A day out in Sneek involves also looking for a nice place for lunch. After visiting the "Fries Scheepvaart Museum" and the heritage liquor shop of "Weduwe Joustra", it was already high time for lunch; the veranda restaurant "Onder de Linden" made an attractive showing. Furthermore, the restaurant was still packed with customers, so they must do something right. Against heavy odds we found a nice table in a relatively quiet corner. The service of the staff was a bit hectic due to the popularity of the restaurant, however, the waitress was able to give polite service. I opted for the "heritage" Sneeker Uitsmijter" advertised on the advertisement board outside as an old Sneek recipe. What shall I say about the food. As for the Sneeker Uitsmijter, you can do only so much with fried potatoes, fried onions and eggs, but as it was it was well prepared, a bit like a hearty German breakfast. My travel companion had chosen the soup of the day and bread with a deep fried croquette. She complained about the amount of salt in the soup. Although the awareness of the harmful effects of the consumption of too much salt is luckily becoming main stream, many restaurants still put too large amounts of salt in the dishes. Tallying the hectic service, the mediocre food and the Dutch restaurant prices, I can only award a three point rating.
Welkom in Lewinkel! Hier vindt u de hele dag door heerlijke verse ontbijtjes, broodjes, koffies, yoghurts, smoothies, afhaalmaaltijden en een aantal knusse zitplaatsen om 'bij te tanken'!
A nice cozy place at an unexpected location. Great for a breakfast, lunch or just a coffee. Nice original menu, good quality food and also affordable. Recommended!

They were very happy to serve lunch at 14:30 in the bar or brunch in the restaurant. We choose the bar as we only wanted a light meal. At attractive high room with a high ceiling overlooking the water. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to sit outside on the terrace. I had a tuna salad and my wife had a ceasar salad. Both came with a perfectly cooked poached egg.

We were tempted into the Royal Belegd after seeing patrons sat at the tables in the window enjoying beautiful cakes. We were not disappointed! The staff graciously spoke English to make sure we ordered what we intended ... a stacked apple pie, a 4 layer carrot cake and topnotch coffee! We too sat at the window bar and had a fine view of the Lemmerbrug drawbridge opening and closing to the multitude of sailing boats old and new that passed through it with the old Waterpoort bridge as backdrop - like a scene from Disney. We loved it all and to top it off the cakes were delicious!

Welcome to our brasserie De Koperen Kees. For fine dining, good lunch, good wine and special beer. Local products.
During our recent overnight stay in Sneek, we walked past âDe Koperen Keesâ restaurant on the way to our hotel. Due to itâs clean and cosy appearance on the outside, we decided to return later that evening for dinner. You immediately feel the cosy, relaxed atmosphere the moment you enter the door and with the dimmed lighting, you get a real traditional pub style feeling. We hadnât actually reserved a table, but were offered the last available one by a very friendly waitress. At first, the menu seemed to be a little different than the usual ones, but with a short explanation from the waitress, it all became clear. We werenât disappointed! Both our starter(s) and main course(s) were delicious and presented well. Compliments to the chef!A most enjoyable evening with excellent food and friendly personnel. Definitely recommended and we would certainly return here if ever we visit Sneek again.

We visited this restaurant for dinner and were amazed by its quaint decorations of religious art - we liked it but not everyone would. We enjoyed excellent starters and main courses, but the desserts were a bit too heavy and sweet for us. We were a bit taken aback by the wine list which offers most wines at high prices. What made the experience less memorable was the service, in the beginning we felt pressured by the waiter but when the time came to ask for the check it took a long time before we could get the staff to notice us again. All in all the meal was not the best value for the high price we paid.

The concept of trying as many dishes of the menu as one likes is great! And the selection of food from all over the world is - given the affordable price range - fantastic. Many of the small dishes are very well made and taste very good - but note that you cannot expect a culinary experience like in a Michelin star restaurant. The interior of this restaurant located in the old court house is a real treat - regardless of whether you sit in the main room or in the glass house style inner courtyard.Overall, this is a highly recommendable place for a slightly different restaurant experience. And whilst some of the dishes still have some room for improvement, it definitely makes for a great fun night as a couple or with family and friends.

Passed through Sneek during a weekend outing in Fryslân/Friesland and discovered this restaurant by sheer coincidence. Decided on the spot to risk it, and were rewarded with a surprisingly fine meal. Having had a buffet breakfast, we went for a salad meal, seafood for my wife and chicken for me. A full plate, a magnificent meal and able as well as friendly service. This place is a gem, a cut above most places - and that at a most affordable price. In a word, excellence!

Beautiful setting and a delicious meal! We had beef carpaccio, which was better than any I have had in Italy, with meaty, tasty spare ribs and a perfectly rare bavette of beef. Great service too! All in all a wonderful meal x
