The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Kodagu are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Coorg and dubbed "The Scotland of India," Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. Kodagu is ideal for outdoor activities such as trekking, angling and white-water rafting, and major festivals like Keil Poldu (worship of weapons), Cauvery Shankaramana (return of the river goddess) and the Huttari (harvest) festival are a huge draw.

The hosts are a family with one child. The idea of staying with a family resonated with me as I have always had wonderful experiences staying with families in India I always felt very safe secure and nurtured at this homestay. I am a solo woman traveller and I would HIGHLY recommend this homestay for other solo woman travellers. There is plenty to do in Coorg. But if you need some relaxation then their INCREDIBLE terrace is an ideal place to sit and relax all day. If I stayed longer I would have LOVED to have spent for time on their terrace as it has a wonderful view and it is ideal for reading, yoga relaxation sunrises and sunset. This homestay is definitely a happy place.

Nestled among the plush green hills and forests of the Coorg, blessed by the cradle of nature, the mind runs through the heart of the beautiful landscape, a melody to the soul. On a clear blue sky the sun descends, its rays shinning through the cover of trees shadowing this heaven on earth. Go back to nature.
This was a good resort for the family. We were 4 couples and each room is having duplex type. The management is very cooperative and service was excellent. I enjoyed filter coffee every morning. The only complaint was, AC not working. Staff tried to fix it but couldn't. As weather was pleasant, we could manage.

Situated in Yedamakky a small sleepy village (close to Virajpet)in the Coorg district of Karnataka, this a perfect getaway for a peaceful & relaxed vacation. The green paradise is nestled among the mountains of Western Ghats, the greener part of Karnataka. Clean & pristine, this land is filled with history & culture. The cottage is spacious, independent & located in the midst of lush greenery overlooking coffee & pepper plantations. We have 3 Rooms category, namely Plantation Deck Rooms, Cottages & Village Hut Rooms. This is a plantation retreat middle of a coffee estate.
The place was really good as it is located inside the coffee plantation. I really liked it. Whoever visiting coorg, they can prefer to stay there. And the food being served there it's really good. Explore the place.

While one would wake up to the lush green forests and coffee plantations right outside the window of his cosy cottage with birds of different kinds chirping while you have your coffee, the hospitality which we received here was extraordinary. We would like to visit this place ONLY for experiencing the love, affection, sincerity and discipline of the services offered by Mr. Sathish and Mrs. Majula. I believe these lovely individuals are the greatest asset to this place. Do visit for an altogether different experience.

River Side Cottages is not a luxury hotel - just an extremely convenient and totally comfortable Home Stay. The atmosphere is perfect for those who would rather kick-off their shoes and spend a day in the river, spending quality time with their family or, if the heart desires lounge away on the patio reading a good book, enjoying the fresh air, peace and quiet of the beautiful estate. At night the gentle gurgling of the river, chirping of the crickets and rustling of the leaves fills the air, and the true glory of nature lays opens up in the sky, with a million stars just waiting for you to reach out and touch them. River Side Cottages is like Utopia for a philosopher. If you like to mingle with nature, watch leaves flutter in a dance and hear the sounds of birds fill the air, feel the romance in the mountains, the tingle of the cool gentle breeze, then Coorg is just the place for you!
If you are looking for a perfect relaxing stay in Coorg, this is the place. It's a splendid property surrounded by lush greenery & breath taking views. The hosts are really friendly & helpful. The rooms are big, spacious & clean. It's away from the hustle & bustle of the city life. Perfect location. Can't recommend this place enough. Would definitely go back again.

Hill woods cottage in Somwarpet is clearly one of the best places for a weekend away. We've been there thrice, with a pet and had the best time of our lives. Few points to note - - It's in the middle of nowhere and with no city based distractions - gorgeous views, birds, butterflies, waterfalls et. al.. It's perfect for people who have a penchant for experiencing nature in all it's glory - The accommodation is very comfortable and pet - friendly with some brilliant views - The folks at Hill woods are incredible. They are extremely sweet and friendly and made our stay absolutely comfortable. We loved the homely feeling - The food they serve is fantastic. They've always tried to serve us authentic coorg cuisine which we loved. We also loved the fact that a lot of produce that went into the preparation of the food was derived from their own plantations - We went for the plantation walk, which was exactly like walking in the middle of the forest. They showed us the different fruits and vegetables they grow there, most of which us city slickers had never seen - Last but certainly not the least, the birds you get to see here are amazing. We've managed to spot new species of birds ( those we personally haven't see before) every time. We've seen hornbills, minivets, barbets, velvet - fronted nuthatch, swallows, parakeets, woodpeckers and many more. PS: They make their own wine and squashes which are fantastic and a must try. Would definitely be going back there again. :)
