We had planned to eat in Rijssen itself, however after a heavy week and then a bracing walk in the surrounding woods we decided, after a quick look at the menu to eat in the hotel. The restaurant is surprisingly large and quite well designed in a modern manner. The staff charming and quite professional considering their ages. To be frank the starter was disappointing, the chef's sampler consisted of lamb ham, coburger ham, smoked salmon and a deep fried prawn on a bed of frisse over which was a drizzle of sweetish, brown rather unpleasant sauce. No idea what it was. Hardly inspirational and oddly enough the most expensive of the starters. The mains were good, Hazepeper and wild boar. Lovely, but again nothing to get wildly excited about and the broccolli that came as a side was not really warm. We didn't have puddings as such, just coffees with liqueurs served with chocolate, brownies and a piece of apple cake...what's to get wrong? The only jarring aspects of the evening were firstly an overpriced house wine, basically Spanish plonk, and the fact that the waiter seemed to be wearing tap shoes (the waitresses all wore soft soles). It was amazingly irritating to hear him click back and forward over the vast expanse of hard wood floor. When we, somewhat diplomatically I thought, proposed to him that he could use some of his tip to get some rubber soles, he merrily informed us that "Yes, some of his customers found the noise irritating, but then again, some didn't". I'm still working that one out, has he actually had customers who have complimented his staccato salvos across the floor and found it enhanced the dining experience? I guess I'll never know.

We had an awesome time, my son and I. The pool was great, the restaurant served a great diner (although we had to wait quite some time before we got out food). We arrived by bike and next morning we were in the forest in no time.

Went there for a bowling session with dinner afterwards. Anything was done exactly as wished for by the organizers. Sometimes the waiters could be a bit more sensitive on empty glasses but all in all.. no complaints. The food was nice, the bowling was nice and all of us enjoyed for a very acceptable price.

I went here with my brother a couple of times in June and July. The food is delicious and the weizeners from tap in the summer a delight.

Had lunch at this place a few times. Is always busy and good choice for lunch. Went for an evening dinner: was disappointing. Little choice (kitchen is too small: can not cope with full diner service).

The restaurant is located in the street parallel to the main shopping street between the two public squares. Although it has been opened more than 35 years ago, the restaurant is quite modern thanks to recent renovations. We had dinner there with 7 friends. Before we sat down at the table, we were offered to have an aperitif in the seating area with a fireplace. There are also two outside areas. The staff is professional and friendly.A special feature of this restaurant is that they sell one liter bottles of water for just one euro and they even donate this amount to charity! Food and wine were great and for the price we paid we all said it is very good value for money.

Enjoyed a nice diner in the quiet centre of Rijssen. The service was the best I can remember, the served dishes of good quality and apparently also enjoyed by locals. Recommended!

We recently gave this place a try using our Albert Heijn discount stamps which offered the second 3 course menu for free. It allows you to choose from a preset 3 course menu with the following choices: meat, fish or surprise.I took the surprise, my wife took the meat. I got an appetizer with salmon and tuna. It was nice and tasty. My wife got a salad with chicken chunks in it.For the main we both got a small piece of chicken with curry sauce, some baked potatoes with skin, a tiny salad to share and a few pieces of beetroot. The flavor was okay, not bad, but also nothing really special. It sure wasn't a whole lot of food which was my biggest concern. For the desert we both got a piece of ice. It was nice and tasty. All in all, especially considering we got one meal for free, it wasn't a bad deal. I did get hungry again later on the evening due to the small portions though.Staff is friendly, the place looks nice, there's free parking behind the restaurant. I did read some reviews that some of the staff has a handicap, we didn't notice that it any way.It did take quite long to get the food served, although the restaurant was far from full. Would have been nice if it was a bit faster.Payment only using cash or PIN. No credit cards of any kind are being accepted.

The Kroon is a versatile restaurant with a wide kitchen. Please be welcome in or restaurant. See you at the Kroon
Good and solid menu to choose from with a relatively fast service and reasonably priced. They used to have a huge grand dessert but we havenât tested that one recently.
