This restaurant has a very nice location with a pretty terrace. However, the service is terrible. We arrived and were ignored. We were finally offered something to drink, but failed totally to get a menu to order food. There were enough staff, they just seems dis-interested. After about 20 minutes, we decided to go elsewhere.

Bruin Eetcafe
We found this restaurant just off the centre of Assen a few years ago and visit at least once every time we are in the city. Great atmosphere and service, good choice of food (menu available in English) 2 minute walk along the canal in to Assen and reasonable priceAdvisable to book as can get very busy especially during Dutch TT weekend

The food at Brasserie 21 was well prepared and tasty, both the burgers and the other dishes. The terrace is well positioned in the setting sun. Service was friendly but needs improvement ... 1) too slow even though it was far from full, 2) mistakes made in the dishes ordered and 3) drinks forgotten.

Really good atmosphere in the boat. The staff is nice and the choice is great. I took a banana pancake with cinnamon and sugar. Its a really thick pancake and worth the money. Enjoyable for lunch or dinner.

The restaurant is modern, relax and comfortable. 4/5 The service friendly and efficient. 4/5 We ordered for lunch: Mushroom ommelet with dark bread and salad. 4/5 Italian bun with salad and spicy steak stripes. 4/5 Green tea 3/5. A nice place for a lunch break and a good price performance balance.

Never been to this restaurant before and we arrived when the heavens had opened and we had to dash to stay dry.Service is a little slow but the menu appealed to us. Not pretentious but good food. We will certainly be back here.Thank u!

The restaurant is based on a square with many different restaurants and bars. Entrance is large and spacious. However for a cold night the door just opens into the food area. So if sitting close you might feel a draft. The restaurant serves several menus, of which the 'Bib Gourmand'is excellent value. Strangely enough though if you do not eat the whole menu, you pay more (so two courses are 40 euro and three courses in the menu is 37 euro... strange). Starters were thinly cut beef (very nicely done) or fish. Main again meat (duck this time) or fish (cod). Both also prepared nicely. Dessert (for the ones taking it) was prepared really nicely. A panorama of mushrooms on a bed of earth and grass... (see photo)Bedankt voor u mooie reactie.

It was sunny lunchtime so the terrace was very busy. But the service was still efficient and friendly. The menu was slightly more extensive than the usual lunchtime menu in the Netherlands. I had a "warm" salad with fillet steak pieces, which was perfectly cooked.

The main restaurant inside the Van der Valk Motel Assen is called 28 Dining, named after the highway A28 on which the motel is located. It is a very spacious and recently redecorated restaurant in faux seventies style. The food was pretty decent and did not take too long to come. Be careful to sit a bit out of airconditionings way.

We had a celebratory lunch at Touche which could very well be the best restaurant in Assen. The menu is simple but refined. The food is outstandingly good. Service was very friendly, perhaps slightly insecure now and then due to inexperience but very customer oriented and also quick despite a full house on a Saturday. There is not something available as a set three course lunch menu, but one can choose a main course and dessert easily from the regular menu. Red house wine (a Carmenere) tasty and generous.
