quite charming and has good food. To the west is another beach enterprise owned by the same people called Kukua. It is a well-known family beach and restaurant. On June 1 of 2018, a new restaurant was added to Kukua. It is the epitome of riviera elegance and as of June 4 when I was there, already doing well. This place is in a class by itself, with a clean modernistic design right on the beach side with a spectacular water view. With a white and gray modern theme, the place has a crisp and clean riviera style. The waiter, Marco was multilingual and as charming as you would hope an Italian waiter to be.The prices are typical of beachside restaurants, and the menu is classic Italian. The fusilli pesto is a perfect blend of pesto (not easy to do) with some potato and green beans to round out the classic Italian dish. The salads are full of the freshest chopped vegetables and the wine list is comprehensive and reasonable. There are many restaurants on the Lungomare and it is hard to choose one, but for dinner or lunch, you cannot do better than the Kukua restaurant.

il punto d'Italia dove tramonta più tardi il sole; sulla punta più a sud e più a ovest del Nord Italia una magnifica terrazza sul mare
We love to come here for dinner. Itâs minimalist, modern, relaxed and welcoming. We have only ever had excellent food and wine here. Dress up or come casual it really doesnât matter. Itâs right on the beach, and when you come for the first time just follow the signs. Very difficult to get a taxi from this restaurant at night so be prepared to walk or drive.

This pizzeria is just down the street from where I have been living in Bordighera since November 2017. Blue Lagoon is just across the street, and I know my laziness has taken me there when my yearning for pizza needs to be fed. I decided today that it was time for a change. Il Cappero has only a few tables; I always try to beat the crowd when I'm eating alone and I also have American eating habits that regulate the timing of my hunger. I arrived at 7:10 pm and the tables were full within the next 30 minutes. In that time, 5 or 6 people also came in for pizza to go. I ordered a glass of red wine for 3⬠and Pizza Bordighiotta which was topped by tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto crudo, rocket, gorgonzola, and another cheese unfamiliar to me which was shaved on top of everything else. Pizza prices range from 8⬠to 12â¬, and this was at the top of the range. The fresh tomatoes were sweet and delicious and the rocket was fresh and crisp. The pizza crust was light and crispy at the edges, not overly doughy. There is also a decent selection of traditional Italian pasta and seafood dishes, including a regional pasta called Fioche alla Genovese--pasta with potatoes, green beans and pesto. This will be my "go to" place for pizza, and I look forward to trying other menu selections. I highly recommend, but either go early or make a reservation.

We absolutely loved this café-restaurant. Situed opposite the Bordighera railway station, it is a gem. Very fresh, only Italians (except for us :), menu only in Italian (which is always a good sign!). We had lunch there: spaghetti, cooked to al dente perfection, with garlic, hot pepper, spinach, and succulent calamari. We would definitely go back. I think I'll try Polpo next time. Yum, yum! The photo may look basic, but this was honestly probably one of the best pasta dishes we've ever had! â¬12 per person for the main, â¬1 for fresh cool filtred water served in a bottle (â¬25 for two). Delicious bread which tasted homemade. Only downside was that we waited quite awhile to be served, but there was alot of ambiance to be enjoyed and for me that is also a good sign of freshness.

One of the worst experience!.....First of all we had booked... Private Beach. At arrival a lady tells us that we can change in a specific Cabin (with a key on the lock). She gives us 2 matress at the extreme right corner nearby the public beach! ; ????? Upon the more than 50 matresses avalaiblme there was only 10 used by clients! Notice that we arrived at 11:30 AM.and plenty in front of the restaurant!!!So to make it clear plenty of place and free matresses.Very feww clients. Then someone comes to tell us that the cabin is for all...? Among the 20 others which were free with a key on the door!So we went back to collect our stuffs. No cabin ...? Keep in mind we had booked! Then since the sea was a bit wavy; we decided at 12:15 go go to the restaurant (Table was booked as well). The waitress inform us that all the food is fresh ans local seafood ; prawns and fishs. So we took the praws and the Brandade.and 2 cokes. To go to the final point:The prawns came uncooked; with the inside raw; the guts splitted all over the plate as I removed the head of the first one. Then I noticed that they are not "Chatrées" or castrated means you remove the black intestinc running from the head to tail!!!!!Concerning the other dish... Even worse, the smell and taste was disgusting ... well It tasted like S..; t... You Know...The wiatress came with her boos ; the lady took the plate back to kitchen. She came back telling us that we can change...I offered to pay and go; she said there nothing to pay.So we left the place with ;;;; No regrets.

Cozy place in the heart of the old village and great food quality with a touch of innovation while remaining close and loyal to the tradition. Surprise. One of those places why I love my country and, in spite of all the travels, can't find anything close to our food culture.
