The family had been exploring the island of Bornholm from early morning, had just arrived Gudhjem and was in need of mid day meal. We walked around the harbor and decided to try Cafe Provianten. Not the largest place or longest menu, but we found something and made our order with the most welcoming hostess. A beautiful spot, retro furnished and a great ambience. And the food had great flavors, was nicely prepared and not overpriced. A great place to visit before or after a tour around the small town and harbor

A small cozy eatery right in the middle of gudhjem, with a simple menu where the ingredients are carefully selected and the prices very reasonable. The atmosphere is unpretentious in the little nice courtyard and the burgers are perhaps Bornholm's best. O
based on recommendations on TripAdvisor, we decided to go for the burger, and we were certainly not disappointed. We were the only people there as we were a bit early, and the service was great, pleasant and very welcoming. As three blokes with a healthy appetite, none of us could manage finishing off the whole plate of food, although we did our best as the burgers and fries (nice chunky ones) were delicious, and the price was very reasonable indeed. The place is quite small and quirky in a very charming way.

The food was tasty and interesting, but the portions very small and the prices high. A small selection of dishes. Our waitress was very nice, but spoke little English.Long waiting time, when the restaurant got busier.

We had a four-course meal, including two starters, a main course (lamb that evening), and a dessert. Actually, we had seven servings including an appetizer, and two small dishes. Every dish was very tasteful. The servant was very knowledgable and helpful. He recommended a good wine to the meal, and he also gave a good presentation of the dishes. We had a table at the window with a nice view over the Baltic Sea.

I've been here more times, as I live on Bornholm and like to bring friends/guests here. The place is owned by a couple - she's in the kitchen and he's waiting most days. Always a quick and humorous comment - nice and empathetic way and of course well-made food. As you may have seen (here on this page) they are famous for the giant "tartelet" which is a baked cup of bread (very crisp kind) with a stew of chicken and asparagus known as a traditional Danish dish, that usually comes in much smaller variations - cup-size, whereas this one is 4-5 times as big. That is one problem more people may experience - it's a bit too much food, actually, but the size itself make a lot of people come here just to try.I want to point to the rest of the menu which is also worth a taste. They have a handful of good quality Danish lunch-dishes as well as open-faced sandwiches that are as good as the famous "Tartelet".Once I had a VERY good layer cake with rhubarb and whipped cream - if that's on the menu, you should definitely go for that! Even you may think that you already had enough! You do not want to leave without - so at least you can share a piece with your friends or family.I will be back. Again and again...

Restaurant Le Port is an experience all year. You will get the best from the classic Danish and French kitchen served with the most beautiful sea view Bornholm can offer. In the summer you can enjoy the sunset and in the winter we keep it cosy indoors wit
We visited for dinner an evening in mid May. As first course we had among other new Danish asparagus and as main course the fish of the day served with among other small, new Danish potatoes. Both courses were excellent and so was the Austrian white wine Grüner Veltliner. Service was quick and friendly. This evening the seaview and the sunset was magnificent.Dear Gunnar G Thank you for taking time to rewiew us :) We hope to see you again!

We had booked in advance, as we had planned for this meal to be our top culinary experience during our two weeks at Bornholm. And it was!Driving along the coast line to get to the restaurant is in itself a majestic experience. Enjoying the view of the beautiful hotel-cum-restaurant from the outside and the sea from our table does make a romantic setting and a solid foundation for high expectations. We were greeted at our arrival. When asking for another (preferred) seating, we were accommodated, no questions asked. When asking whether the wine menu could be served in half size for the driver, we were also positively confirmed. Next up was the home made delicious bread and home made butters, each came in two sorts. The waitress were lively and professional, the timing was good and we were made to feel relaxed.A set five course menu with matching wines was the enjoyable ride we decided for. All dishes were made from a rich variety of seasonal, tasty raw material of good quality and often local heritage. The tasting spoon of the chef was certainly well trained and creative touches were on the palate and for the eye to behold.Only Kadeau does it better on this island (and at a higher price), and that's no little feat!

In the peak season we arranged a lunch outing with friends at Echo Valley. Luckily it was a fine sunny day. Due to the crowds, initially the staff placed us at a table indoors, but after eating the famous tarteletter and fried fish we moved outside for coffee. It was very nice to relax and chat for an hour or so and to soak up some sun even though the breezes from the Baltic aren't tropical!
