I booked Cameron to provide a tour of Isle of Skye for my husband and father-in-law, for my husband's 40th birthday. They had an amazing time with Cameron and said it was a trip of a lifetime! From my end, Cameron was so helpful in planning, responded quickly and pricing was reasonable for services. He also provided me updates and photos once he located the boys, so I knew that everything was going as I had planned.

My wife and I just happened upon this tour with our guide Keith which was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about all the places we went including the Glen Ord Distillery, Castle Urquhart, and the Loch Ness. Truly an incredible tour and almost enough reason to come back to Scotland just to take another tour.

The process for booking was very simple and easy. We were picked up at our hotel on time and the day was outstanding. We were provided distillery options with an explanation of what they offered. We modified our plans based on Gavin's recommendations and were glad that we did, the tours were great. It is the best way to see and experience the distilleries in a day. Highly recommended.

This tour visits many of the actual locations mentioned in the Outlander Novel/TV series. Whilst much of the filming took place in the South of Scotland the true location of the Jacobite Strongholds are to be found in the Highlands.Like all my tours this will be a laid back and relaxed day and flexible in every respect. The tours are conducted in a luxury van type vehicle which has excellent head and leg room and adult sized seats for all occupants. Complimentary water and snacks are carried in the vehicle and WiFi is also available wherever reception allows. Entry tickets are not included but can be obtained in advance for you at cost on request. Lunch stops are at your own discretion however the driver will be able to find you somewhere nice to eat as you require.

Inclusions: Collection and drop are off from the location of your choice is included., Water and snacks carried in the vehicle are included., Complimentary multi user WiFi is included where reception is available, Snacks, Bottled water

Exclusions: Whilst good views can be had of Urquhart Castle from the area overlooking , to get close up to the Castle involves payment of an entry fee. Cancellation policies make this unfeasible to obtain these in advance however, I can obtain tickets at cost at short notice - just text or phone me to let me know the day before., Culloden Battlefield is free to visit however there is a visitor experience and museum which charges an entrance fee - I can also source these tickets at short notice at cost price - helps to avoid lines, Meals required are not included however your driver will help to identify a suitable venue as you require

My husband and I had a wonderful day last week (Oct 2020) exploring the Northern Highlands from Inverness with Craig. Prior to our visit, I communicated with Craig via email to plan our day. I had a few things in mind that I wanted to see, such as the Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns and Dunrobin Castle, but mostly explained that we wanted to get a sense of the history and culture and stop and take in the beautiful landscapes and take photos. Craig delivered all that and more, exceeding our expectations, with his knowledge of the area and his delightful stories. In addition to all of the above, Craig whisked us off to a surprise visit to fascinating Wardlaw Mausoleum to learn more about the Clan Fraser (Outlander fans will understand!), Beauty Priory, Shin Falls to see the salmon leaping (yes, we did get to see actual salmon!). We had another surprise at Dunrobin Castle with a Falconry demonstration, which normally would not be operating this time of year. Many stops along the way to see beautiful vistas, Loch Fleet World Heritage site where we had a good view of the seal colony, and Clootie Well. Craig was the ultimate host, picking us up and dropping us off at our Inverness hotel, driving us in comfort, complete with safety measures of hand sanitizer and masks, and more importantly a picnic hamper full of snacks. He was very responsive and communicative before and after our trip. I highly recommend Craig as your personal tour guide to the delightful Highlands.

The success of Diana Gabeldon’s “Outlander” novels, and the resultant TV series, has been something of a phenomenon and has brought a new focus and a virtual explosion of interest to many of the historic sites throughout Scotland.  The Highlands is the centre stage of the unfolding story both in fact and the tapestry of fictional story. Hame Tours have responded by creating an “Outlander” day, integrating features of our existing tours which have an Outlander connection into an eight-hour itinerary with visits to the actual sites which either feature in the series and books, or are almost certainly the inspiration for the characters and events portrayed.  These are, of necessity, not always where the filming was undertaken but are the real theatre and stage of this romantic, but tragic, period of history. You will visit the following places in the company of our driver/guide whose commentary will bring alive the relevance of these visits.

Inclusions: Driver/guide, Live commentary on board, Hotel/port pickup and drop-off, Private tour, Transport by private vehicle

Exclusions: Gratuities

My guide, Seoras, was exceptionally knowledgeable, and his passion for Scottish culture, the Highlands and the Gaelic language is palpable. He is a natural storyteller, eager to regale you with tales both personal and epic.  I had the absolute pleasure of touring Inverness, Culloden and Chanonry Point. Including visits to famous inspirations for the book and tv series Outlander. Serolas was incomparable with his generosity and eagerness to share. Unmissable tours with amazing guides!!

10. The Black Isle

Hame Tours

The Black Isle The Bonnie Black Isle is, on a bright summer’s day, not black. Nor, on any other day is it an island. “Bonnie” (Scots for “beautiful”) however, it assuredly is and it affords the visitor many beautiful views, seascapes, wildlife and places of interest. The “Isle” is in fact a peninsula strategically lying between the broad expanses of two Firths, Moray and Cromarty.
