We had been due to see Andrea Bocelli in concert, but obviously with the current restrictions that is simply not possible. Instead, we decided to take a tour tailored to our needs and organised by Alessio, the maestro's nephew. From the first email, Alessio was easy to deal with, quick to reply and luckily for us spoke excellent English. We started with our tour with Tony, who picked us up from our accommodation in an air- conditioned comfortable 8 seater. We drove about 40 mins to the beautiful town of Volterra for a couple of hours of sightseeing, including visiting an alabaster workshop and a coffee stop. Tony's English is perfect and he chatted and explained the sights and history as we walked - just the right amount of information offered to make the experience interesting but not too heavy. Then back to Lajatico for a brief wine tasting and a most wonderful 4 course meal ( coeliac catered for with no issues). Afterwards we drove around the family vineyards and stopped off at the Teatro del Silenzio ( movingly covered with flags apparently as a thanks to the health workers of the world) A most memorable day for us all, I would recommend it wholeheartedly , thank you Tony, Alessio and the Bocelli family.

We did a 3-hour private tour of Siena with Giorgia this summer with our two teenage children. It was just perfect! Giorgia is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Siena and beyond, and it clearly showed in the depth of her answers to the very many questions that we asked. She was flexible to adapt the tour based on what we were interested in. Although not originally from Siena, she knows and loves the city like a local and has the ability to make the tour unforgettable. 160 Euros for a fantastic private our of Sienna. Very good value for money. Probably the best private city tour that we have ever done.

A pick up at the very hard to navigate Florence train station--flawlessly executed. An amazing restaurant recommendation on the trip from Florence to Lucca. Courteous, professional, communicative from Florence to Lucca, to La Spezia, to Lucca, to Pisa. Wonderful!

What a trip! Adam, our driver, was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The day went according to plan and we had marvellous visits to both the extensive complex of Villa Adriana and then taken up the hill to Villa d’Este and its magnificent water gardens. Thoroughly recommend this out of Rome trip although pre-trip communication from the local provider could be improved.

6. Livorno Shore Excursion: Volterra and Pisa Private Day Trip

Top Guide Service AS - Pisa

The "magic and mysterious" city of Volterra has its roots in three thousand years of history. Its isolated position has impeded any progressive development.
Today the city conserves above all a Medieval aspect not only for the 12th century city walls but also because of the urban layout with narrow streets, palaces, tower houses and churches.
The Renaissance had an important influence on Volterra but without changing the city's Medieval character.
Guided visit to the close Etruscan, medieval and renaissance town of Volterra, including a laboratory where is working one of few handicraftsmen in town making alabaster objects. Then Pisa and its Square of Miracles. The Cathedral and its Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and the Camposanto are all found in the Square of Miracles, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy and the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Inclusions: Local guide in Volterra - 3 hrs, Private tour, Hotel/port pickup and drop-off

Exclusions: Food and drinks, Entrance fees to attractions, Local guide in Pisa - can be added to this tour - €200,00

A Thunderstorm met us as we left the train station at Lucca to meet our guide, Davide. Thankfully it did not last too long and we were able to enjoy the passion for Lucca that Davide shared with us as we strolled around the walled township. We couldn't help feeling like we wanted our tour to continue as David filled our imaginations with his story telling and making the city come alive for us.

Wish we had read the reviews before booking. Palermo is quite small and most the main sights are very central, so you don’t really need a bus tour. However, even if you are not keen on walking, the bus tour will be of little use, as the advertised ‘hop on, hop off, every 20 minutes’ is simply untrue. The bus only arrives every 90 minutes (we lunched in a restaurant next to the stop we alighted from and that was the time gap). In addition, there is no access to a live map for bus arrivals, so you have no idea when the next bus will arrive. In a nutshell, it’s a rip off.
