Reviews on Dutch food in Kaatsheuvel, North Brabant Province, The Netherlands. Kaatsheuvel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkaːtsɦøːvəl]) is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, situated along highways N261 and N628. With a population of roughly 16,600, it is the largest village in and the capital of the municipality of Loon op Zand, which also consists of the villages of De Moer and Loon op Zand. As Kaatsheuvel is a municipality capital, it had a town hall located in the town centre. The town hall was torn down in 2010 as part of an ambitious plan to build a lively new town centre. Currently the new town centre is being built, working title Bruisend Dorpshart (Sparkling Village's Heart). Kaatsheuvel is (internationally) well known for the Efteling theme park and a gateway to National Park Loonse en Drunense Duinen.

Industrial atmosphere, seems to be always crowded.Dinner (2 or 3 course menu's or al-la-carte) is pretty ok. Nothing fancy but just honest food. For instance, the salmon that we had, tasted good and had a very decent size!Considering the environment and dinner provided, prices were good. Best if you make reservations in the weekendOne thing that sets them apart from other restaurants is that the staff really put in a lot of effort and treat you very enthousiastic and doing everything they can to make you comfortable and feel welcome.

The restaurant is located north of Efteling (a few minutes drive) and really close to the hotel we stayed in - the NH Waalwijk. The waitresses were very nice, and the design inside was cute in a fine way. It seems to be a place where the locals spend their time in a nice atmosphere, and it wasn't too crowded. The food was mostly Dutch, with a little Indonesian influences. We got the food after 20-30 minutes after reservation (which made us a little anxious), but when we got it we were very please - both from the sight and the taste of it.I can only say, that every dish we got was between good and excellent, and if I'll ever be in that part of the Netherlands again, I will surely come back

Staying at Efteling and wanted to eat somewhere off-site so decided to go into Waalwijk (10 minutes drive). Chose the Kandinsky as it is in the centre and good ratings. Great choice! The sharing platters to start are something different with smoked tuna, duck, oysters, etc. We tried a few main courses - veal was great, burgers fantastic, fish of the day excellent, pasta very tasty. Really can't fault the food at all - and the service also very good. In fact, we went back the night after for a repeat performance. Best to book so you're not disappointed!

We were a mixed party of 12, consisting of Grandparents, parents, and children. We arrived on to the restaurant, and were quickly seated, wine glasses in hand and perusing the menus. The food was all good quality, perfectly cooked and served in very adequate portions. We were taken under the wing of Ymko and her colleagues, and their one ambition was to ensure our enjoyment. They interacted and joked with us, and clearly feel very happy and comfortable within their roles. After the meal, our children were crowned with chef's hat, and spirited off to the kitchen to create their own personal desserts!! Great touch, and it went down very well with both children and parents alike. We also ordered pizzas, chicken wings, garlic bread etc., to our house on a subsequent night, and again were very happy with all dishes. We did have a few drinks in the bar on our return from the park, and found all the staff very accomodating and friendly. Even the young pizza chef (with the Scottish accent!!) just came to get a cup of coffee from the machine on his break, still stayed and chatted to us. I would happily recommend this restaurant, and particularly the staff, to anyone looking to be spoiled after a long day!!If Carlsberg did Theme Park Restaurants ........... Indeed!!

This new grand cafe was opened early in 2016 and on my "to visit" list for while already. Yesterday I took my sons out to lunch and visited this modern facility. The place is large, has a big outside terrace and a transparent view from the sitting area inside to the kitchen. There is also a large bar in the middle of the interior but also cosy and a bit secluded seating arrangements on the sides are available. In all pleasant surroundings with nice Christmas decorations adding to the atmosphere. We had lunch and we all chose something different. In the mean time we had a chat with the owner who certainly puts his own mark on the way to run the premises. After a short wait the orders were delivered and we enjoyed the meals which were somewhat different and very tasteful. The place was not very crowded on an early Sunday but we will surely come again for a nice dinner. They use the "Josper" oven grill to cook their fish and meat and we certainly must try this next time. Hopefully visitors of the Efteling will discover this nice venue and they deserve it.

On our search for a Saturday night dinner we ended up at "Bij Anton" on the large new square in the center of Kaatsheuvel. The restaurant is on the north side of a large building that also houses the public library and the town hall. They have a lot of seats outside but also many tables inside. Nevertheless it was almost full when we arrived, without a reservation. Fortunately there was still one table for two available and when we were seated the waitress came to ask for our order. As we had not seen a menu yet we ordered that first and we got English menus although we are Dutch. But at least we could go through the menu choices and also ordered some wine by the glass, which is not expensive but only small glasses. Taste of their house wines was surprisingly good though. We ordered soups as a starter, followed by a main dish. I had 2 types of game which tasted delicious. My partner had a steak but although she ordered medium it was served almost rare which was a bit of a mistake. When we told the waitress afterwards she told us that we should have said that earlier so that they had a chance to rectify it. But the place was so crowded that the food would have been cold by then so we ate it as it came. Quality of the dishes was surprisingly good as well and we were quite happy having made this choice. Maybe on another day or time the place is a bit less crowded but for the food you should consider this restaurant. Might also be a good address for a hot or cold lunch. Prices are very reasonable here too by the way.
