The taste is OK. For the same price we got far better food. Yet, it was very busy, seems many people find them very good.

Whenever en route from the UK to NL we stop off in Aalter, a lovely little town with good amenities. We always visit this Café because of the great selection of beers (Tongerloo Blond, voted the world's best beer on tap), friendly service and nice food. I would recommend this place for a relaxed drink & bite to eat. They have additional nice seating outside on the square in the summer days.

The recepcion and the service where extremely freindly, the even anounced that there is posibility to change in the menu in case any body should be alergic or not liking some foods in the menu. The first plates (2) where extremely delicious, the main course at my opinion was to less spiced, and also the sauce was not spiced, but this was the only point wich wastn so good as whe expected. The dessert agin was delicious.Whe can recomand the wines wich ware very good and you can even get more than you wanted.

Recommended by the BW hotel Orchidee after asking for Belgium food I landed at the "coffee bean". Nice service, good food (perfect steak with fries and salad), good house wine...easy evening! The location is opposite the nicely illuminated church in the center of Aalter. An easy and enjoyable evening!

First time we went to this restaurant. We ordered the 5 course menu. Every course was nicely presented and nice mixtures of colors and tastes. We ordered the food with the matching wines, one full version and one BOB-version (special small portions for the car driver), and these blended well with the dishes. The restaurant is in a nice building with respect of the original construction and tables are placed very spacious and mingle nicely in the whole of the setting.Service was correct, but when a friendly introduction to the card/ restaurant or a chat in between I would have felt even more welcome. But probably the group at the other separate side of the restaurant asked a lot of attention... (so it too, us some time to see somebody to order some coffee at the end of the meal)As a conclusion, correct measured service but with excellent food, good timing of the different courses. We will certainly consider to go back a second time...

I've said and wrote it before, but we're very lucky in our region with the many pretty great restaurants. As that other favorite of mine in Aalter ('t Vijfde Seizoen) was fully booked, we tried this new restaurant and it didn't disappoint at all.As often the case is, the appetizers were great, but also the first & second course (and dessert) didn't disappoint, en contraire. The main course was good, but was lacking a bit the creativity of the other courses. Will I visit again? Yes.

It was not the first time we were here, but again the chef surprised us. Young, friendly, helpful and enthusiast staff. Nicely balanced menu and fine wines. The tartare of Belgian beef with Filet d'Anvers and sesame seeds was beautifully presented on the dish and very tasteful. The main course with very fresh fish was grilled as it should be. A lot of attention for the surrounding vegetables. The accompanied wines surprised us also and we didn't have to ask for some more. Excellent value for your money!

Beautiful place and beautiful person! I always come in Gent for work and it's the third time that I sleep in Hof ter Leie. I always take a dinner in this beautiful place, and I must says, as I'm Italian, that the food is really good. The owner are really polite and professional.
Restaurant with good food and tapas, perfect place to relax and enjoy
