At Staycity Barbican Centre, the Barbican is literally on your doorstep, and you’re also within walking distance of the likes of Clifford’s Tower (0.6km) and York railway station (1.6km), and well, every York attraction has to offer really, given how compact and ripe for exploration by foot this charming little city is.
Came here for an overnight break away last night with a friend and we booked a 1 bedroom apartment. The female receptionist was friendly, helpful and informed us of 24 hour reception, food etc, the check in was super quick and efficient. Informed us of our room (402) and gave us our key cards. The room was immaculate, fully working kitchen area with a 2 ring hob, dishwasher, clean cutlery, dishes and cups and dishwasher. Bathroom was clean, towels nice and big. Bedroom was a decent size, included an ironing board, large wardrobe, bed and pillows were super comfy (better than a Premier Inn) and the 2 sofas pulled out into single sofa bed that my friend said was comfortable to sleep on with a snuggly quilt. Slept like a baby, never heard any noise from rooms above or around us. Will visit again for sure. Bus stop is right outside hotel to take us direct to York Train Station as we didn't fancy walking back again to station as it was a bit rainy earlier on. Thank you StayCity.

We offer a variety of boutique-style, self-catering holiday rentals in York city centre. All of our properties have modern furnishings throughout and are fully equipped with kitchen utensils, bedding, towels, hairdryer, iron and tea and coffee. We have 14 apartments situated at Monk Bar, next to the historic walls. These are set in a Grade 2 listed Georgian townhouse, with Monk Bar just outside the door. We also have 6 recently renovated suites in York House, Clifford Street. These offer our guests a touch of luxury and boast roll-top baths, balconies and stylish decor. Our apartments sleep 2-10 guests and we are happy to create bespoke bookings for groups wishing to stay in close proximity to each other. Bennett House is our final property located by the river near Clifford's Tower. It is a Georgian townhouse sleeping 14-16 over 5 bedrooms and a sofa bed in the lounge. It has 3 modern bathrooms, a comfortable lounge with flat screen tv, spacious kitchen dining area and a small patio area at the front of the property. City centre shopping is 100 metres away and an array of restaurants and bars are just a stones throw away.
What a fantastic find. Perfect location for exploring a beautiful city. Great for just the two of us but would be perfect for a larger group too as there is plenty of space. The balcony was great for sitting out to eat our breakfast in the morning sunshine. Only negative was the sound of the nightclub across the road until late on our last evening but it didn’t spoil our stay.

We offer beautiful holiday apartments in central York. Our apartments range includes one, two and three bedroom apartments to sleep from one to six people per apartment. All of our guests sleep in proper beds in bedrooms. We do not use sofa beds so you are assured of a great night's sleep! All of our holiday apartments come with quality bed linen & all the comforts that you would expect in a 4 star hotel. In addition you will have your own seating & dining area together with a well equipped kitchen area. Our apartments are all situated just outside the city centre of York in Bootham.
Great comfortable apartment: QUIET, nice kitchen. Small but nice bathroom, and a comfortable bed. The washer and dryer in the building was a big plus. The negative for us (+70) was the location. About a 15 minute walk into the city center. We stayed five nights, and the last full day we finally discovered a great bakery that also had take out sandwiches etc, and a lovely pub. I would encourage the owner the leave a map with at LEAST locations of grocery stores close by. Our first night there we stubbled around the area desperate for groceries. AGAIN, if you want to be in a quiet residential area, this might be perfect for you.

If you have booked through Booking.com for this accommodation - make sure you go to the Lawrence website to read the full t& cs. I requested to change date of stay due to illness and informed I have a £65.00 ‘admin’ fee to pay. Negotiations with Lawrence management to waiver this ‘admin’ fee proved unsuccessful. Final ? Disappointed and no room for manoeuvre ….. and yes I didn’t read the full terms and conditions on the website…. but …….

This was our first ever stay at Sutton Hall, but we will definitely be back. What a lovely place! We all thought it was wonderful to have private use of the facilities (particularly the swimming pool), which is done via a pen and paper booking system in the foyer. Our apartment was very well equipped, very clean, cosy and smelled nice. We were fortunate to be in the Roulston apartment which has a balcony overlooking a picturesque view of the grounds and is a lovely place to sit and have breakfast (even in February). We had a walk around the grounds, which I think will be very pretty in Summer and has numerous picnic tables, a stream running through it, tennis courts and micro golf facilities. We didn't have time to use the hot tub, but it's in a great location overlooking the grounds. The small fitness room looked decent (although we didn't use it) and we appreciated having extra space in the lounge to enjoy a few games of pool. We only saw one member of staff (the receptionist) but she was very friendly and welcoming. My 8 year old son was gutted to be leaving so soon and asked if we could move to Sutton Hall permanently, because he enjoyed the stay so much. Thanks to all of the staff at SH for ensuring our stay was so enjoyable.

Second time we have stayed. Well located within 5-7 mins walk of Michelgate. Highly unusual to find somewhere with free parking this close to York. You can walk to everything so easily from here. The apartment is like a home from home. Plenty of towels, welcome pack( milk, eggs, bread, teabags, butter and jams). Lots of welcome touches like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, well equipped kitchen including small dishwasher and washing machine. Generous sized lounge and dinning room. It was very clean when we arrived and well presented. Booking direct with owner was easy to do and they are quick in responding to any questions. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this apartment. We stayed in apartment 2-there are two apartments upstairs of similar size.

I had booked this for a couple of days away for my partners birthday. Arrived to check in at 2pm (check in time) and owner ignored call/text to check in. Didn't get access to property until 14:30. We gained access by approaching one of the apartments where someone was inside cleaning who happened to be the owner which turned out to be still inside the apartment we were due to be staying in. Waited for text message for code to enter into door to gain access so couldn't leave the property until this had been received which took over an hour and a half from check in time. Banister appears to of been ripped off the wall and railing left on the living area floor. really poor repair work done (see photos). Stain on bedroom carpet in front of mirror. Toilet was dirty and the toilet seat was broken. Television was caked in dust. Electrical wires hanging off the top of the kitchen cupboards. Damp patch on ceiling below shower above. Grubby marks on the walls throughout the apartment. Poor filler work in bedroom. Heater was really noisy and could not have on in the evening due to the constant clicking noise it made. Also looked like it needed a clean. Tried to complain about all of this to be offered a 20% refund and 50% off my next stay. I can definitely say I will not be returning to the York Aparthotel again so the offer of a reduced next visit is useless. I am still yet to receive any form of refund from the York Aparthotel. Right in city centre nice shower.

. I find it odd that there are so few reviews for the Royal Parade Apartments. I'm rather fed-up of paying high prices for hotels that let you down. Yet, we just had 2 nights in the Royale Apartment and think the value was excellent, the space provided was a joy. The decor charming and creative. I admit we thought the bed looked rather small compared to what we are used to, but our concerns were unnecessary as we slept very well. The apartment was comfy and we settled in like it was home. If I have one gripe it's the fact the Smart TV doesn't appear to have been tuned in properly, and I couldn't work out how to do it. Most of the Freeview channels were missing, and to use Netflix or Amazon Prime would have meant registering the TV in my name, which I was not prepared to do. Yes, we could have contacted the owners to sort it out, but we were only there 2 nights and wanted privacy. But as far as I'm concerned it's a no-brainer. Hotel or Royal Parade Apartments? Royal Parade would win every time if we go back to this part of the world. Word of advice if arriving my train. If you want to take a taxi to the apartments don't let the taxi drivers tell you it's not worth it, to just walk. They gave us a misleading idea of how close the station is to Royal Parade. And oddly despite going into The Ivy and other shops, no one seemed to know where Royal Parade was. Yet, once found, it's not difficult at all. It's truly not that far from the train station, but if you don't know where you're going you don't need to be misled by a taxi driver. Please do not hesitate to book if you like a decent sized space, and the joy of having your own kitchen to use when you wish, and prefer to not waste a huge sum of money on a hotel. Also, the huge bonus in these Covid times is having your own apartment rather than sharing space with lots of strangers especially at breakfast time. .
