The food is good and the service is nice. But unfortunately, we had to wait a long time between our entree and main course. Also, we could not hear each other very well because of the echo in the restaurant. There were a lot of people in a very small place. I had asked to prepare a special something for my husband's 50th birthday but they had forgotten about it. Also, the bill took a long time to arrive. It's ok but not top of the bill.

Very nice and cosy restaurant located in a calm square with the possibility to eat on the terrace. The restaurant provides very good food for an affordable price. The personnel is very competent, enthusiastic and nice. To go and come back! :)

Apart from the good coffee there's not much to say in favour of this 'eetcafé'. Staff was more busy chatting to locals/regulars and to each other than to look after other customers.

We went there with the restaurant week offer and we had a really nice night. The food was really good with interesting combinations fornthe amuse bouche. The meat and the appetizer (crab and yoghurt) were really good. The staff was really friendly and not pretentious. They went above their way to accomodate us with the baby and the explanations of food were complete.Only point of improvement would bebthe decoration.

This is a nice place to enjoy an outdoor lunch on a warm summer day, as it's situated in a picturesque little plaza in the older part of town. My friend and I enjoyed two tasty lunch dishes -- I had the grilled sweet potato salad and my friend had the pulled beef and kimchi sandwich. Service was decent and the prices reasonable (8 euro each). From the restaurant, an easy walk around the historic areas of town.

This was a lucky find, great wine menu, excellent food - very good standard of service - not stuffy or cold. I really liked it. Took the five course surprise and was delighted at the presented quality and taste of the food. Well worth a visit.

Lovely location by a bridge over a small canal - an ideal spot for a pre dinner drink.Décor inside is largely contemporary with interesting light fittings and the old wooden tables add warmth and ambience...a very pleasant setting.Staff are helpful, and charming, with discreet but friendly service. The food is really very good. We waited a while for our brown and white bread rolls which seemed to take a while until we discovered delightfully they were fresh from the oven.A good range of around 12 dishes which can be ordered as entrée or main course size -three small courses is almost too much.We had starters of bouillabaise the other home smoked salmon wit crispy boiled egg and urchin mayonnaise which was very good and a little unusual. Next oxtail with risotto and pickles, quite good and the other had pasta vongole - this was a little creamy in texture and I'd have preferred a cleaner non cream based version, the vongole were very tasty however. last course was pork belly with gambas - not the best choice as the pork belly while tender failed to crisp up the outside and the prawns were a bit on the tough side suggesting over cooking a little. All up we had a nice evening in pleasant surrounds with good service. Would eat there again.Reasonable wine list but not extensive. With three small courses we ad no room for dessert.

May be listed as Eetcafe Lumiere instead of Lumiere Eetcafe. I have photos from inside and out. Food was good, its in the center of town.
One of many eathouses in this small historic town. Inside a beautiful wooden pub interior, outside a large terrace on the canalbridge for sunny days. The menu is extensive: meat, fish and vegetarian, mainly Dutch and international dishes. Large portions of meat and potatoes, short on veggies. Reasonable prices. Veal liver and codfish dishes recommended.

Even if you have no urgent need, visit the men's bathroom for a unique view of Oudewater's townhall. For the remainder enjoy the excellent food at this youthful restaurant. The service is excellent, the action of the kitchen brigade can be openly observed, and they have a nice collection of wines. All at a reasonable price!

THE place to be De munt food ⢠drinks! Good coffee, homemade pastry, best lunches, nice drinks, good food and the best gin tonics and cocktails! Good quality, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan. De Munt has it all! De Munt is situated in an old bank building.
This is a very nice restaurant in many respects. The interior is very nice and excellent service. I think the chef also really knows how to cook as shown by the good taste of several of the dishes, with special compliments for the French fries. However, some serious problems need to be fixed. An almost complete lack of healthy vegetables is nowadays hardly acceptable anymore. Furthermore, all dishes were far too high on calories, e.g. the pumpkin soup, and especially the dessert was completely over the top with too much cookies and other stuffing ingredients. So if they adapt to modern times and give much more attention to healthy ingredients, that by the way most often can also taste great, this restaurant has a great future.
