Mostar (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mǒstaːr]) is a city and municipality in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Inhabited by 105,797 people, it is the most important city in the Herzegovina region, its cultural capital, and the center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation. Mostar is situated on the Neretva River and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most recognizable landmarks, and is considered one of the most exemplary pieces of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.
Things to do in Mostar
We came here on a rainy day in March. It was pretty full. This place came highly recommended by our hotel. We had quite a few items including cevapci and other mixed grill items. The food came really quickly and was very nicely seasoned. It does get a bit smokey indoors as smoking is not banned inside. We also had the cake with lemon water for dessert. This was delicious and was much better than the description made it sound like! Highly recommended as it is not in the tourist trap area so is quite local and very reasonably priced!

We are located in the heart of Mostar, in the beautiful old town, close to the Old Bridge. The beautiful outer atmosphere, we grilled specialties, with twenty-year-long tradition. Welcome.
Konoba Bascine was one of the best restaurants we visited in all of Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. The food was very fresh and grilled to perfection. Each person had a different favorite on the mixed meat platter but the best dish was probably the whole grilled eel. It looked enormous but was so good we probably should have ordered a few more. The waiters were extremely friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. They also helped the children translate the writing on a t-shirt, taught them the names of different juices, and showed them a pet reindeer in the back garden. The location was very near the bridge, shopping, and the Turkish Baths but tucked out the way on a quiet and cool shaded patio.

This restaurant is clinically fresh, rather like an upmarket service station catering for wedding groups and coaches. The pressure is definitely on to buy wine but what marred our visit was the complete lack of attention to the very specific warning given twice that my wife has a severe allergic reaction to spinach. We were reassured that no spinach would be included in any food nor would there be cross contamination. Only when my wife was suspicious of the colour of our pasta did she ask again and this time the waiter said he would check with the chef. You mean he had not the previous two times? Stop! Touch nothing ! came the reply. It contained 2% spinach...the briefest of internet checks revealed that. The bill was reduced but they had only just averting hospitalising my wife. Wake up!
Top 10 Barbecue food in Mostar, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Had a "ciabatta" pannini which seemed more like grilled ham served in a calzone with kernel corn, cilantro, tomatoes, a little mayo and some sort of "chutney" which turned out to be like Russian dressing flavored with paprika. Really great and I'm sure I'll never have anything like it again. Try it with orange Fanta. :)

Small family-run cafe located just at the entrance of the Old Bridge, offering local handmade ice cream, traditional Bosnian sweets, coffee and drinks - named after the traditional diving style of Mostar - Lasta.
Best traditional Bosnian coffee. Near to the Old Bridge, here you can find a friendly place with great service, good coffee and very good sweets.

Been there many times. It is situated outside the town, above it, on a hill in a beautiful rural atmosphere. You can ride horses there, bike around beautiful nature, hike...And the reastaurant is "rustic". Food is great. Go for the local food: Hercegovacki donouts, cheese, prschuto. Or you can preorder some of famous dishes "ispod peke".

We saw the good rating on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed! We had a risotto and a veal dish and ordered extra grilled vegetables. We also had 2 drinks. It was delicious and only 20 euro's total. Best value for money ever. The waiter was also a very nice guy. It is a short walk from the old city center and this is definitely worth it. The menu is in Italian and Bosnian, but there is also a German menu present.

Restaurant Prestige is situated on the fourth floor of Hotel Mepas and the business and shopping center Mepas Mall. Prestige follows global trends and represents a superior oenological and gastronomic experience. It is a place where tradition and quality
If you find yourself at Mepas Mall this is a place to go to if one gets hungry. They have an absolute awesome curryzola steak which if ordered medium rare taste absolutely awesome. Restaurant has extensive menu which might seem a bit confusing and some of the things I tried over the time seem a bit bland (such as chicken or pasta). If you want a full flavor I'd recommend go with beef since that's something they do best. Dear vpazin89,thank you very much for the nice words of our restaurant! We are very pleased that you liked your steak and that you have tried many things from our menu. Our chef is constantly working on new dishes and new flavors to satisfy everyone's taste.Hope that you will come and visit us again next time you are in Mostar!Sincerely, Dalibor Å unjiÄ

We were recommended to go here. Not a good choice. Our waiter was very slow and had to keep asking him for drinks and then to order the food. When the food eventually came it was cold so we sent it back. When it did come back it still wasn't super hot but was edible. Had the veal which was tender but only tinned mushrooms poured all over it so was hard to say what it tasted like. Eventually went up to the counter to try and pay. Got ignored so much that I was tempted to just walk out. We didn't but had to almost beg to get the bill. Not a good night.

The restaurant is just beside the Crooked Bridge. The setting is farm-style, with copper and timber beams. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the trout with potato spinach and the veal ; nothing sensational, but just a plain, honest quality meal. Together with 1lt of the local wine, it set us back 45 km â you cannot fault that.
