The Chicamocha Canyon is over 125 miles long (200 km) and from the river to its tallest peak approximately 1.25 miles (2000 m) high. This makes it a greater depth than the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The piece de resistance is the cable car which travels 0.75 miles (1200m) down into the canyon and also up on the opposite side, with a total travel time of ½ hour giving you plenty of time to take the perfect photo. The actual theme park is a combination of historical and cultural events as well as supplying more adventurous activities such as climbing an artificial waterfall, zip lining, an extreme swing, virtual reality, a waterpark, trampolines and more.

As the fifth largest metropolitan area in Colombia as well as being known as the safest and cleanest city in the country, Bucaramanga offers a lot of interesting places to see, like important buildings in the city center, a historic museum, the famous leather shoe outlets, shopping malls, Colombia´s largest hanging bridge, etc. Girón is located in Bucaramanga´s metropolitan area and it is one of the 17 towns of national heritage in Colombia. Its well-conserved colonial architecture makes it an interesting place to visit and you will be able to imagine how the people lived here 300 years ago. At the end, you will enjoy an amazing view of the entire metropolitan area from the Eco Park Cerro del Santísimo, which will be reached by cable car. The Santísimo is with 37 meters the highest statue in Colombia and a must-see during your stay in Bucaramanga. In addition, the park offers souvenir stores, a place that sells wine made from oranges and blackberries, and a water show at night.

In February/March 2020 our family group of four spent 8 days in Colombia, 3 in Bogota and 5 in the Department of Santander. Wolf Tours handled all of the arrangements and tours in Santander, and they did a superb job. Just before we arrived, an avalanche blocked the main road from Bucaramanga to San Gil. Dominic saved the day by adjusting our schedule. Among our activities were visits to Giron, Santisimo, Chicamocha Canyon, a cacao finca, a pineapple planation, Lago Topocoro and Rio Sogamoso, and Paramo Santurban (highlight of trip for me, unique ecosystem at 12,000 feet above sea level.) Our guide Carlos was exceptional-- well informed, helpful, patient. Perfectly fluent in English, he also helped us practice our Spanish. By the end of our trip, he became a member of the family, and with our highly professional driver Hector, we formed a real team. Our group gives Wolf Tours and guide Carlos our highest and most enthusiastic recommendation. We are already planning a trip to Barichara, Socorro, and the Department of Boyaca with Carlos.
The Eco Park Cerro del Santísimo is a popular attraction in Bucaramanga and therefore it is a must-see for travelers. The statue itself is just 3 meters (10 feet) smaller than the famous statue Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) in Rio de Janeiro. The special thing about Santísimo is that it is not overcrowded with tourists and that there even is an elevator right behind the statue different to the statue in Rio de Janeiro. Furthermore, the park offers a magnificent view of the whole metropolitan area of Bucaramanga and is the best place to enjoy a beautiful sunset. In the park you can also find a place where regional wine is sold that is made from oranges, blackberries or grapes and especially souvenir stores and cafés. After the sunset there is a beautiful water show with colors, lights and music. To reach the park you have to take a cable car that takes you 500 meters up the hill and during the ride you will have an incredible view on the tropical rainforest.
Inclusions: Private transport, English-, Spanish- and/ or German-speaking accompaniment, Entrance to the park of the Jesus-Statue Santísimo, 2 rides with the cable car, Travel insurance

El Socorro is one of the most important historic towns in Latin America. It is the place where the first step to the independence of Colombia was made. In 1781, 38 years before the internationally accepted Colombian independence, the indigenous Manuela Beltran tore apart an important document of the Spaniards which was recognized as the first important revolt in South and Central America against the Spanish empire. That action led to the Revolution of the Comuneros and many other revolts on the continent. In El Socorro you will be right on the market place where the first step to the Colombian independence began and you will learn about it and other important historical influence of the town during a walking tour and in the historic museum. Due to its historic importance El Socorro was declared town of national heritage. It is a neat place to visit since it has different churches and chapels, old unfinished government buildings and a well conserved colonial architecture.
Inclusions: Private transport to El Socorro, Walking tour in El Socorro, Entrance and tour in the historical museum in la Casa de la Cultura, Entrance and tour in the religious museum Convento Capuchinos, Lunch included in El Socorro, English-, Spanish- and/ or German-speaking accompaniment, Travel insurance
