Guatemala City draws visitors whose interests range from Maya history to contemporary culture. Two museums house Maya artifacts, some of which were discovered on a nearby archaeological site. Other museums exhibit indigenous and modern art. In Mercado Central, an underground market, shoppers bargain with vendors selling local handicrafts. Additional attractions include a botanical garden and a scale replica of the Eiffel Tower. A night out in bustling Zona Viva caps off a day of sightseeing.

Tikal is an ancient Mayan city. Now is a national park declared Natural and Cultural Humanity Heritage by UNESCO in 1979. Is located in Petén department to the north of Guatemala and is the biggest prehispanic settlement in the country. The population could have reached the extraordinary amount of 100,000 people during its greatest time. This charming place with its many temples, pyramids, ball-courts, and palaces helps us to understand how this city could have been in the old days. Picture in your mind how that imponent civilization raised from the grounds until becoming one of the most important cultures in the world. Spanish explorers found it completely abandoned. Don´t miss the chance to experience the wonderful feeling of being in front of the temples and pyramids that stand on the landscape as protectors of this wonderful territory. If that's not enough, walking in the jungle, hearing the birds, monkeys and other animals in their natural environment is surreal in this place.

It was an amazing trip to Lake Atitlan. Early in the morning, I was picked up from my hotel by a van with a tour guide who was very knowledgeable and kind. Once we arrived to the lake, we took a small boat to cross the lake to a small town. The lake, the volcanoes made an unforgettable view! The lake was still, and the reflection of the volcanoes made perfect Instagram pics. The tour guide offered me to take some pictures and videos, which I found very thoughtful. We toured San Juan la Laguna, a quaint town, and visited a chocolate, pottery, textile, and art shops. The tour guide was very flexible and adjusted the tour to my needs. Overall, it was a great day, a great tour. I strongly recommend the tour and the company.

Pacaya volcano is one of the many (active) located around Antigua, the former capital of Guatemala, and perhaps the most accessible. The last big eruption of Pacaya volcano was in 2010. Until 2016, it was actually possible to see lava from up close during the hike – different tour companies took different routes. During sunset hikes, as soon as it got a bit dark, the volcano could be seen throwing smoke and lava.

When you arrive at the Chichicastenango market you will start the walking tour. This is located in the center of the town and is the heart of the commercial life of the Maxeños, the natives of Chichicastenango. Every Thursday and Sunday, merchants head to the central square to sell their products in this impressive indigenous market that has changed very little over the centuries. Explore the narrow streets and admire the products and crafts offered by the locals. In Chichicastenango you will also visit the church of Santo Tomás, built in 1540 on the basis of a pre-Hispanic temple. This is a magnificent example of colonial architecture and the Mayan and Latin influence is evident inside and outside the building.

Located in the middle of the subtropical forest, in the Southeast area of Guatemala, this is one of the easiest-to-climb volcanoes in the country. It will only take us 1 hour and a half to get to its emerald-blueish lagoon in its crater. This short hike will give you a breathtaking scenic route to the top, and when you think it cannot get better... you will feel at peace with the nice humid forest weather of the crater lagoon. If you like swimming, immerse yourself in the ravishing and refreshing waters. Are you ready?
