This tour is focused on the path of St. Ignatius from his birth to the founding of the Society of Jesus. We will visit the spectacular  Basilica of Loiola (built in the 18th century)  and Saint Ignatius' family house and birthplace (in Loiola, Azpeitia), the hermitage of La Antigua in Zumarraga (where Saint Ignatius made a stop during his pilgrimage) and the Sanctuary of Arantzazu (located in a spectacular spot in a gorge, rebuilt in the 1950's and a showcase of modern religious art at its finest, awarded with several international prizes). A day full of spirituality that will leave the faithful tourist as well as the not religious one awed by the sheer beauty of the sights. **Note: Between November 1 and April 16 La Antigua hermitage will only open during weekends. If booked in a weekday during that period, the tour will go to San Telmo hermitage in Zumaia instead.**

Inclusions: Lunch, Driver/guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Local guide

Exclusions: Infant lunch or dinner is not included

The explanations provided during all the tour were accurate and very extensive but at the same time funny. The tour guide was fantastic. He was a local young guy full of energy and good vibes. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting San Sebastian.

We worked with Nerea to organize 2 days of private guides for our overnight in Bilbao on our cruise. Nerea was great to work with, and the two historical walking and Pinxtos tours were amazing. We have done a lot of private tours in our travels in Europe and our two private guides, 1 in San Sebastian and 1 in Bilbao were 2 of the best we ever had. I wish I could remember the ladies names that took us around, but they were FANTASTIC! The food they shared with us was amazing. They took us to very different places in each city, but places that they liked to visit is locals. The Pinxtos were amazing, the wine was amazing, the history tours were great. The guides were so knowledgable, personable, flexible, and they made us fall in love with the region of Spain. You cannot go wrong with the service and the guides provided by Basque Destinations. Our guide in Bilbao even walked around the Guggenheim with us and explained things (even though techinically it is not legal to do so), and for people who are not versed in Modern Art, it was very impactful, educational, and made the experience so much more enjoyable. I wish I could remember the women's names, but I waited too long to write the review...but you will not be disappointed with the private tours created by Nerea and her team.

7. Countryside & Coast Private tour

Baskme

One of the most attractive things about San Sebastian is its magnificent hinterland. Although the city itself has much to offer, it is well worth venturing further afield to discover the lesser known Basque Country. Continuing north we will find the coast. The Basque Coast is an authentic natural paradise with treasures you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Discover a territory that holds, a lush green maze-like countryside, a versatile coastline, a strong cultural tradition, the oldest language in Europe and where cooking is an essential part of the culture and of life itself.

Can’t say enough great things about our day-tour with Andoni. As big GOT fans, it was an absolute blast to visit the filming locations for Dragonstone (Yes, you visit more than one!). The hotel pick-up from San Sebastian was a huge plus, as the locations we visited were around an hour west of San Sebastian. Andoni was as professional as they come and ensured we were completely comfortable and relaxed the entire day. He showed us the best kept secrets throughout the area and truly got to know us. We would have never had seen anything close to what we did without his guidance. My wife and I both agree that this was the highlight of our entire vacation. Would reccomend 10/10.

This day tour allowed us to see the most of San Sebastian and Basque Coast in one day. There were a lot of incredible sights. We had only one day to visit the Basque Country and we were really satisfied with this tour. Our tour guide Josu really helped us make the most of it. The food was really good with lot of pintxos options to choose and different wines to pair with the food. I would highly recommend txakoli local wine. It was greatt day with a great guide.
