We planned our own itinerary , so what was Most important for us was the guide. We interviewed quite a few former customers of different guides, and finally settled on Augustine. He got glowing recommendations from people who had been with him, and even so, he managed to exceed our expectations. He is immensely knowledgeable- not a single question we came up with, that he didn't know how to answer. He is totally honest and punctual. Whatever you agree on - is carried out to the letter. He is a great and careful driver. He is extremely friendly polite and nice. But the really impressive part is his concern for his clients wellbeing and pleasure. He takes enormous pains, with great interpersonal sensitivity, to see that you get maximum pleasure and experiences from your trip. We have been to numerous out of the way places, where we needed local guides/drivers, and have had some really good ones, but Augustine is in a league of his own.

I enjoyed our tour of the city. What I loved most about it was how enthusiastic our tour guide, Daniel was. We had a well informed guide of how the city came about, what each places were, what happened there and what to do around the town. This was my first experience having a tour guide and he made it memorable.

Our tour includes a morning coffee at a cultural village and a relaxation moment on Lake Muhazi at the end of the safari. We offer a packed breakfast and lunch made of Rwandan burritos, a fruit basket, a delicious homemade banana cake and Samosas. We also provide vegetarian meals. Water is also included. We offer accommodation (optional) at Yambi Guesthouse so you may not have to worry about taxi transfers or those hotel wake up calls. We offer in-car bluetooth transmittor so you can play your favourite music throughout the entire Safari. Our drivers may also sing along and their horrible voices have been known to attract elephants, monkeys and buffaloes. 4 Our guides are certified and they speak English and French.

My partner and I decided to take the tour on our last day in Rwanda. We've been living in Rwanda for 3 weeks already but we never had to opportunity to explore. My partner and i were picked up at our apartment which was a plus! ( a little late but they manage to call to inform us that they were on their way).It was only me and my partner on the tour and must i say, it was lovely. We did inform that we had to be back to our apartment at 5pm and they noted that very well. Our tour was custom to our preference which was a plus. (Keep in mind, that Kigali has a curfew.) Patrick was very well educated on the history of Rwanda! We had a delicious lunch and had a great conversation with Patrick during our lunch which was great! It was not an awkward lunch. It is a very lovely tour. I recommend if want to see the major "must see" of Kigali. It was very lovely to have Patrick around as our tour guide. Patrick spoke very good english and ensure we had a great experience to take back home.

I ended up being the only person on the tour. Augustin fetched me in Muhanga and we made our way to Kibuye. Lake Kivu is incredibly beautiful. Our boat made a few extra stops on other islands which was very special. Lunch and the hotel setting was superb. I would do this day tour again tomorrow! Thank you Placide and Augustin ????

A group of friends and I visit an African country each year. Kigali was our pit stop for October 2019 and we needed a tour company to provide us with a tailored package that included navigating the popular tourist sites and getting to see the real Kigali! Liz and her business partner Claudine did not disappoint; their professional approach was second to none and we received great recommendations re tourist sites to visit, restaurants to eat and coffee shops/ bars to chill. Our own dedicated tour guides and coach service made getting around easy. Our first stop was the Akagera National Park followed by visits to the Genocide Memorial and Parliament Museums. A sumptuous lunch at the Hotel des Mille Collines aka "Hotel Rwanda" followed by individual visits to local markets and galleries followed. Our evening ended with a Kigali bar-crawl! An amazing road trip at the crack of dawn to Rwesero to enjoy the lake Muhazi and King Fish Beach Resort kicked off our 2nd day! The scenery was as good as the food! To top it off a bonfire was organised where we chilled appreciated the nature! The night ended with an amazing rooftop reception in Kigali while we rounded up our city tour on the last day and spent the final evening at the renown Piri-Piri spot. I would highly recommend Phonenix Travel & Tours as they showed a deep knowledge of the entire landscape and definitely provided a rounded experience for us. One thing the group unanimously agreed on was that a second visit was necessary!

Tea was introduced in Rwanda in 1952 and is now one of the country’s largest exports. The fertile volcanic soil and temperate climate make for perfect tea growing conditions. The majority of tea is cultivated on large plantations, with a small contribution from tea cooperatives and private growers. Tea plants can be seen covering the rolling hills, their rich green a striking contrast to the blue skies, dirt roads and sunshine.

Leave Kigali as early as 05h30 and drive for an estimated 3 hours to reach Akagera National Park by 08h30. Spend the entire day through the park to depart to Kigali late afternoon or in the evening. Akagera National Park has a diversity of wildlife including buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas and many others. After a long time being extinct in Akagera National Park, the black rhinos and lions have recently been restocked. Their sighting is always not guaranteed due to their small number and the hiding character of the black rhino. Enjoy the game drive viewing the natural habitat of different animals, birds and enjoying the view of different lakes and landscape.
Inclusions: Safari vehicle with a protective sunroof, A driver-guide by Countryside Tours-Rwanda (with a Covid-19 test), Akagera Game Lodge Picnic packed lunch, Bottled water, Pick-up and drop-off anywhere in Kigali City

I took this tour as I just moved to Kigali and wanted to get an overview of the town and various neighborhoods. This tour provided just this. My guide Emmanuel was extremely helpful and patient with my endless questions about Kigali and Rwanda. He provided great information on the history of the country and city, but also was very helpful in showing me how things 'work' in Kigali - eg how to use mobile money, book a taxi, what various neighborhoods were like, etc. - eg requests beyond what the tour required. However, if you are just here as a tourist and are familiar with other African countries, you might not need a full day tour. You might do the 1/2 day instead. The restaurant we went to for lunch was fine, but a bit random...There must be places for lunch with a nice view, or something a bit more interesting...

I had a wonderful experience with Judith Safaris and my day trip to Sorwathe Tea Factory outside of Kigali. I emailed Judith a few days prior to my trip with a loose idea of what I wanted to do- basically "would it be possible to visit a tea farm & factory?". Judith provided an affordable itinerary very quickly. Celine was my tour guide and she was great- very friendly (like pretty much everyone I encountered in beautiful Rwanda), thoughtful and knowledgeable. The tea tour itself was great and it was really thorough. I learned about the process from picking the leaves all the way to the packaging and everything in between. I have taken similar tours in Sri Lanka and they were very enjoyable also but the tour with Celine and the folks at Sorwathe were especially detailed- which I appreciated very much. We also had a great lunch (with lovely tea) at Sorwathe with an incredible view of the spectacular landscape. If I were to do this trip on my own, it would have taken a bunch of phone calls to find a place to tour, arranging transport, and trying to piece it together. Working with Judith was so much easier. The customer service was excellent- both she and Celine really were interested in me having an enjoyable experience. I really enjoyed my conversation with both. Judith has a very inspirational story and I believe is one of the first woman-led owners of a safari company. Celine was as friendly as could be and she has such positive energy. She was the perfect guide. I really loved my trip to Rwanda and the day trip to Sorwathe with Celine and Judith Safaris was certainly one of the highlights. I highly recommend Judith Safaris and Celine as a guide. It's a locally owned company and was more than happy to support them. I look forward to visiting again one day and trying out some of their other tours.
