Slow down, take the time to find, tour, listen, and learn what happens when a passion becomes a whisky. The techniques used to make a lovely, smooth, easy drinking whisky is unique. The knowledge, passion, and care the owner I met takes is very heartwarming and interesting. Take the time, you will be well rewarded.

We stopped here as part of a day trip to the mountains this past weekend. Saw the billboard on the highway and decided to stop on a whim. Really glad we did. We met Laura who is a co-owner and she spent time with us giving the history of the family and going through a quick tasting. It was a really enjoyable experience and we came home with two boxes of great products! I would definitely stop by here if you are in the area and interested in a fun and informative experience.

Come and check out one of Asheville's award-winning craft distilleries! Schedule a tour and tasting through our website or by giving us a call.
This was a fun visit for us! If you like craft cocktails, it could be a fun visit for you too. We had some samples of gin and vodka and drinks that were amazingly good. It is downtown and was super close to our hotel (the Cambria).

The only producer of traditional Applejack. Come learn about the only spirit created by freezing and not boiling. Applejohn Traditional Applejack is a frozen concentrated hard apple cider. Holman's Applejacks are available in aged and unaged versions and Holman's High 148 Proof Vodka is easy to use by using less. Come taste the only tasteless vodka.
Recently this distillery was featured in the New York Times, about interesting family distilleries and those distilling apples in unique ways. We made it a point to drive there for a visit. The distillery is located not far from North Wilkesboro, NC, in a scenic part of the Brushy Mountains. John Holman, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his business; he majored in chemistry at UNC and is technically well versed on the processes of distillation and related matters. He is also a very nice person. A tasting was scheduled and included at no extra charge; this was most informative and enjoyable. We chose a case; of particular interest were applejack products made the "old fashioned way" (before prohibition); one tastes a lot like a good bourbon and the other is like a brandy that blends well with almost any quality sweetened liquid; we had a sample of a delicious cocktail that could be made with it. Sample drink recipes are provided. We also especially liked the apple vodka. The tasting was conducted outdoors with great care toward spacing and other precautions arising from the pandemic. (In fact, this distillery created and marketed to the federal government a disinfectant used to combat the pandemic.) In sum , we highly recommend this business and look forward to exploring in greater the depth the products we purchased and returning with friends..

Oak and Grist creates small batch artisan spirits using locally malted grains. We've crafted each of our recipes to showcase a distinctively Appalachian character that speaks to our regions history and its native flavors. Our spirits aim to reward the curious and excite the connoisseur, while fostering a stronger connection between producer, consumer, and place.
If you like good whiskey; if you like good gin (even I didn't mind it and I do not drink gin); then you have to make a point to stop on here. The place is really good. Good, knowledgeable, friendly staff and wonderful whiskey. Love their Blended #6 and even their Dark Gin! Ashley was great!

Great tastings!! Made from Crooked creek corn - heirloom. Reserve is 6 years in wood ford barrels, Blonde whiskey- different bottle shape, no crooked creek corn, not a bourbon bc only half proof at 80% (bourbon has to be above 50%corn mash, 125 proof or more entering the barrel and 160 proof or higher at the end, made in us, aged >4 years). Troy and Sons - Nectarine honey moon shine super sweet. Goes good over icecream. Cinnamon honey moonshine - would be good in coffee!

They now have live music and each night they have different food truck that comes and parks next to their outside seating where the band plays. Starts around 7 pm and band at 8 pm. Get there early at 7 to get a seat. Dave, the owner, has put together a great lineup of bands, including an Elevated house band with Bluegrass performers who are very talented. We have been a few times, and each time the food was very good.(the BBQ truck was SO good) and the drinks cold and music excellent. Dont miss this when you come to the valley. Their facebook page has their schedule.
