The Outpost at Rackams is a rum lovers heaven. The venue was established by Cayman Spirits, the Cayman Islands Distillery. Guided Rum Tasting Flights start at $5 USD and up. There is an interactive Barrel Wall featuring 20 varieties of rum and spirits that you can taste. Guests are able pick an empty bottle and have the guide fill, cap and label your own bottle directly from the barrel.
We stopped into The Outpost at Rackums and we enjoyed some Rum tasting as well as hot sauce. Ran into Moses and Jamar and they were the most pleasant and knowledgeable people. Picked up some Dark and Coconut Rum for the road. Strongly encourage stopping in and enjoying some spirits.

Crab Island is the first rum distillery in Vieques.
Iván, owner/distiller of Crab Island Rum has it all going on! He can explain all of the nuances if his own runs and the rum business (and how other get away with selling rum made elsewhere with a PR label, what?!). He is the real deal! He has studied the process, spent years creating his recipes and put his sweat, blood and tears into this business. The end product is pretty good tasting rum! He has a couple of flavored rims, which are made from all natural products. The orange infused rum is not an artificial flavor, nor is the coffee rum. Both excellent. His other two runs are 1 year old. He has rum in the barrel, my guess is that before too long he will be developing a longer aged rum. That will be something to look forward to. :) Support locals, spend a little more $ for a fine product and a true entrepreneurship!

We went to the distillery and were really impressed by the dedication and vision the owners have and the pride the employees have to make this product. They are making rum (it was really delicious by the way!) from sugar cane they grow and using locally sourced fruits. Some unusual flavors that I loved! They explained the process from start to finish, loved it all!
