1 hour Daintree River wildlife and crocodile cruise on the only solar electric boat on the Daintree river. The boat it is nice and quiet and there are no petrol fumes or exhaust , it is also good for getting close to the wildlife without disturbing it. We aim to treat this fragile ecosystem with respect and have minimal impact, our boat does not create a wake so we do not erode the mangroves. 'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group rainforest wildlife tours with a twist! As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal (at least 80% of them) a night element and spotlighting is always included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest, especially at night with all the new sights and sounds around you. On our tours we can never guarantee what we will see but we do promise you will see something! Very personal (max. 10) nature-based Daintree River tour. Experienced, friendly and science-based information. We think the tour when on a small boat is so much better than tours on the other larger 20, 24, 30-50 seat boats that also tour the river. (Doing usual their usual one-hour croc-spotting tours while sitting shoulder to shoulder on hard bench seats). (On some boats the people are all sitting facing toward the inside of the boat). We go for longer tours (minimum two hours) and go places where many boats can't go because they are limited by time and their larger boat sizes. Daintree Boatman Nature Tours provides small-group, wildlife cruises for close views of highly sought-after birds, snakes and crocodiles on the mighty Daintree River. Two hour cruises ($65 adult, $40 child) are provided at dawn and dusk whilst birds are at their most active and the river is at its most scenic. Cruises cater for a maximum of just 10 passengers and are customised to the interests of the passengers. The boat used is a unique 'hybrid' vessel utilising both a regular outboard and a commercial-quality electric motor which enables less disturbance of wildlife and better wildlife viewing. Cruises depart from the Daintree Village boat ramp. Private cruises are available for those with a specific interest such as wildlife photography.
