We wanted to come for dinner to this restaurant with a history right at the river and bridge. Unfortunately all very very dirty so we decided to leave instantly. After reading further TripAdvisor ratings with similar statements we were happy that we did not stay. Is this a helpful review?

We went to this typical German restaurant with my German cousins, who live nearby. It's one of their favorites and is near Hotel Hof Von Bothmer, where we stayed. The cuisine was German, of course, but there was something for everyone. It's in an old thatched building and interior décor is old fashioned. The dining room is filled with antiques and the wait staff wears regional costumes.

DIE TRADITIONS GASTRONOMIE Hotel - Kulinarisch - Tagung - Event - Feiern Erstes Haus am Platze als moderner Traditionsbetrieb im Herzen von Westerstede.
This restaurant is located at the small heart of Westerstede, a tiny town famed for its Rhododendrons. The building seems to be some old estate with its original foundations dating back to 17th century. Nowadays it is home to a typical German restaurant and a fine hotel. The Fischteller (fish plate) 'Westerstede' consisting of perch, plaice and prawn was very fresh, well-prepared and tasty. Much to our luck, the potatoes were cooked instead of fried as so often the case in Germany. We took pale lager, Jever Pilsener, instead of wine and that turned out to be an excellent choice. Although the restaurant looked deserted, the service was friendly. The price/performance ratio was nearly perfect: we paid about 35 Euro for two persons including beer.Well worth a visit when you're in Westerstede.

We arrived in Westerstede looking for a hotel and spotted this nice looking restaurant - and as luck would have it they had a hotel too.The restaurant is hyper modern but really comfortable and atmospheric. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and most speak good English too.We came here on our trip to Sweden - and as the food was so good we stopped here again on our trip home to the UK. First time we had the steak which was incredibly tender and second time the medley of beef, pork and chicken. So well cooked. They have a very good wine-list too, and scrumptious desserts. And it is unbelievably reasonably priced! We are already planning in another visit on our next Sweden trip!
The restaurant was the venue of a large (approximately 40 people) birthday celebration. The wood-burning fireplace was on which made the beamed restaurant (filled with antiques) a cozy place to spend several hours. The service staff and the owner were extremely helpful, very efficient and kept the drinks and food coming at an amazing pace. Speaking of food, it was absolutely excellent despite the large number of people to be cooked for a served at once. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to celebrate an event or just a quiet meal for two. There are several dining rooms and two fireplaces as well as an outdoor garden area. I can imagine the garden would be heavenly when the weather is warmer. When I visit my friends again in this area, I will certainly stop there for a meal.

While vacationing from Vancouver, visiting relatives in Wilhelmshaven for a week, my brother & his wife took my husband and I to " Der Spieker " for a special dinner after visiting the delightful village of Bad Zwischenahn. We loved this beautiful rustic and historic Bauernhaus Restaurant very much. It had a wonderful atmosphere and ambience during our meal. My husband does not speak German and while I was trying to translate, our very friendly waitress handed him a menu in English. She was dressed in the traditional costume of the Ammerlaender area we were told. The food was all very delicious especially my dinner of Bratherring & Crispy Fried Potatoes. My brother had the Suelze with Fried Potatoes which he orders every time he comes to this Restaurant. My husband's favourite beer is Erdinger Weissbier and was quite happy to see it on the menu as well as the "Weber Spezial" which he enjoyed! We will definitely come back next time we are in Wilhelmshaven! I would recommend this Restaurant highly for anyone visiting the beautiful village at the Lake.

The interior of this restaurant looks very neat, clean and remotely stylish. It seems to be a popular place amongst the locals as virtually all tables were occupied on a Saturday evening. The appetizer that we had, a small pumpkin soup with additional bites, was quite tasty without being extraordinary. The pasta, however, was exceptionally overcooked and came in too big a portion. I have noticed that quite a few German restaurants tend to overcook their pasta, so this might be a local practice. Anyway, the dish itself was prepared with care, but lacked any direction. The service was effective. We paid about 65 Euro for two persons for two courses including a bottle of mineral water.
