Beautiful restaurant in Country Style, Teagarden und outside Restaurant. We offer different breakfast, Lunch with herbes from our own garden, in the afternoon Classic English Teatime ( only with reservation ) or Cream Tea. The best place for your family c
Great location, Buildings nothing special on the outside but once you get into the restaurant the place is warm, cozy and welcoming. We had carrot soup, very good, salad wasnt comparable to ultrafresh organic but good enough, some cold cuts a pot of tea ( assam) not the best ive ever had sadly, and a slice of very good cake. I appreciate the fact that tea is served in china, you get a big pot, old rugs add colour on bare floorboards, old comfy chairs invite you to stay, there are rose patterns on everything and unlike the more utilitarian style of swiss or german cafe this place is like visiting your aunt betty for tea ( only being in germany, unlike your aunt bettys its really warm inside) - a fireplace in every room, friendly waitstaff, a bit harried, not fast but that s fine. Easily spent 3 hours relaxing. One complaint - if you pay with a credit card and the bill is less than 40 euros they charge you 2 euros on top - they tell you when you want to pay which is fine, but for 2 people without alcohol 40 euros is a high bar (afternoon snacks not lunch) - still 5 stars because whats in the box is whats on the box and i know of no other place this charming serving scones and clotted cream in the basel areaDear Polianthusthank you so much for your warm feedback. I am glad that you appreciated our house. We always try to create a nice atmosphere for our guests. You mentioned thatthe vegis could be improved which I totally agree. Winter is a bit difficult, but our chef has already worked out a contract with a local biofarmer for all our vegetables and our gardeners are about to sow all kinds of herb- and vegetable seeds in the greenhouses.( We mostly get seeds from Sarah Raven ).So from spring onwards everything will be fresh as a daisy, so I hope.We are looking forward to seeing you again some time when the gardens are at their best. With kindest regardsGisela Seidel

Went here in January 2014 for a family event. With a group of 30 plus, the whole of a side room had been booked. Ambience was great, and service was friendly and helpful. The menu had a small choice, but everything that came out of the kitchen was great; the steak was one of the best I've had. Good puddings.

This proved to be a very popular restaurant and once you have tasted to food you know why - much better than normal house salad to start with followed by excellently cooked present main course - price was pretty reasonable taking into account the quality and atom sphere - very popular with locals which says a lot for any restaurant

We had a lovely family meal here, which met all the requirements - Wiener Schnitzel (great for kids), Elsaesser Flammkuechle and Spaetzle dishes were all excellent. Friendly staff - very accommodating for a larger group. Good value for money too and not to forget the excellent view over the Vogesen in the sunset - stunning.

I first came here about 5 years ago and whenever in the area visiting family I would always pick 'The Berghofstuble' to come to for a special evening out. I love the fact that though its a top class restaurant, it feels relaxed, and almost informal. A restaurant within a pub kind-of-feel. Saying that, the conservatory area for eating is quite special. The service here is very good and the staff have a thorough knowledge of the dishes served. But its the food that is so good. I don't know whether this place has a michelin star or another accolades, but thats not important.........you can't eat the certificates........but you must try the food here. Its really excellent, I had the lamb with the herb crust and wild mushrooms, it was spectacular. Just to mention..........I am always happy to be critical about aspects of a restaurants service or food offering, but with Berghofstuble there isn't anything to be critical of. You must give this restaurant a chance and book a table when you can.

With our stay inside the hotel we have proved the restaurant too.The first what we checked was the number of swiss people fromBasel which came for dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was very good, but not so cheap. ok your are close to the boarder of Switzerland.

We visited the restaurant rather late in the evening and just before they were going to close the kitchen. So, we had to make up our choice very fast. The food was very good, the portions way too big. As well as for the kids (kids menu) as for the adults. Some advice, only take starters when you are really hungry, I mean Hungry :-)At the end of our dinner, a thunderstorm was on its way and the staff adviced us to go inside and helped us with our plates.

We have been there a couple of times after an early morning movie on Sundays. The crepes are decent and the rest of the food is actually good. The children menu is also quite nice for the price. Prices are reasonable for the portions and the quality. Service can be a bit slow sometime but the staff is very responsive when you ask. And for young kids there's a small bouncy castle indoor, which is quite fun for kids considering you most likely go there before or after 2 hours at the movies. Thanks
